~Holly's POV~
It's a message from Juli. She's asking me if I want to come over to look at her newly renovated room. I don't really feel any motivation, but at least it'll get my mind off of certain things so I quickly agree.
Once again sneaking out of my room, I tiptoe out of the house and reach my car, feeling relief flooding through me.
Ten minutes later I reach Juli's home. It's a mansion way bigger than mine. Her parents really are some rich guys. I mean their kids already have their own investments in shares, speculating with financial thingies I don't know anything about. They taught them at a young age, it just flows in their blood it seems.
I breath in and out twice and put a friendly smile on my face, then I ring their doorbell. It lasts a bit till it finally opens, but then shock floods through me.
Jayden opened me, but he has a huge bruise around his right eye. I suck in a large breathe imagining how painful it must be according to the dark purple coloring.
"Oh my god, what happened to you?", I can't stop myself from asking. His face doesn't falter. He just stares at me for a second and I already wonder if I have something on my face, but then he finally steps back and lets me in.
"It's nothing, I just got into a fight with someone", he answers shortly. "Don't worry about it."
"Don't worry? Dude, you have a big ass bruise on your face! Don't expect me not to care!", I surprise myself with my outburst. But seriously, what does he expect?
A shit-eating smirk enters his godly face.
"So you care about me?"
Looking down at my short frame he raises an eyebrow. I feel myself getting flustered. My face flushes and my gaze automatically wanders down to my feet.
"Of course I care, you're Juli's twin", I explain matter-of-factly, trying to seem as casual as possible.
"Well, come inside, I won't stop you anymore", he replies with sudden coldness. Surprised at his changed tone I look up, but he already turned around and stormed off through some hallway.
I swallow back upcoming tears. I'm not good with being yelled at. Or in this case treated coldly.
Entering the mansion, I go to the bathroom first to try and calm down, then I make my way over to Juli's room and knock softly.
"Yeah?", she asks through the closed door.
"It's me", I answer while entering.
Woah! They really went all out for her room. I already noticed the walls in the hallway being in a new creamy color, but her room just screams homely fluffiness. A broad new bed for two, wooden furniture and creamy brown main colors mixed with nice multicolored accents.
"Girl, this is amazing!", I tell her in awe. She laughs happily and nods along.
"I was able to have the last say in everything, I just love it!", she squeals excitedly. I smile brightly, ignoring the still present pain in my heart.
We chat about her room and her funny personality succeeds in making me laugh in between, yet I'm way more reserved than usual and she eventually notices.
"What's wrong, Holly? You seem like only half of you is here."
I squirm under her stare. She always got me to tell her eventually. Only a few things didn't make it through yet.
"Uhm, well... I kinda had an encounter with uhm... J- Jayden and I don't know what I did wrong, but he kinda stormed off afterwards. Like he opened the door and I asked him about the black eye and he asked back if I cared and when I said yes he stormed off", I try to explain, the words tumbling out of my mouth now that I finally get to telling her.
"Woah. Ok, wow, I don't know. He told me, he got into some fight", Juli mumbles. "Tho I don't really believe that's everything."
I frown.
"He told me the same. I don't even care what happened, I just want him to be alright", I admit silently, finally letting my feelings come through. Juli looks at me with a gaze full of sympathy.
"I'm sorry, he just can get like that sometimes", she murmurs sadly. I just shrug, trying to fight back my tears. All of this tears open old wounds and now his obvious rejection shows me once again, that I'm just a burden to everyone. For example Juli: I should be talking with her about her new room, instead I use her to calm myself down.
I should just disappear already.
