Five minutes before Christmas ay nag tipon-tipon kami sa labas ng bahay para sa countdown at manood narin ng fireworks.
Napag pasyahan kaninang ilabas ang lamesa at dito nalang kami sa labas kumain kaya maingay ang paligid. I just hope hindi umulan para hindi maging sabaw lahat ng handa. I don't think maisisilong naman lahat to if ever it happen. Masasayang ang pagkain.
"Mikee" I turn to Mom when she call for my attention. Hindi naman ako kalayuan sa kaniya. "Call your kuya. We're about to countdown" It's two minutes before Christmas. Kuya is talking to ate Jovy--his girlfriend inside the house dahil masyado nang maingay sa labas. Nag totorotot na ang mga bata kong pinsa. Nasindihan narin ang iilang pailaw.
"Kuya!" I call him when I saw him on the kitchen kaya napatingin siya sakin. "Labas ka na raw sabi ni Mommy. Mag ka-countdown na" he didn't say anything but he said goodbye to Ate Jovy.
"Advance Merry Christmas mahal. See you when I got back" I overheared him saying those words to Ate before he followed me outside. Pumwesto agad kami sa tabi ni Mom and Dad sa harap ng fountain as we shout the seconds before Christmas.
"3...2...1. MERRY CHRISTMAS" the whole family shout and as the clock struck 12 the sky exploded with beautiful colors celebrating the birth of our savior, Jesus Christ. Everyone greeted each other and we watch the fire works show together. After awhile, we started eating the food they prepared and lookback to some wonderful memories.
Laughing together. As a family. What a sight to behold.
"Kids, punta na kayo dito at may palaro ako" I hear Tito Richard and the kids automatically hovered him. May hawak siyang palanggana na pinapaingay. Diko alam kung anong laman.
"Mikee. Sali ka doon" I pouted at Mom. Mukha ba akong bata? "Sige na" Mom insisted so I was left with no choice. I half-heartedly join my little cousins who's waiting for Tito's game.
I was just standing there at the very back while my cousins seems so excited. Mukhang alam nila kung ano ang palaro ni Tito at mukhang yearly din ito ginagawa.
"Ahhhhh!" I was shocked ng mag sigawan ang mga pinsan ko at nag si pulutan ng--pera? Pera ang maingay kanina sa palanggana ni Tito? Cool. Tito showered the next batch of coins kaya nakipulot narin ako. Good thing I have a pocket kaya naibulsa ko ang mga perang nakuha ko.
While the games still on, I get my phone in my pocket and took a video and put a caption "Merry Christmas" before putting it on my IG story and put it back in my pocket again and watch my little cousin enjoy the game Tito Richard prepared. After the game ay nagbilangan sila ng napulot. And I remember the coins I pick up too kaya binilang ko rin and divided it to them which made them hop happily. Dami nilang pera.
The oldies give out money to the kids. Including me which made me roll my eyes but I still accept it when I remember that I have to buy something for myself.
It's already almost sunrise when I decided to go to sleep. Naiwan pa ang iilan sa ibaba dahil di daw sila matutulog. I have the urge to join then watch tg sunrise on the court but then- I am too sleepy for that so I guess i'll join them next time.
I woke up still feeling sleepy because of staying up all night but smiled when I remember what happened earlier. It's probably one of my best Christmas. I should ask Mom to be here again next year.
The day pass by so fast that we're already need to go home.
"Advance Happy New Year. Ingat kayo sa byahe" it was Grandma bidding her goodbye. Nasa airport na kami ready for boarding.
"Happ New Year po. I'll miss you" paalam ko ang kiss her and grandpa on the cheecks and also Tito Richard and his wife Tita Mary. The kids is left in the house dahil masyado pang maaga. It's just 6 in the morning at antok pa ang mga yun dahil nag slumber party kami kagabi.
After the goodbye's ay pumasok na kami sa eroplano. I got the windoe seat katabi si kuya kaya matapos kong ilagay ang gamit ko sa lalagyan ay sinalpak ko na ang earpods ko, play some koread music and sleep in oblivion. Nagising ako sa tapik ni kuya ng mag land kami. Habang bumabyahe pauwi sa bahay ay natulog ulit ako. I was just too tired dahil ang dami naming pinuntahan the last 3 days in Iloilo. We'll get ready in dawn and go home late at night. Naiiwan nga lang si lolo at lola sa bahay. But all in all. I am drain but happy. That's what important. I'm happy. We'e happy.
Nagising ulit ako ay madilim na at nasa kwarto narin ako. Kuya must have carried me here. Feeling recharged. I drag my self to the bathroom and take a bath ng makababa na ako at makatulong sa kusina. I figure I need to help eventhough in small things. Kahit sa oag hugas lang ng mga lulutuin.
"Good evening. You're finally awake." I smile at Mom and hug her from behind.
"Good evening Mom" I greeted still hugging her
"You must be hungry. Kain ka na" I let go of her and eat because I'm really hungry. Buong araw ka ba naman walang kain dika magugutom? Kumakain ako habang si Mommy naman ah abala sa pagluluto ng handa namin para sa New Years eve mamaya. I insisted to help her after I eat but she also insisted that I should just got to my room or whatever I want to do so J choose the former. I video chat Jin dahil nasa SoKor sila ngayon.
"Taray ng white Christmas. Yamanin" biro ko ng sagutin niya ang tawag at makitang nasa labas sila. Naka padded coat at scarf ang bruha. Halatang nilalamig dahil nanginginig pa ang labi.
She roll her eyes at my statement. "If I know, kung di kayo pumuntang Iloilo nasa U.S sana kayo ngayon"
"Well, change of Plans?" I said laughing. " Bakit ka pa kasi lumabas kung nilalamig ka naman?" I ask. Bothered by her quivering lips.
"Ask the ass hole Nich! Hinila niya nalang ako bigla saying na may bibilhin daw" inis niyang sabi while hugging herself for warmth. But no use.
"Well. Enjoy then. See you when you get back" paalam ko ng marinig ko siyang tinatawag ni Cole.
"Yeah. See you" she wave her hand on the screen and I did the same.
But then, I remembered something "Don't forget my pasalunong" I even wink that made her roll her eyes before finally putting the call down. After the call, I kill time watching random videos of SungJoy in Youtube until New Year came.
