Chapter 16 - Amalie's POV

I'm worried about Kenzie going on her own. Ashton can see I'm hesitant and asks what's wrong.
"I don't know, it's just I rarely leave Kenzie alone unless I have to" I explain.
"Well don't worry Luke will look after her" he pats my shoulder trying to comfort me, "besides they went to the part of the shopping centre where there doesn't seem to be any walkers around"
I swivel around to the direction that Ash was pointing and sure enough there aren't any walkers.
Ashton shakes his head, "they've left the killing to us"
I see the other section of the centre and give out a sarcastic "yay" as the biters roam around the fenced off car park to our right.

I don't know where Fliss, Michael and Calum went but they left to scavenge sometime during mine and Ash's conversation and we realise we should get going too.

We decide to go through a window instead of attempting to make it through the crowd of walkers gathered in the car park.
It's risky breaking the class as the noise can attract more. However it's less of a risk to do this.

We use a hammer tool thing of Ashton's to smash the window in and wait silently for any walkers to appear from the inside. None do. Therefore we decide its safe to climb in. Since Ashton is taller than me, he gives me a leg up and then I help pull him in from the inside.

We appear to be in some kind of stationary store, but it's hard to tell as it seems others have already scavenged this place out. Nevertheless we gather the odd ruler and felt tip figuring it will entertain the kids back at Costco.

We then head into a food shop of some sort - mainly cooking supplies. We begin to load our bags up with what is left. All of a sudden something grabs my arm and I scream. I drop my knife on the floor and can't reach it. It's no use I think, I'm gonna get bit and I'm gonna die! But thank god Ashton soon comes to my rescue and smashes the walkers head in. He asks if I'm okay with a concerned look on my face before hugging me. This takes me by surprise but he does generally seem relieved I'm okay.

After raiding a couple more shops I tell Ashton that I need to get a few things from the pharmacy. What I need to get is some pregnancy health pills and other pregnancy supplies for Maggie. I can't tell Ashton because Maggie doesn't want anyone else knowing at the moment. I give Ashton a list of what other things he can get while I head over to the female hygiene section.

I scramble across the boxes on the floor before finding the right thing. I hear Ashton's footsteps approaching me and throw it into the bag.
"What are you getting?" He asks me casually.
I panic and pick up the nearest box to me, "um these"
Ashton's eyes widen and I look down to see that I am holding a box of condoms. Oh crap.
"You got a boyfriend back at Costco?" He asks me, leaning on the shelves.
I shake my head.
"Then you're pretty confident" he continues.
"No...I... Um..." I don't know what excuse I could use. What he says next takes me utterly by surprise,
"I'll have sex with you"
