Tony Stark X Reader
Warnings: none?

(Y/N) had been lazily leaning against the kitchen counter. Bucky and Steve stood at the other end of it to her right. They had been talking to her, but once the pair began flirting she'd lost interest and let her gaze rest on the New York skyline that sat out of the window, over on the other side of the room.
She'd just been letting her mind wonder as she admired the view when Tony appeared in her line of sight, that cocky grin plastered on his face as he swaggered over to her.
"Well someone's awfully confident, what have you screwed up this time" she teased when he got close enough.
"I haven't screwed anything up" he lent in to give her a kiss on the cheek as he spoke.
"Well that's a first, what could you possibly want from me then?" (Y/N) placed her hand on her chin as if she was deep in thought.
"Can't a guy just spend some time with his girlfriend?" He asked innocently.
"Don't get me started on spending time together T, you won't like how the conversation ends" She gave him a playful jab in the chest before heading over to sit on the coach, leaving the two flirtatious super soldiers in the kitchen. "I bet you twenty dollars and a date night that those two will get together by the end of the week" she said gesturing to the two men.
"You're on, if I win I get to pick the next date night and you have to help me in the lab next week" Tony replied sticking out his hand for her to shake, which she did with a wink.
"So what did you want?" Tony sat down next to her and she rested her head on his shoulder.
"I figured out why you haven't told anyone your age or birthday even though we've been dating for two years" this peaked (Y/N)s interest, there were many reasons to not tell someone your age or birthday and over the years she'd been on the team she had doged the question like wildfire. Her entire footprint on the internet had been erased completely until she joined the team. She made sure of that.
"I told you why, a lady never tells" she responded "and it's rude to keep asking" she added.
"Nope that's not why" he said with a smug grin on his face, she lifted her head to look at him and he turned to look at her. She furrowed her eyebrows, had he really figured it out?
"Pray tell then T" she said placing a chaste kiss on his lips.
"You don't know it!" He exclaimed triumphantly.
"I don't know? Pft that's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard" she lifted herself from the sofa and made her way down the hallway. She wasn't sure where she was going, she just wanted to get away from the conversation.
Her boyfriend grabbed her arm and turned her round to face him before she could make it any further.
"I think it's been so long that you don't remember, my guess is you lost track when you went on the run and it's not like you could Google it seeing as you destroyed any and all records of yourself. You said it yourself when I first met you, I believe your exact words were 'I don't even remember who I am anymore' I'm right aren't I?" Tony was so busy being proud of himself, he hadn't noticed the silent tears running down his girlfriends face until he heard her stifled sob and looked down at her.
"You're a jerk Tony you know that?" She sobbed out "you just had to be right didn't you. So what I don't know my stupid birthday, what does it matter? It clearly wasn't important enough for me to remember it anyway" she pulled away from his grasp and stormed away to their bedroom.
She sat there desperately trying to remember how old she was, despite knowing she couldn't. She'd stopped celebrating birthdays at some point, there really hadn't been time for them or friends to celebrate with. She sat thinking for what felt like hours.
"Mrs Stark-" Friday began, a small snicker escaped (Y/N)s lips at Tony's insistence to have the AI call her by his last name with the promise that one day she'd have it anyway.
"My name is (Y/N) (L/N) Friday, although how can I even be sure of that" her voice dropped to a quieter tone as she continued her pity part for herself. She chose the life she had and it'd turned out better than it had for most, shouldn't she be at least grateful for that?
"Ms (L/N), Mr Stark is at the door" the AIs voice came again.
"Tell him to go away" she sobbed once again. She hates Tony seeing her upset, but this time she didn't want him to see her simply because he'd caused the upset and even then it hadn't really been his fault. No she was more upset with herself for forgetting her own birthday. She heard the door click open and didn't bother to turn around knowing that it was Tony.
"I thought Friday told you to go away" her voice was now croaky from all the crying."She did and I thought it was very rude of her. (Y/N) I'm sorry, I wasn't thinking" he said hanging his head.
"No you never think!" She exclaimed, willing her head around to face him, she was about to make her next point but stopped herself when her eyes rested on Tony's hands "what's that?" He shrugged and lifted the square object a little as if inspecting the ornate (f/c) wrapping paper and big gold bow.
"Oh it's nothing, just thought I'd get you a birthday present. You know because it's your birthday and I'm such a brilliant boyfriend" Tony sat down on the bed and watched as his girlfriend crawled across the bed to sit next to him, her eyes glued to the present before looking up at him.
"It's not my birthday?" She said although it was more of a question. Had he somehow found out when her birthday was?
"You never know it could be" Tony placed the gift in her lap and a kiss on her head.
"We don't even know how old I am" she commented looking down at the present that had been given to her, when had she last had a birthday present? She couldn't remember.
"I'll have Bruce work on that" he smiled at her "well are you going to sit there all day or open it?" He elbowed her lightly in the side. He looked at her with adoration as she ripped through the wrapping paper and pulled out her gift.
"Is this?" She asked looking to Tony.
"That little vintage teddy bear you saw in the shop window on our first date and fell in love with, but absolutely refused to let me buy it for you?" He finished her sentence and she nodded slowly in complete awe of the teddy "yes it is" he confirmed. She looked between the small bear and Tony, her eyes filled with that childlike awe and wonder.
"He's in better condition then when we saw him" she stated, straightening out the red ribbon tied round the bears neck.
"I had him restored" A wide smile spread across her face.
"Thank you Tony" she launched herself onto him and wrapped her arms around him. He grunted a bit as the wind was knocked from his lungs but returned the hug. He placed a kiss on her head before nuzzling his face into her hair and inhaling her scent.
"I love you, happy birthday baby" he muttered.
