"sup my aussie bro!"

"since when do you call me that?"

felix chuckled as jisung hopped over the couch and landed cross-legged atop of it. felix stared at the boy before him, the smile on his face making it seem as though he were glad to be there.

but felix could see right through his thinly veiled facade as he watched how jisung's hands were trembling and his smile was wavering.

"did something happen?"

he asked slowly, making sure his voice remained as gentle and quiet as possible so as to not startle the boy before him.

jisung shook his head, quickly taking out a bag of sweets from his bag and nearly stuffing all of the candies into his mouth at one go.

felix nodded, smiling at his friend as he munched on candies that felix personally thought were too sweet for him to handle, just the sight of the sugar coated colourful treats making his throat hurt at the thought of consuming them.

"if you don't mind me asking, why are you here then?"

jisung stopped eating, his eyes still directed at the bag of candies in his lap.

"is...is it so bad if i just wanted to see my friend?"

jisung clenched both hands together, the bag of candies falling onto the ground and scattering into a beautifully coloured mess.

"shit. sorry i-"

jisung fell onto his knees, scrambling to pick up the candies only to be stopped by felix who knelt down next to him and pulled him into a tight hug.

and, as he had expected, he slowly felt his shirt get drenched in tears as jisung leaned against him, unable to hold back his feelings for any longer.

"it-it's today."

felixs' gaze darted to the calendar that sat on top of the table and sure enough, it was the very day that jisungs' world had turned upside down.

"i-i miss them lix."

"yeah i know. just, let it out okay? i'm here."

"you promise?"

"of course i do."

and although felix knew that he wouldn't be able to keep his word, a small part of him wished that he could since he didn't want to make anyone else experience what he had gone through before, the hurt from broken promises leaving a permanent scar on his already wounded heart.

"why do you have sunflowers with you?"

changbin strolled in, a bouquet of sunflowers in one hand while the other held onto the strap of his bag.

he immediately sat down next to felix without even glancing at the chair opposite from him and just as felix had asked that question, he placed the sunflowers on his lap as though the answer were as clear as day.
