Calum's POV.
I didn't actually know if I should've gone to Luke or not because I was actually scared of Leo. I bit my lip and slowly made my way over to Luke's locker to see Leo talking to him. Luke looked over Leo's shoulder and his eyes begged for help. I didn't know what to do or what they were talking about. All I knew is my locker was the one Leo was leaning against. I admit, I was scared to ask him to move. I tapped on Leo's shoulder and he spun around, warning in his eyes.
"Th-that's my locker." I said and he moved and took Luke's arm bringing him someplace else.
I wanted to break down. I already was actually. Tears formed in my eyes as I looked longingly at Luke. He walked off with Leo. I went up to the library, the most quiet place there was. Usually, in the library here there was a room and in that room was a long corridor. There were glass doors there so teachers could see in there, it was called the study hall. I entered an empty one and closed the door and spread out a few books. I looked in front of me and saw a pretty view of people talking and freshmen getting confused on where to go.
I began to actually study. I haven't been doing well ever since Luke came. I never had time to study and I just kept getting distracted. There was a tap at my door and it was Luke. I let him in and he sat across me.
"What did Leo do?" I asked.
"Nothing. He just showed me around the school even if I've been here for a month now." Luke sighed. "You actually looked scared today, what happened?" he asked and I shrugged.
"You should have said you needed me for something or something like that." Luke said.
"He fucking punched you yesterday Luke, I'm not letting that happen again." I said quietly and Luke's eyes widened.
"You're not like this Calum. Are you actually scared of Leo?" Luke asked.
Yes. I didn't want to tell the truth though.
"You can tell me anything Calum." He said putting his hand on my shoulder.
I slowly nodded and his eyes widened. I could feel tears come back into my eyes. He took my hand in his. He leaned slightly closer and so did I. This was it. We were going to kiss. Our lips brushed against each other's.
I spoke too soon. We were interrupted by the school bell ringing. We groaned in frustration and walked out.
**
School was finally over and I was happy. I walked down the stairs and was shoved and fell. I knew who it was. I looked up to see Leo. I stood up and backed away.
"You still just won't stay away from Luke will you?" He spat.
What? Did he see us?
"Leo!" I heard and Luke was running down the stairs.
"Stop." He said standing in between us.
This felt familiar only that I was the one who was scared.
"Luke, this isn't your fight." Leo said.
That sounded familiar too. Leo pushed Luke to the side and punched me causing for me to fall on the floor. There was a throbbing pain on my left cheek and I felt blood spill out my nose.
"Leo!" Luke screamed.
I punched Leo back but he grabbed my hand and pushed me down to the floor. We were both rolling over trying to hit each other. I rolled on top of him and kneed him in the part and he groaned in pain but rolled us over and punched me straight in the face. Leo suddenly got off me and Luke had picked him up and someone else grabbed my arms and pulled me up.
We both struggled against the people holding us. I stopped when I realized... Luke was holding Leo, not me. I frowned and Luke asked Leo if he was okay. Tears came to my eyes again. I pushed whoever was holding me to the side and stomped off to my car.
"Calum, wait!" Luke shouted.
He grabbed my arm and I shoved him off.
"Go ask Leo if he's alright you asshole." I spat and walked away.
I got a glance of who was holding me and saw it was Michael and Ashton was just watching.
"No, Calum please, don't do this." Luke said, his voice cracking.
"Get the fuck off me!" I shouted and shoved him off so that he fell to the floor.
I didn't care at this point. Screw Luke, Leo was just gonna take him so why not just let it happen? I sat in the car and drove off. I quickly ran up to my room as everyone asked if I was okay. I locked the door and went into the bathroom and locked the door as well.
My nose was red and bleeding, I had a cut on my lip and my eye was bruised and my cheek was pink. I just began to cry. I was so full of sadness all I could do was cry. I didn't know what Luke was doing but didn't care. I opened the drawer to under the mirror and saw a blade.
"I haven't seen you in a while." I said and took off my wristbands revealing scars from freshman year when I thought I was fat.
It was stupid, but I thought cutting would make me cool. Then, I actually did start to get depressed because everyone said I was stupid for doing that and there were bullies who eventually got bored of me so I was fine for two years and a bit. The blade slid across my arm and I winced in pain before sighing and leaning my head back. It felt good, the sadness was being drained. I cut myself twice more before cleaning the blade and putting it away. I cleaned everything up and sat on my bed.
Someone was knocking at my door.
"Who is it?" I asked.
"Mali Koa." She answered.
I unlocked the door and she sat on my bed and I locked the door behind her.
"Do you want to explain to me what happened at school?" she asked as I sat next to her.
"I... I got beat up." I said looking away.
She gasped quietly.
"Why?" she asked.
"... The bullies have come back." I replied.
She opened her arms and I hugged her tightly as a few tears escaped my eyes.
"Why? How?" she asked pulling away.
"Because... because I'm gay, Mali Koa." I said beginning to cry even more.
She was taken aback a little before relaxing again.
"You shouldn't be ashamed of who you are Calum. I still accept you for who you are, I don't care if you're gay, you're still my little brother." She said putting an arm around me.
"Thank you for accepting me." I said quietly and I could sense her small smile.
"Now, who do you like?" she asked.
"This new guy called Luke." I said.
She raised a brow before nodding.
"Go for him. You haven't liked many people before, he's one in a million." Mali Koa said and I smiled before hugging her one last time.
"Okay." I said.
