Chapter 32 - Amalie's POV

Wow that was shocking. Kenzie has never shouted at me like that before. And not just me; Maggie too! I didn't know that about Fliss, how mean she was. I always knew she was manipulative but I didn't realise she cared nothing for my sister. But she's dead now, nothing to be done about it. Right now we have to face the real problem.

I sigh and put my arm round Kenzie and walk alongside her into the front entrance of the slaughter house. This seems risky but we decided this way was better than sneaking in.

"Hello!" Rick shouts. "Hello? We have came to make a deal with you!"
I then realise I actually don't know what the deal is. I know we are letting them have Gale but they will still want us to leave Amberwood.

Suddenly I hear a creak of a door and see a man with greasy brown hair step out. He puts his hands in the air, "woah, okay! I don't have a weapon and neither do you need one." He smirks, "you said you were here to make a deal, not a war"
Everyone lowers their guns and other weapons.
Out of the corner of my eye I see a sniper on the roof and keep my hand on my gun, ready if anything happens.

"I thought we were coming to you?" The man raises his eyebrows at us.
"We didn't want to make a scene in front of everyone at Amberwood" Rick explains.
"Well you're still going to have to leave Amberwood, you do realise?" The man tells us, "that's if you want Gale"
"We've decided to let you have him, he's not worth us leaving Amberwood" Maggie chimes in.
The man smirks again, "well come on in, it's nice to have guests. I'm Gareth by the way."
"I'm Rick, and no we're not coming in. The deal is done!"
"Hmm...well if Gale is not valuable enough for you, I don't really think it was a fair deal" Gareth laughs.
I notice Gareth's eyes look to the sniper and then his hand gesture sort of towards Beth. I move fast, pull out my gun and shoot the sniper in the head.
"Oh my god!" I hear Kenzie say. I turn around to see about 30 other men with guns come from every direction.
Gareth scoffs with happiness "now that was not smart."

We have no choice but to put our weapons on the floor and be leaded inside the building. I feel Kenzie grip hold of my hand and then I cling onto Beth's with the other. We are herded, like sheep, into a small, dark and damp room. I sniff. It smells of animal guts.
There is a window which looks into the room next door. Gareth invites us to look through the window. In the room is some strange contraption with lots of saws and sharp edges. I can only imagine what that's used for.

At once Gale is brought into the room next door. A blind fold over his eyes. He tries to get away but is handcuffed. He is placed into the machine. Now I don't have to imagine what the machine is used for. I get a live demonstration. It's gruesome and disgusting. As much as I hate Gale I have to turn away. This is horrible and torturous. Not just for Gale but also to watch; knowing it's going to happen to you soon.

When I hear the roar and vibration of the machine turn to a halt I decide it's safe to turn around. I look at everyone's pale, scared faces. I realise it was a mistake to turn around as I see Gale's mashed up body. I feel like I'm about to puke.
"That my friends, is a meat grinder" I hear Gareth's familiar voice say, "amazing isn't is?" He walks into the room and claps his hands together. We all just try to avoid eye contact with him.
"It certainly comes in handy. Much quicker than chopping them up" he continues.
"What do you want from us?" Glenn asks.
"I don't want anything from you, I just want you to leave Amberwood" Gareth tells us.
"No" says Rick
"Why do you want us to leave?" Maggie asks desperately.
Gareth just laughs. And that's when everything goes black.
