Ch 19- braces

SHILOH POV

Today is the day I get my braces and I am not excited.
I've began dreading this the day my brother said I will be getting braces.
I crawl out of bed and head to my bathroom and get ready and brush my teeth, flops and use mouthwash so Shaun will be impressed so he doesn't give me a deep cleaning before my braces.
I head downstairs and Charlie was sitting there sipping his tea. "Good morning"

"Good morning" I say grumpily I grab an apple from the fruit bowl and take a big bite.
"Better eat what you can especially apples and stiff before you get braces" he says

"Why does that matter?" I say

"You can't eat certain foods with braces" he says

"What.. what kinds of foods?" I ask confused

"For one that's apples, I know you can't have sticky foods like Carmel and toffee but I know you don't eat that stuff, chewy foods like gum, but you can eat sugar free gum, hard foods like chips, pretzels, apples and other things but I don't wanna name all that stuff I'm sure Dr.Jones will give you a list" Charlie says

"Okay" I say doubting myself because here goes all my favorite foods.

I get ready and get my shoes on and me and Charlie got in the car and we drive to the office we didn't talk much on the way there.

Once we got there Charlie led me in "do you want me to come sit with you and hold your hand?"
"Sure but you can just watch you don't have to hold my hand" I say
"I can only watch for part of the time I have a few appointments to attend to in a little bit"he says, that's why he was wearing his scrubs

We head in told the receptionist my name and sit down in the waiting room.

Shaun opened the door and smiles "come on back Shiloh"
Me and Charlie stand up and follow him on back.
He lead us to the exam room and I took a seat on the chair and Charlie sat on the other stool in the room and Shaun took the doctors stool and washes his hands
"You excited?" He asks
"Ehh" I say
Charlie chuckles

He snaps on gloves and a mask and applies my bib then reclined my chair and the light.

"So not so excited?" Shaun chuckles
"I won't be able to eat any of my favorite foods" I complain
"Yea I know it sucks but it's gonna be worth it in the long run" Shaun says

He then picks up his mirror and explorer. "Open" he says
Charlie was watching him. He wasn't wearing gloves and mask so it was funny seeing him.

Charlie looks at my teeth one last time before taking the tools out.
"Alright you ready?" He says
I nod
He first grabs the suction tool and dries my teeth till they are bone dry.
"I don't have to brush your teeth because it seems like you already did very well" Shaun says
He then proceeds with the glue and brackets but first he grabs the mouth prop.
"I have to use this to get to your back teeth more easily" he says
I sigh and let him put in my mouth.
He then begins applying the glue and brackets and dries each tooth after he flies the bracket. Charlie stands up and says he had a patient and leaves the room.

"Next is the wire then the bands and you get to choose which color bands" he says

I sigh "could I have light blue"

He nods and grabs the colored bands and proceeds with the wire on my teeth.

It was a very uncomfortable feeling and it hurt.

Once he was done with the whole procedure he hands me a mirror
"Take a look" he says
I look and smile really wide.
"Oh my god I don't like them" I complain

"You'll get used to them but you look as cute as a button" he chuckles and takes my bib off and his gloves and mask.
"Now for the pictures" he says

He takes a few pictures of me with my braces I didn't see a point in this but whatever..

When I was done I go into Charlie's office and sit on my phone and send my friends a picture of me with braces on.

Charlie came in and smiles
"You look so cute"

"Thanks" I mumble

After a little while waiting Charlie and I went home and even stopped for ice cream. Shaun Gave me a list with foods I can eat and not and instructions.

My poor mouth was aching so bad..
