I was laying in that clinic bed waiting for Jacob to visit me, I had only been allowed one call but when I called dad his line wasn't going through so I opted for Jacob, the pain in my leg had reduced a bit and I was told I would be taken to the cell on a wheel chair the next day. I wasn't too worried because I knew my father had enough connections to bail me out.
Ba Jacob entered some few minutes later and the officer guiding me went to wait by the door because I demanded for privacy.
"Nora baby" he said with a worried face
"Hey ba Jacob, how are things? Did you manage to talk to dad?
"Nora your dad, uhm, he, he
"He what ba Jacob?" I asked getting worried
"Well, he"
"You are scaring me, where is my father?"
"Your father suffered a massive stroke"
"He what? No not my dad, what happened? How is mum?" I screamed
"Calm down we are doing all we can to have you released your mum well I don't know but she will be visiting you soon"
"God why now?"
"Don't worry my child, all shall be well, your father is a strong man he will pull through this"
"Hey its time up" The office told ba Jacob and he left promising to see me the next day.
I had so much hope my father would bail me out, knowing him very well he would never allow me spend two nights in prison and now he was in a bad state, I wept bitterly thinking about what would happen if he died.

I had been feeling very bad about what Nora told me I didn't have enough guts to face Nicole her mum informed me she would be out in a week's time because they were still observing her.
"My son, it's not your fault that girl did all these things, you have done so much for my daughter and us, you need to visit her" Nicole's mum told me that evening
"I will visit her, I just need to gather enough strength" I told her
Two days later, I received a call from mum who was crying over the phone.
"Mum what is it?" I asked
"Please come over Chard" she said
"What happened?"
"Just come over my son" I dressed up and rushed over to mum's house. When I got there I found Maya soothing her, when she saw me she cried some more, her eyes were red she must have been crying for a long time.
"Mum what is it?" I asked holding her hand
"My son" she said embracing me
"What happened?"
She didn't respond but kept on crying Maya left the room and brought her some tea a few minutes later.
"Drink this you will feel better"
She drank the tea and fell asleep after a while.
"I put some sleeping pills in her tea so she can sleep, she has been crying for a long time, let's leave her to rest then she can talk to us later"
"What happened to her?"
"I don't know she hasn't been able to say a thing"
We sat on the couch in mum's room and watched her sleep it broke my heart to see her in such a state. I wish I could do something to ease her pain.
"How are you holding up with all that has happened lately?" Maya asked
"I don't know, I haven't been able to see Nicole since she woke up, I feel so guilty about what happened, it's all my fault"
"It's not your fault Chard"
"It is Maya, look at how Maria was killed, what of Faith and the baby she was carrying, she will never be able to conceive because of that"
"Don't blame yourself, Nora is a psycho you wouldn't have known what she was capable of okay, it's not your fault" she said hugging me
An hour later, we started preparing lunch when Olivia walked in carrying Zoe.
"Hey Livia" we greeted her surprised because we didn't know mum had called her
"Hey, where is mum, I was so worried I had to get on the first available flight to get here"
"She is sleeping"
"What happened to her? She called me crying hysterically"
"Right now no one knows why she was crying because she called all of us crying, I had to put some sleeping pills in her tea so she could get some sleep"
"Hey my baby" I said getting Zoe
"Uncle" she giggled
After some time we heard mum call out for Maya and we all went to her room.
"You are all here my children?" when she saw all of us
"Yes mummy what is wrong?" I asked
"Bring my grandchild here" she said and I handed Zoe to her
"Mum you scared me, what happened" Olivia asked
She shook her head and gave the baby back to me.
"Your father and I are getting divorced"
"Why? What happened?" Maya asked
"I just found out your father has been cheating on me and he has a child as who is two years younger than Chard and Maya"
"He what?" Olivia asked
"Imagine thirty two years of marriage has been a lie, what is it that I haven't done for that man?"
"Who told you?" Maya asked
"He confessed everything to me last night when he came back from the Copperbelt where his other woman is, apparently he felt guilty because the woman's husband caught them red handed and he suffered a stroke"
"Oh God this is big" Maya said
"Who is this woman?" I managed to speak
"I don't know her all I know is that his child to this woman works for the company. She is the girl who took over Maria"
"Nora?" Maya and I asked at the same time
"Yes"
"No ways" I said standing up
"No it can't be" Maya said
"God why? Nooooo" I yelled before walking out
I bumped into dad as I was walking out.
"You bastard" I said before punching him
He fell to the ground and I started hitting him. "How dare you make my mother cry, how dare you break her heart, look what you have done now, because of your foolishness I slept with my half sister" I said a I kept hitting him
"Chard stop, it's not worth it" Mum screamed pulling me away
"Mum, how could this happen?" I asked as I knelt down and let the tears the tears in my eyes roll down my cheeks.
"Hush my baby, hush"
"I know I can't make it up to you but please forgive me" dad managed to say as he tried to stand up
"You are so dead to me" I said going back to mum's room
All my life I had never felt disgusted with myself as I felt at that moment, how could my life have taken such a massive twist in just a blink of an eye. Tears couldn't stop falling from my face and like raindrops I let them fall as mum embraced me.
