Chapter 8 - Amalie' POV

(15 mins earlier)

It's about 2 o clock in the morning and very dark since they turn the lights off at night, and I'm on my way back from the bathroom when I see a shadow sprint across the aisle. Being the curious person I am, I decide to follow.

I slowly tiptoe after the person being careful to make no noise. I get to the end of the aisle and stop. I realise that in front of me are curtains, curtains that separate our leaders section. The Governor, is his name I think. I squint my eyes and I see a light behind the curtains move and I hear footsteps. Because of the light I can see the shadow of a man, the Governor.

I barely have time to blink before I see the silhouette of a woman with long dreadlocks jump out at him. If she was trying to be sneaky before she's definitely abandoned that plan as she launches on top of him with a butter knife. The Governor throws her off him and laughs, "ah Michonne"
That must be her name, I think to myself.
He continues "if all you wanted was your sword back, then you could've asked"
Michonne replies to him in a hushed voice "I know what you do, what you did to Andrea,what you did to Penny"
The Governor's voice suddenly sounds desperate "Penny, I didn't do anything to Penny! She's just locked up, I don't want to kill her"
"Too bad I already did" Michonne replies.

I then hear the Governor scream at Michonne and tackle her to the ground. They shout stuff at each other as the wrestle about this Penny and Andrea. I have no clue who they are.

I'm not sure what to do and then I hear a load scream with the words "my eye, my eye"
I really don't want to interfere but for some reason I can't resist opening up the curtain.

They both turn and look at me, well The Governor only looks at me with one eye because a butter knife is stuck in the other. A pool of blood drips from his scarred eye ball.
"Please let me explain" Michonne holds her hands out, "He's an evil man, he killed my friend Andrea."
My mouth stays wide open for a while then I talk, "but you killed Penny, who's Penny?"
"Penny is his daughter, but she was a walker, he'd keep her locked up and then brush her hair" Michonne reassures me.

Just then The Governor gets up and slaps Michonne, "I am not evil, Andrea had to die but Penny didn't"
He then storms off into the corner of his room and pulls a microphone to his lips. These microphones project into every speaker on the walls of Costco, they used to be used for customer services in pre-apocalypse.
"Can everybody please come to the meeting place immediately" the Governor says rather angrily.

He then rushes off down the aisle, blood still dripping from his eye.
I look at Michonne, who looks straight back at me before saying "come on"

We run down some aisles until we reach the meeting point, which was once the customer services. The Governor grabs an old man from the crowd and makes him kneel down.
"Daddy!" I hear Maggie cry.
Michonne and I shove our way to the front.
"Ah Michonne you made it" snarls The Governor as he brings out a long sword. "Now Michonne, you can have your katana back after I do one thing."
Before anyone can do anything to stop him, The Governor pulls back the sword and swings it at Maggie's father's head. My hand slams over my mouth. The sword only cuts halfway through and blood flows out of his neck. The Governor then saws the rest off the old mans head off. Blood stains his white beard.

I swivel my body to see Maggie hunched on the floor in tears, huddling up with a blonde girl about my age with Glenn's arms around her.
Everyone's faces look scared and lots of people are crying or yelling. Then all of a sudden...BANG.

Everyone goes quiet as The Governor falls to the ground. Then the crowd turn to face a blue haired man with a gun in his hand. That's when the chanting happens "CAESER CAESER CAESER!"

I then feel someone tug on my t shirt. It's Kenzie she must've of slept through most of this as she rubs her eyes and asks what happened. I notice that Michonne isn't by my side anymore and see that she is using her sword to stab the Governor, who is still alive or at least was, in half and then in the brain to stop him from turning.

She then holds Caesars' hand up in the air and says "it's because of this man that we got rid of this evil dictator, and I believe that Caesar would make a great leader!" Michonne exclaims "All in favour of having Caesar Flickerman as leader of Costco raise your hand" I look around to see nearly everyone with their hand in the air, I even see Maggie has managed to hold up a finger.
Michonne then proceeds to saying "well that looks like most of us, everyone your new leader Caesar Flickerman"
Everyone cheers, and I guess I should feel happy like everyone else but I can't stop looking at Maggie's father's dead body and head lying on the floor.
