Ch 23- the drill

The next morning it was a rainy one and a day the day I was dreading the most.. the day Charlie is going to fill my cavity. I don't remember if I had one filled one before so let's say I never had one because I don't remember.

I get dressed and get ready and went downstairs. Charlie was doing his usual routine of sitting at the table Drinking tea.

I grab a pod of yogurt and sit down and eat it at the table. I was still so nervous today. I didn't talk to him because I knew he was a bit upset from yesterday.

I finish my pod of yogurt and tossed it and rinsed off the spoon and set it in the sink.

"Are you ready to go?" Charlie asks

"Ready as I'll ever be" I say and go to the mud room and put my shoes on.

Charlie walks in the mud room and also puts on his shoes. We leave the house and lock it up and go to the car and get in and begin driving to his office. We didn't talk much the entire car ride.

We arrive to the office and park the car. Me and Charlie get out of the car and head inside the office. Charlie lead me to an exam room.

I take a seat in the chair not wanting to do this at all but I don't want to fight with my brother. He is obviously more powerful then me.

He places a bib on me, washes his hands and applies his gloves, mask and dental loupes.

He reclined my chair now holding his mirror and explorer.

"Open" he says

I open my mouth, located the tooth then takes his tools out of my mouth then grabs a q-tip with jelly and rubs it on my gum line where the tooth is.

He then preps the needle.

I was growing more nervous by the second. I hated needles so much. If i tried to run Charlie would stop me. 

He finished prepping the needle.

" close your eyes and open wide it shouldn't hurt" he says 

i close my eyes and open wide and he gently injects the needle. It barely hurt but i still flinched a little bit.

Once he is done he takes it out and put it back on the tray. "I will give it a few then i will start" he says, now relaxing for a minute. 

A few minutes he asks me to open my mouth again and he started the procedure. 

It didn't hurt but the drill was a bit scary but at least it did not hurt. He occasionally stopped drilling and used suction and checked with mirror and explorer. 

He finishes with the drill and does the composite and uses a special light to dry it. Then he polishes it and rinses out my mouth. then i was all done with my filling. It did not hurt at all. 

Charlie returns the chair to normal state, removes my bib.He cleans up a bit and removes his dental loupes, gloves and mask

Once he was finished me and Charlie go home and we watched movies and had dinner, school starts Monday and i was very excited to go to school and see my friends again and do swim team!.
