Lab Exercise 2: Explain the Benefits and challenges of internet to the KUIS students

Nowadays many people use Internet due to the covid 19 era. This is because students are still not allowed to go back to KUIS and stay at home for covid19 prevention. KUIS students still have to study for upcoming semester and they do it using online application. Example of online application is KLMS, LMS, Google Classroom and Meet. KUIS students have to rely on the internet reception when they use it during their online lecture. Some students use mobile data and for affordable people, they use wifi. There are some benefits and challenges of Internet when using it.

The first benefits is that online study connects people from all place in an application. People from all around Malaysia can study and learn their lectures at home using the Internet. Students use Google Meet to learn the lectures and other can use other application such as Zoom. Second, students can save time when studying online. In KUIS, we have to come, listen and go back to the dormitory after the lectures which will take some time. This will save time by cutting the time waste and integrate them all in the Internet. Lecturers put assignments here at the Internet so that the student can always review them and finish them before the due date. Third, learning is easy when having a recorded lecture. When using Internet, students only have to listen to lectures in Meet and if they are lucky the lecturer give them a recorded lecture. Students can listen to a lecture recorded made by their lecturer and still make notes because they can pause the recording. This is efficient in studying.

There are also challenges when using internet. Firstly, student suffered with technical issues like slow internat and no internet line. Technical issues can kill the study mood. Students need to inform the lecturer if they are kicked out because of slow internet reception or slow line. Slow line can make the lecturer speak in a crashed robot mode. We can see the lecture but not undertsand one thing. Secondly, adaptability struggle. Students have a hard time when the lecturers suddenly do not use the normal application and use a new application. They want the students to explore but some students will take a long time to adjust to the new ways. It is because before this they are always using the traditional way os doing things when in KUIS. Third, need for the high end laptop or PC. Students are tech savvy and always know how to manage the computer well. The issue here is that some courses have multimedia. In multimedia, we have to do online kiosk and many more. For example the Adobe Photoshop, the application needs to be charged to a laptop or having 100 percent battery usage before using it. This is because the application uses high battery level and a really high end laptop or PC can maintain the battery and do the work. This have a connection to the topic Internet by using a quality laptop or PC in doing and sending the assignment and listen to lecturers in the google meet.
