{Alexander's POV}

Getting off the plane was a great relief, although I had been a little freaked by the landing and ended up grabbing onto Thomas's arm. I had to shoot another glare at the hag who'd been sat next to me, because even though she hadn't made any comments in the middle of the flight, at least not verbally, but she had scoffed again at me holding onto Thomas's arm. I tried my best to ignore this however because we were on my island, and I had the upper hand here because I'd spent seventeen years on this island, meanwhile, Thomas knew barely a thing about it.

"Well, we're gonna be on an island all week, time to learn how to surf?"

"Ha. I think the fuck not, Tom." I answer, rolling my eyes, grabbing his hand and lacing our fingers, walking next to him to go and pick up our suitcase.

We waited what felt like forever until finally our suitcase came rolling by and we picked it up before it could escape us.

"I've gotten to see your life since I started living with you, now you get to see what mine was like," I told him, the two of us starting to walk towards the exit of the airport.

To be honest, I felt like a giddy excited child, St Kitts and Nevis was rather small, I knew everyone there, or at least most of them, I knew the shops, the streets, the shortcuts, I knew where to get the best stuff for the cheapest price. New York was large, bustling, confusing. St Kitts and Nevis? Now, this was familiar, easy, simple.

Walking out the doors I immediately pulled off my hoodie, and tied it around my waist, taking in that light warm breeze, and that salty seawater tinged air. I took a large inhale, then looked around, "Welcome to the furthest thing from your first-world city, Thomas."

"Holy shit, it's beautiful here... You got to live here for seventeen years... I would've hated moving away..."

I looked at him,  "Yeah, no shit." I chuckled, turning my gaze now to the colorfully painted buildings, "I wasn't exactly big on New York at first, I love it now, but when I first moved? I didn't see why... Sure we were poor, but we'd always been poor, always would be, plus we knew everything here. Turned out better than I thought in the end... Even with all that happened... We ended up together."

"Damn, you're getting pretty sentimental aren't you?" He teased slightly.

"Hey, this is my week of teasing, plan your own week."

This got us both to chuckle, but then relatively soon the car we scheduled to take us to our hotel arrived, didn't need to be lugging a suitcase around all day as I showed Thomas some highlights after all.

~~~
We didn't spend much time at the hotel, all we did was check into our room and leave our stuff in the bed of our room, since we could get situated later, I wanted to start showing him around some of the places I missed the most after all.
I was very quick to lead him back out of the hotel, practically jogging down the street towards a bakery my mother and I used to go to all the time, the owner was like a second mother to me, and she said when we moved away from that if I ever visited I better say hi to her first.
"You're eager to get somewhere." Thomas chuckled, and I gave a small chuckle.
"Yeah, we're going somewhere I used to go to every day after school, the owner was like my aunt," I answered, I was so excited to see her again, I could use her familiar friendly smile.
Upon reaching the quaint yet colorful bakery I pushed open the door, causing the small bell above the door to give a small jingle. This alerted the owner, whom I called Aunt Vea, who looked over and immediately smiled.
"Alex! I thought it would be much longer till I got to see you again!" She immediately circled the counter and hurried over, hugging me, "How are you dear? How's the first world treating you and your parents?"
"I'm doing well, a bit of a long story though..."
"Oh, well, in that case, I just made some coconut biscuits, your favorite, so let me go grab the plate of those and then you can tell me all about and introduce me to your friend here." She replied before hurrying into the small kitchen in the back to grab the biscuits.
I led Thomas to one of the tables and the both of us took a seat, pretty quickly Aunt Vea returned out, and she set the biscuits on the table before sitting with us.
"First things first, Thomas, this is Aunt Vea. Aunt Vea, this is my boyfriend Thomas."
"Aunt Vea?" Thomas questioned.
"She's not really my aunt by genetics, but she's more like my aunt than my real one, haven't been in contact with my real aunt for a long time."
"Six months in New York and you already have a boyfriend? I'm so happy for you!" She smiled, "And how about your parents?"
"Well... My dad was actually cheating, just a couple of weeks after we moved they divorced and he moved out to go live with the other family he apparently had somewhere else in New York... And my mom died about a month ago..."
"... Oh my goodness, I am so sorry... I can't believe... I can't believe James would do that to poor Rachel, your mother was an amazing woman."
"She was... I'm sure she would've loved coming back here and seeing you again, she always loved the coconut biscuits you gave that I could bring back for her and me."
"Well I'd known your mother for so long, she was like a little sister to me, I was there when she got married, and I was there at her baby shower, I've known you your whole life, I couldn't just not give my favorite boy some extra treats."
"Embarrassed?" Thomas teased, as I gave a sheepish smile at what the woman had said.
"Shut up, Tommy," I replied, picking up a biscuit and shoving it in his mouth, they were really good so him eating it oughta shut him up for a few moments.
Vea laughed at this, then shook her head, "I missed you so much, I'm sure New York has been amazing for you other than your parents, but I did love how you stopped by every day after school, it was so fun getting to talk to you every day."
"I've missed you too," I answered, "I can guarantee I don't have any bakeries in New York I can go to after school to get the best coconut biscuits in the world... I don't even think they have them there."
"Now that's just a crime, isn't it?"
The conversation, the familiar smile, the warming presence. Yeah. This is an amazing day.
