I pulled away after some time.
"I can't do this Nora just leave my office" I said looking the other way
Yes sex might have been my weakness and I was easily taken but I just didn't want anything with Nora, she was too clingy and desperate for attention such kind of woman could be dangerous for my life.
"Chard am I not beautiful enough" She asked with tears in her eyes
"I should find you out of my office when I get back" I said after I grabbed my phone and walked out of the office.
When I walked out I went straight to the cafeteria to cool my head off, I didn't like Nora's behavior and I was thinking of terminating her contract but on what basis would I fire her knowing very well she was good at her job.
I decided to call Luis as I drank some cold water.
"My man, what's up?"
"Hey my man how are you doing?"
"I am great what's cutting?"
"I need advice on something my man"
"Shoot"
"Well remember I told you about some Nora chick from the office?"
"Yes what about her?"
I explained what transpired at the office to him,
"I don't like that behavior my man, stay away from her, that girl could go as far as claiming she is pregnant if you sleep with her, such women are not to be trusted, she is too desperate"
"Exactly my thought, what kind of woman has no dignity with her body?"
"If she is capable of throwing herself at you like that then she can do it to any other men, stay away my man such women are only good for a night and nothing more" he said and we laughed
When I went back to my office, I found Nora by her desk, I didn't bother talking to her, I just walked in packed my stuff and locked the office.
"You can knock off" I said as I walked to the elevator
She didn't even answer and I didn't care telling her again. I drove to mum's house so I could check her out because she hadn't been feeling well the past week.
"If it isn't my favorite son" mum said as soon as I drove in, she was watering the flowers but stooped when I walked up to her, I hugged her and she invited me inside.
"Why are you watering the flowers when they are people to do that here?"
"My son I didn't grow up in a rich family like you so I am not used to sitting around all day especially now that I am on leave"
"But mum you are supposed to be on bed rest not doing chores"
"I can't be in bed for ever you know"
"How are you feeling?"
"I am getting better I should be going back for work soon"
"You don't have to work you have people managing the businesses properly"
"Chard don't start with that"
"How is dad?"
"He is all over the place, but he is fine"
"I am glad to see you are getting better, your birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks, anything special you would like me to get you?"
"I would love to just have my children by my side but there is something else that could make me happy"
"Which is?"
"You settling down, for Christ's sake you are not getting any younger and Maya is also following your example"
"Mum, will you ever get over this topic?"
"No I won't that Faith girl is great get serious with her, let me hold my grandchildren before I join my ancestors"
"Don't talk like that you aren't going to join any ancestors soon besides you have Zoe"
"I hear you my boy but please settle down, let's make things official with Faith"
"Mum I will see what I can do, in the mean time what do you want to have for supper, let me prepare you something to eat"
"You know my favorite" she smiled
The only woman that has the power to make my heart melt is mum, I can do just anything to make her smile I decided I was going to propose to Faith on Mum's birthday just so she could be happy. After I cooked for her we ate together then I drove home.
When I got home I called Maya so I could tell her about my plans to finally marry Faith
"Chard are you out of your mind?" Maya asked when I told her about my decision to marry Faith
"Maya I want to make mum happy"
"That's bull you know? You don't marry someone for such reasons you have to marry for love"
"I like her she likes me, what's the fuss about?"
"Chard if you decide to go ahead with this, you are on your own, I will not stand by and watch you ruin your life "
"Gosh Maya, you believe in love so much why aren't you married?"
"Really did you just ask me that?"
"Sorry"
"Whatever, I have washed my hands off this do whatever pleases your heart" she said and hang up on me
"Gosh women can be so dramatic" I thought as I got back to work.

I felt humiliated when Chard rejected me, I felt insulted because no man had ever treated me with such disgust as he did. I had offered myself on a silver plate and he rejected me. I couldn't hold back tears so I let them roll down my cheeks. I was broken and hurt, if it were up to my father, Chard would long be dead but I couldn't deal with killing a man I loved, a man I saw a future with, the father of my kids.
I just thought with Maria gone he would have no option but to be with me not knowing he was engaged to another. What didn't I have that all these women had? I needed to find ways of dealing with Faith this time around I wouldn't involve my father I would deal with her my own way, I would hit her where it hurt most and by the time she would get to realize she would be shocked to know what hit her.
"Baby please tell this lady I am your future wife" such guts she had, she just didn't know who she had messed with, she had pressed a wrong button, I smiled after putting my plan into action then went to sleep.

"Thank you very much ba Jacob I will call if I need anything else" I said handing him some money after he gave me the report on Faith. I had told him two days ago to track her down and bring me information about her I wanted to know more about her before putting my plan in motion.
"You don't have to pay me you know the big man pays me well for all the errands I run for you" he responded shyly
"Ah naiwe ba Jacob just get this money, this a token of my appreciation for all you do for me"
"But I just do my job"
"Yes and you do it excellently so just accept this" I said putting the money in his hands
"Okay Nora thank you so much I will get going now"
I made myself some jungle oats for supper before reading the report I was really tired after a hard day's work and I didn't feel like cooking a decent meal, with Nicole out of the apartment it was really getting boring for me. Nicole had moved out a month ago after she was promoted to Public Relations Manager and had to move into a company house.
After I finished eating I poured myself some wine and sat by the mat as I read the report.
"Faith Nalwamba, last born daughter of Mildred Nalwamba whose been widowed for quite a number of years, born and bred in Zambia, attended University in South Africa where she has been staying the past five years, a lawyer by profession now working for FAREZ law Firm, dating Chard Kapembwa, from the information gotten she is set to get married to Chard soon, She loves shopping, cooking and dancing, she takes dancing classes at Melba dancing school " I read the report till I got to know more about Faith.
"Now I have an idea on how to deal with the fool" I smirked
I logged on to face book and searched for Melba dancing school page when I found it, I checked all the courses they offered, then I found one that Faith was attending.
I clicked on the link that to the website of the school which allowed me to register inline, I filled in the form and pressed send then shortly I received an email that stated I needed to pay half of the fees before they could process my registration, I got my phone and did a little transaction, 10 minutes later I was registered. I was scheduled to start classes the coming Friday.
On Friday we didn't have much work to do so immediately Chard knocked off I also left, I got home and packed my dancing clothes and drove off. Jacob had told me where Faith usually packed her car and when I got there her space was empty so I waited in my car for her to arrive. She came a little late but when I saw her get out of her car I did the same too.
"Excuse me" I called out
"Yes" she answered turning to look at me
"I am sorry I am new here but I don't know where to go"
"Hey have we met before? Your face looks familiar" she said staring at me
"Yes I think we have met you must be Faith"
"Oh yes I am Faith, wait a minute you work for Chard's company?"
"Yes I do"
"Oh the rude secretary" she clicked her tongue before walking away
"Hey I am sorry about last time I was just doing my job can we start all over" I said as I ran after her
"Okay fair enough, I am Faith" she said extending her hand
"Nora" I extended mine too
"You said you are looking for your class, what class is that?"
I showed her the email and she smiled "Come on let's go that's my class"
The dancing class wasn't as bad as I had pictured it would be, it was refreshing and actually helped me relax and forget my problems.
Two weeks later, Faith and I had become quiet close. Chard was a bit uncomfortable about my friendship with faith but then he couldn't do anything about it. I hated Faith with every fiber in me and each time I was with her I just wished I could strangle her to death but I had to be patient.
One Monday afternoon she came to the office really excited.
"What's the excitement all about Babe?" I asked her when I saw the grin on her face
"Is Chard in?" she asked
"Yes he is"
"Okay let me talk to him I will come and share the news with you" she said walking to his office.
I rolled my eyes at her as she walked into his office as if she was already his wife.

I was on phone when Faith walked into the office smiling as if she had just won the lottery.
"Hey baby" she hugged me excitedly after I dropped the phone
"Hey Faith" I greeted as I pulled myself off her embrace
"Can't you at least say hey baby, do you always have to be so formal?"
"Faith I am working as you can see, I have no time for chit chats"
"Anyway I won't allow you to steal my joy, take a look at this" she said handing me an envelope
"What's in this?" I asked
"Oh gosh Chard don't be a mood killer just open it"
"I opened the envelope and just couldn't believe its contents"
"What the hell is this?" I asked furiously
