Rey POV
I'm alone. Meditating. Feeling at peace with the world for the first time in awhile.
And then Leia visits me.
She appears before me in a hazy glimmer of light, her eyes soft. I get the feeling she's come to check up on me and... and the baby.
"I've been feeling better, recently, and eating more than usual, but I guess that's normal," I tell her.
She opens her mouth to speak, but is interrupted by a knock at the door.
I walked over to the door and open it. I'm not very surprised when I see who it is.
"Hey, Finn," I sigh.
Finn lets himself in and asks, "Can I talk to Leia, while she's here?"
"Sure... want me to go?"
"Kind of."
"Alright... not like it's my room, or anything."
I leave Finn to talk to Leia as I make my way to the dining hall.
When I get there, it's Connix who greets me.
"Hey, Rey! Haven't seen you in a few days... you okay?" she says, nervously.
"Yeah, it's nothing," I lie. I sit down beside him, and we're soon joined by Rose, Poe and Jannah. I get the feeling that this is some kind of ambush.
"Do you know what's been up with Finn lately?" I ask, sending suspicious looks in everyone's general directions.
Poe looks away, eyes darting around in order to avoid my stare. "N-no, I'm not quite sure."
I don't believe him for a second.
"Poe?" I ask, leaning in to him as if I were interrogating him.
He sighs. "He knows."
"Knows what?"
Poe looks around at everyone sitting at the table. I'm confused when I see them nodding at him expectantly. "He knows about the baby. We all do."
My jaw drops, heart sinking into my chest as I dig my nails into my hand. "What baby?"
"Your baby. You've been pretty obvious, lately," says Rose, gingerly putting her hand on my shoulder to comfort me.
I slap her hand away. "That's insane. Who would the father be? Like, have you seen me with anyone?"
"We all just assumed, I don't know... that it was Finn," Jannah mumbles, scratching the back of her head.
"Yeah, and I guess that's okay if he is," Rose smiles awkwardly. "He's a great guy, and he seems to care a lot about you."
My eyes widen. "Kriff, no, it isn't Finn!" I turn to Poe. "You thought it was Finn? Really?!"
Poe shrugs.
"Ah-ha!" Connix shouts, quieting down as people turn to stare. "You admit there's a father!"
I roll my eyes, the effort to keep this thing a secret having become completely pointless. "Fine."
I tell them everything. About my love for Ben. My death, and what Ben had to do to bring me back to life. It's safe to say that everyone's a little stunned.
"Please, guys," I plead to them. "Don't tell anyone about this... at least until it's obvious. I just want things to stay normal for as long as they can."
They all nod, still blown away by what I'd just told them.
"We won't tell anyone," Jannah assures me. "Can't say the same for Finn... he's been going roque with this whole 'confronting Rey' thing. That's probably why he's been acting so strange around you, and why he isn't here."
