I just arrived to school and was putting stuff in my locker. One of my friends and swim team mates approached me. "Hey are you excited for states?" She says
"Yea I am but had to get a dental checkup but it was not that bad" I say
"Oh I haven't went to the dentist for years because I'm a bad kid there I fought the last dentist I was at" she said
"Wait why?" I ask confused why she fought the dentist
"He was trying to put braces on me but I grabbed his arm and twisted it and I jumped out of the chair and got out that appointment.. that doctor never saw me again" she says
"Wow" I say
"So your telling me for to go to states I have to have my medical files updated with checkups?" She asks growing more nervously
"Yes that's why I had the dental checkup" I say
"Who is your dentist?" She asks
"Dr. Stevenson" I say
"Wow he has the same last name as you" Rosie giggles
I kept a straight face. "Dr. Stevenson is my brother"
"Ohh.. god.." Rosie said
"Yea it sucks being a dentists sister" I sigh
At practice *ROSIE POV*
Coach Shelby approaches me.
"Hey Rosie I have a question for you" coach Shelby said
"Yes Coach?" I say
"I was going through your medical records for state and it says the last time you went to the dentist was 2 years ago" Coach says
"Why does that matter?" I say
"Well you need a dental checkup to update your files. You just had a physical it is just a dental" Coach says
"Why is that important" I say
"Because if you don't get one you can't go to states, you need be healthy with your teeth and physically" she said
"Okay coach I will tell my mom" I say
"Okay" Coach Shelby says
SHILOH POV
I approached Rosie.
"Did coach just tell you about needing a dental checkup" I say
"Yes.. I don't wanna go to the stupid dentist" Rosie mumbles
We walk home after practice. We live on the same street.
"Do you even have a dentist" I ask
"No" Rosie says
"My brother is pretty good at his job" I suggested
"Where does he work" Rosie asks
"Urm.. Happy smiles" I say
"Does Dr. Rowell work there?" She says nervously
"Uh I don't know I have only been there once we could go to my house and hang out if you want" I say
We arrive to my house and I walk in, Rosie followed me inside and we took off our shoes.
Charlie looks up at me and Rosie
"Ahh hello Shi" he says and notices Rosie "hey Rose"
"Hi" Rosie says nervously
"She has a question for you" I say
"Hit me" Charlie said
"D-Does Dr. Rowell still work at your office?" She says
"Ahh yes he does, he is a wonderful man why are you asking?" Charlie asked
"Uhh nothing" Rosie Said
Before the orthodontist came along at Charlie's office. Dr. Rowell did orthodontics. And he had his arm twisted by Rosie when he tried putting braces on her.
"She had a bad experience with him" I sigh
"Oh, also are you also in need for a dental checkup before states?" Charlie asks
Rosie went silent. "I-I have to talk to my mom about scheduling one.."
"Oh okay..but I could take you to my office and do it for you instead of searching for a new dentist" Charlie said
"Is Dr. Rowell working?" Rosie asks nervously
"Yes" Charlie says " but we don't have to talk to him, also he does not deal with orthodontics we have s new orthodontist"
"Who is he?" Rosie asks
ROSIE POV
Was Shilohs brother really talking about giving me a checkup at the same office as that monster?
"His name is Dr. Shaun Jones" he says
"Shaun Jones?" I say as I think I know who that is. It is either my cousin or my neighbor I know 2 Shaun Jones.
"How old is he?" I ask
"26" Charlie says
"That May be my cousin" I say
"Oh really?" Charlie says
"Do you wanna get this over and done with? I could call your mom or something?" Charlie offered
"I could call her" I said
I dial my mom and walk in the other room. R- ROSIE M- ROSIES MOM
R "hey mom"
M "hey sweetie"
R "so you know States coming up?"
M "yea"
R "I apparently need a dental checkup"
M- "oh we could schedule you one I could find a dentist for you"
R "but mom you know Shiloh?"
M "yes"
R " her brother is a dentist and is gonna give me a checkup"
M "that is nice of him where is this office"
R " same place as Dr. Rowell but he is no longer an orthodontist and shilohs brother said I don't have to talk to him"
M "oh okay just let me know how it goes wait I have your insurance card and everything"
R "I think I still have a file there with the insurance"
M "oh yea nevermind just let me know how it goes"
R "bye mom"
M "bye sweetie"
I hang up the phone and walk back in the room with Charlie and Shiloh
"So when are we going?" I ask
"We could go now" Charlie said
We all got our shoes on and I grabbed my bag and we all got in Charlie's car and we were off to his office
