~Holly's POV~
Tears roll down my cheeks as soon as Mr. Dankworth raises his voice. Then I feel my breathe quicken and my heart starting to race. My whole body begins to shiver in fear and I only hear some distant voices, Jayden's being one of them.
"You triggered her into a fucking panic attack!", he growls at our director, then he's by my side already, gathering me in his arms and swiftly carrying me out of the room.
"Sh, Holly, everything's alright. They can't reach you, okay? I'll protect you", he quietly whispers in my ears. The next thing I feel is him sitting down with me still in his lap.
"Holly? Holly, can you hear me?", Mrs. Mitchel's professional voice suddenly resounds next to us, making me flinch even tho her tone is calm and soft.
I try to nod, but I'm not sure it's visible over my heavy shivering. My breathe hitches once again, making me even more panicked.
I'm going to die, I'm going to die!
My heartbeat quickens even more, it feels as if it's trying to explode in my chest. Hurt blooms in my chest and ribs, probably because I shouldn't breath like this when it's still broken.
"Hey, Holly!", Jayden's quiet voice tries to reach me again. He proceeds to mumble sweet nothings into my ears, gently caressing my back in the process. Minutes creep by like snails, making every second seem like an eternity till my breathing finally calms down a bit. Their voices get clearer again and I'm finally able to properly understand what Jayden's soothing voice whispers the whole time. He tells me that he'll protect me. That he's not letting anything happen to me. That he cares for me.
When I finally calm down properly and my blurred vision turns normal again, I realize that my tears completely drenched the front of Jayden's shirt.
"I'm sorry", I sob quietly, not having the energy for anything else anymore. I'm completely exhausted from the panic attack, my body feels numb and simultaneously hurts. Especially my ribs, but that'd be normal after breathing like this with a broken rib.
"No, don't apologize, it's okay, everything's alright. Nobody's angry at you, don't worry. Let's just get you home so you can sleep it off, okay?", he asks me gently, still caressing my hair and back. I just nod, to tired to do much else. Once he sees my reaction he nods to himself and without waiting for Mrs. Mitchel's approval he leaves the nursery, carrying me in his arms like a baby.
"Imma get us a cab", he mumbles to me, but I'm already half-asleep, to cozy are his strong arms around me. The rest of the way is a blur for me, I don't really catch what happens around me. I'm just content to be on Jayden's lap, protected by his warm embrace.
Somewhere along the line I suddenly feel my bed sheets under me. We're home. Jayden gently lays me down and starts to pull away, when I feel panic rise in me again.
"No! Don't leave me!", I protest loudly, scared to be alone and without his strong, reassuring presence.
Pathetic.
But oh well, I can't really help it right now.
Jayden stops immediately, looking me in the eyes for a second before nodding and sliding in next to me. He pulls me close and I happily snuggle against his protecting chest, finally feeling safe and calm.
"Sleep now, little one", he hums and I nod.
"Thank you", I manage to mumble, before ultimately falling asleep.
