{Thomas's POV}
Today was a rather peaceful day, a gentle warm breeze, practically the perfect temperature. Due to this fact, I had decided to walk to school, I grabbed some tea to go from a nearby shop and started walking, my black bag swung over one of my shoulders, I would've preferred it to be magenta, but my mother had gone behind my back and bought a black one instead.
I was walking down the street, and I decided to grab out my phone and scroll through some random social media app, completely unaware that as I did my wallet slipped out from my pocket.
I let out a small sigh when after a short few minutes I wasn't finding anything of interest, I stuffed my phone back in my pocket but at that moment noticed that other than my phone, it was empty, "Shit!" I muttered to myself, out of all things to lose I had to lose my wallet? I turned around and began to retrace my steps, hoping to find it left on the pavement.
I was walking, observing the cement beneath my feet when I ran directly into someone, on accident, of course, I was simply focused on trying to find my wallet, which had some cash in it sure, but most importantly it had both my debit card and my student id in it.
I straightened myself up, "Sorry, I wasn't watchin' where I was going--" I turned my gaze up to see who I'd just bumped into, "Hamilton..."
My god, what was this? We go from avoiding the mere mention of each other as much as possible to suddenly running into each other probably five or so times, perhaps more, in the span of two days? That was simply absurd.
"Jefferson," The shorter guy looked up at me, an unamused expression plastered to his face.
"Look, for once in my life I'm not here to try to take down that massive ego of yours... Have you seen a wallet around here?"
"I dunno, I might have, I might not have." A smirk grew on his smug face.
"Are you fuckin' serious Hamilton? Ugh, what do you want?"
"Not sure yet."
"Fine, what about quid pro quo, Hamilton? Tit for tat... Somethin' like that, I need my wallet, okay?"
"Alright, fine, I'll take that." Hamilton reached into the pocket of the hoodie he wore daily and pulled out my wallet, "I saw you drop it, didn't realize it was you who dropped it."
"Okay, I guess I owe you one," I reached out a hand for my wallet.
"Actually... I think I thought of something you might be able to help me with..." He started walking, "Hurry up, I'll talk while we're walking, I don't want to be late."
Fuck this guy, the wallet didn't belong to him, he didn't even search around for it, yet he's demanding a favor out of me?
I began walking, keeping at his pace, and I looked down at him, "What do I need to do for you to hand it over?"
"I need a favor from you... I really need some cash, quickly. I considered a graveyard shift at some job, but that'd be super difficult, so I want you to help me out with my cash situation."
"Why do you need cash?"
"I just do okay? It's important!"
"Fine, fine. I dunno what you're expectin' me to do though..."
"Worst comes to worst... I could use a ride to some places... Walking from place to place takes a long time, I don't like being late, and I don't need to be fired."
"Backtracking, don't you already have a job?"
"Two actually."
"And you're considering getting a third?"
"Yeah, what's it to you?" He huffed.
"No way. I may hate you, but that's ridiculous."
"I need the cash, Jefferson!"
I groaned quietly and mentally facepalmed, "Take the cash that's in my wallet, for now, I'll figure somethin' out. Quid Pro Quo, I already took the deal, I'm not just backin' out now."
I could see Alexander hesitate a bit as if he was unsure as to whether I really meant this or not.
"Shit Hamilton, just trust me for once, I don't have a reason to screw you over right now."
"Fine..." He pulled out the cash and pocketed it before then passing me my wallet, "There."
"See, now that wasn't so hard, was it?"
"Shut up, don't treat me like a child. I was going to give you the damn thing back anyways, just later after I got the cash."
"Oh? Well in that case... Aren't I the one who's owed?"
"What? No! We already made our deal, and we're not going back on it!"
"I'm just being sarcastic Hamilton, get a sense of humor, it'll do you some good."
I could tell he was giving me a side-eyed glare, but I didn't care, you know why I didn't care? Because I was right! He needed to lighten up, maybe he'd be a bit more tolerable, not just to me, but the entire school, it didn't matter whether you hung around Hamilton a lot or not, it was obvious from the talk that while his grades were impressive, he was, well, Hamilton was Hamilton. At least people both respected me and liked me, meanwhile, people tended to only respect Alexander, because he didn't even care to try and make friends, at least not as far as I was aware... The gossip didn't beg to differ, word traveled fast, and it didn't really say much good about Alexander Hamilton.
Ah well, this didn't matter that much to me, yeah I'd prefer not to deal with a stuck up egotistical maniac, but it didn't bother me much past the fact that he acted like he was so much better than me, he usually didn't infringe on my life outside of school at the least, so I didn't have to worry about him after the final bell, except for the rare--or not so rare if you're talking about yesterday and potentially today--occasions in which I'd run into him out and about the city of New York.
At the very least I could take my mind off of the fact that I was apparently doing a favor for the prick as I could see the school in the distance, so instead of figuring out a way to help him with this apparent money situation, because instead, I got to argue how ridiculous his beliefs were first thing each morning, aka debate class, I wasn't just going to start an argument in the halls... Although if he did start getting under my skin in between classes I wouldn't necessarily be opposed. I may be helping Alexander out a bit, but I still hate him, and it's not like that would ever change.
{{A/N: Hey guys! I apologize for not getting this chapter out yesterday, I was editing a few of the past chapters! Anyways, I promised more Jefferson, so here you go! A full chapter of Thomas Jefferson, just in case that was something y'all wanted :) I know that all of my current readers seem to be silent readers, but if you would mind, voting, following, and commenting would certainly be appreciated.
