Chapter 8: The New Mayor

Tris POV

I wake up at 5:00, and can't fall asleep. I get up and take a shower just cause I have time. When I get out I straighten my hair and pull my bangs back.

I put on an all black shirt on with a jean jacket with a hood attacked, then I added a black flat cap on. I walk downstairs to see my dad about to leave.

He is in a fancy black suit with a red tie.
"Why are you leaving so early." I ask.
"Work." is all he says then kisses my forehead and runs out the door. It's 6:00 and he normally leaves at 8:00.

Oh well he must have an emergency or something. Today they are electing the new mayor so he probably has to be there for that.

My concision has gotten a lot better plus it was mild, I know I wasn't suppose to go to school for a couple days but the doctor said I could since it was the first one I've ever gotten.

I make myself some sausages and then Caleb comes down.
"Why were you up so early?" He asks.
"And where's dad?" He says looking around.
"I couldn't fall back asleep and dad left early for work." I say then take another bite out of my sausage.

"Where's mom?" I ask.
"She said she wasn't feeling good last night so she's sleeping in." he says then takes one of my sausage.
"Hey!" I yell.
"Shhhhh mommy's sleeping." he says as if he were talking to a baby.

He makes himself some sausages and then we both go and brush our teeth. When we're done we hope in the car.

"So how are you and Cara." I say poking his arm. He glares at me a surprisingly answers.
"We're good I'm really glad she said yes." he says turning into school.

I look to see my group yelling at Four's group, especially Will yelling at Four who puts his hands up in defense and is laughing.

"Drop me off there." I say pointing to the fight. He drops me off there and I run to the fight.
"What the heck is going on!" I shout at Will I noticed Al left before I got here.

"Four told everyone that my sister is a slut and that she's going out with a nerd." Will says. I turn to Four I have no words to describe my feelings right now. Caleb wanted a new start and not be considered a nerd anymore and Four ruined it.

Four smiles at me like he did nothing wrong and I punch him right in the nose as hard as I can. Everyone stares at me shocked including Four who is holding his nose.

Four lets go of his nose and I see it's bleeding, then he kicks me foot making me fall backwards but before my head can hit the ground Christina catches me.

"What the hell was that tiny!" He shouts.
"You called my brother a nerd!" I shout back. Then I know exactly who to go to, Edward. Edward is strong but also considered a nerd but no one says it out loud or they would get beat up.

I run toward my first class which is advanced math. Christina and Will follow me. Once I get there I go up to Edward who is sitting next to Myra with Cara and Caleb in front of him.
"Four said Caleb's a nerd and Cara's a slut." I say whispering it in his ear.

Right then Four and Zeke walk in. There eyes land on me them shift to Cara and Caleb who are whispering to each other and giggling and then to a very pissed of Edward and a confused Myra and back to me.

Four glares at me and Zeke takes a seat in the back and Four follows. Then I go sit next to Christina and tell the gang what just happened. They all smile and look in the back at Four and Zeke who are glaring at us.

After that class I go to my locker and Caleb walks up to me.
"Thank you." he says.
"For what?" I ask.
"Cara saw what you did to Four because he called me a nerd." he says looking down.
"He deserved it." I say and before I can say anything else Caleb gives me a hug.

The next two periods go by slow as usual and this time Christina, Al, and Will come with me to my locker so if I run into Peter or Four they would be there to back me up. I grab my lunch and we race to lunch.

I get there first and have to wait like 5 seconds before I see one of them. I look around and Four's group is looking at me well more like glaring at.
It's not your fault they called Caleb a nerd I tell my self
Um you could of been popular it's not like Caleb has ever been there for you.
Finally they catch up.

"Wow you can RUN!" Will says between breathes.
"I was going easy on you guys." I say and we walk to our old table. All of a sudden Zeke laughs really loud and so does his whole group. I role my eyes and start to eat.

After lunch in head to science oh no Four is in this class. I walked into class and remembered I left my homework in my locker so I run and get it. By the time I get back everyone stares at me and the only open seat is next to Four.

I sit down and we hand in our homework. We start class and I start to right down my notes. Then a giant hairy spider is on my desk and I jump up and scream at the top of my lungs.
Four and Zeke start laughing so hard. I jump on top of Four and try to punch him when a hand grabs me and pulls me off of him, Zeke.

"You two to the principals office!" Ms Mathews almost shouts. I know there's no way of getting our if this so I get up and take the note Ms Mathews wrote for the principal.

Four walks by my side and I walk faster and faster but he probably can walk faster than me anyway. I knock on the door and a voice tells us to come in.
"Tris?" He says confused. I met him once and that was the week we moved here and I I guess he was really nice.

"Four what did you do to Tris?" Asked Principal Max. I give him the note and he reads it nodding his head.
"So you pulled a prank, and you attacked him?" He asks looking at us. We both nod.
"Alright detention for you both." he says then motions us to leave.

Time Lapse

I sit in detention with Four next to me. Then I see a spider on my desk, not as big as the last one but still pretty big. "You can take your stupid fake spider away now." I say to Four.
"That's not mine." he says pointing to it. I roll my eyes and then realize it moved. I scoot my chair back as far as it can go. Four starts laughing quietly, he just watches me as the spider gets closer to me and I stare at it. When it is on the edge of the desk Four finally flicks it of.

"All right detention is up." says Ms Mathews. We walk out and right when we're in the hallway Four starts cracking up.
"You should've seen your face you were so scared." he says laughing more.
"Shut up I wouldn't of been here if it wasn't for you.

"So do you have a ride home?" He asks.
"Yeah my brother waited for me." I say angrily then glare at Four.
"It was just a joke." Four says talking about calling my brother a nerd.

"Well now the whole school considers him a nerd and his girlfriend a slut and you know she isn't." I say angrily.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, but at least it's better than being a nobody." he says.
"No it isn't." I say then leave without another word.

When we get home neither one if my parents are home, so I call my mom.
"Hello" she says
"Mom where are you?" I ask.
"Ok honey we didn't want to tell you this till it was official, are you on speaker? I want your brother to hear this too." She says so I turn on speaker.
"Ok your on speaker."

"Your father is the new mayor!" She says. Me and Caleb look at each other in disbelief.
"We're gonna be rich!" Caleb shouts.
"Caleb is that the only thing you care about?" My mother scolds. Caleb looks at me.
"We're gonna be rich!" I also say.

At 8:00 my parents finally get home. U run up to my dad and give him a hug and he spins me around. I give my mother a hug to, and my dad and brother give a "manly" hug.
"Congratulations to the new mayor of Chicago!" I shout.
