{Thomas's POV}
How could the person I previously despised for ages now be making my day? Normally I wouldn't have been so desperate for someone to reply to my texts, I wouldn't have spent my time worrying so much over someone else's problems, however over the past three days I'd been concerned for Alexander, and now that I was hanging out with him, he was making me laugh. Of course, I loved my best friend Jemmy, but he was very quiet, and not very vocal with opinions or other things of the sort, Alexander however always spoke his mind, he was sarcastic, abrasive, which yes, caused us to butt heads at times, but he was also very charismatic and funny, entertaining. We were exchanging a couple of comments and jokes when the door was pushed open by Matt who had an envelope in his hand. Unfortunately for me, I didn't understand what was next said.
"Hey Alex, casi olvido que esto era con el correo cuando lo recibí antes, es del hospital."*
(*I almost forgot that this was with the mail when I received it before, it's from the hospital.)"¿Del hospital? Déjame ver entonces." Alex pushed himself off the bed, grabbing the envelope and opening it up, "Son las facturas de su estancia en el hospital, Matt, ¡esto es por más de ochenta y ocho mil dólares! No sé cómo podré pagar esto..."*
(*From the hospital? Let me see then. It's the bills for her hospital stay, Matt, this is for over eighty-eight thousand dollars! I don't know how I can afford this...)"Lo resolveremos, trataremos de no pensar demasiado en ello, ¿de acuerdo? Podemos hablar de ello mañana cuando tu amigo no esté aquí."*
(*We'll figure it out, try not to think about it too much, okay? We can talk about it tomorrow when your friend's not here.)Alex nodded, though he still had a concerned expression, Matt exited and Alex returned to sit beside me once again.
"Is something wrong?" I asked, seeing as there were only two words I understood Hospital and Amigo, which was not a lot, however, I had been taking French since sixth grade, so I didn't understand Spanish except for the bare basics.
He looked at the letter in his hand, seeming to contemplate whether or not to tell me, I heard him sigh and then he let the letter drop into his lap, "It's hospital bills, and I thought that my debt was bad enough..."
How much money could one guy be asked to give? Especially one still in high school. "How much is it? If you're cool with me asking."
"Over eighty-eight thousand..." He mumbled, clearly stressed over the situation.
"You've gotta be kiddin'."
"Wish I was... That doesn't even include the ambulance bill I got when my mom was first in the hospital... With that, it'd be over ninety-four thousand in hospital bills alone, forget my other debts..." He buried his face into his hands for a moment before then sliding his hands over his unkempt hair.
"My god... That's ridiculous..." I bit my lip and decided to place a hand on his shoulder, once he looked towards me I offered him a smile, "Hey, I'll try to help if I can... After actually gettin' to know you, you aren't as annoyin' as I thought you were." That smile of mine turned into more of a smirk.
He looked at me, blinking a couple of times before letting out a snort of a laugh, then he lightly shoved me, "Shut up! Don't act like you don't have your moments!"
I laughed myself, "Now when did I ever make that sort of claim?"
He paused, huffed, and then mumbled again, "Shut up..."
