Natasha Romanoff X Reader

Warnings: honestly for a Natasha X Reader there's not a huge amount of romance I guess??

Sorry for the slow updates, I'm trying to work on the requests I have but mental health is a bitch so thought I'd throw something that I already had written out for you guys

Thanks for being patient with me <3

"I'm so sorry, I have to go (Y/N)" he fretted, as he turned on his heels to run off.

"No, no don't worry about me. I'll see you next time" (Y/N) assured him as he ran off.

Now she regretted her decision, it was dark outside and she was on her own. The pride coffee cup in her hand now felt more like a rainbow target.

She turned another corner, her footsteps pounding against the concrete as she goes along the route home. Feeling increasingly unsteady on her own, she noticed another woman had been waking a similar route as her for a few moments.

She crossed the road to the woman, her face was half shrouded in darkness, but she had an air of authority that seemed to soften when she noticed the (H/C) haired girl calling her name.

"Ms?" (Y/N) repeated once more. This time the woman turned, she briefly eyed (Y/N)'s cup and she momentarily panicked that the other woman was about to lash out at her for the small rainbow item, but instead she thought she saw the woman smile softly under the light.

"Natasha" the woman said, her voice sounded soft, like velvet.

"Sorry?" (Y/N) questioned.

"My name, Natasha" the woman confirmed.

"Oh well Natasha, my friend left me and I didn't realise how dark it was when he went. We seem to be walking in the same direction, so we'd probably be safer together" (Y/N) explained.

"Well..." Natasha began before realising she didn't know her name.

"(Y/N), (Y/N) (L/N)" she introduced.

"Well (Y/N) your friend sounds like an asshole for leaving you to walk home in the dark" she pointed out as the pair began walking.

"He was called away on urgent business, it's hardly his fault" she defended.

"Oh" Natasha asked, cocking an eyebrow that couldn't be seen in the dark "what business is more important than making sure you get home safe?" She asked.

"You ask a lot of questions" (Y/N) giggled "I'm not sure exactly what it was this time, but he's an Avenger" this only piqued Natasha's interest even more.

"Bunch of idiots" she scoffed.

"I have to disagree. Yeah sometimes the they can fuck up, and Tony Stark is, well Tony Stark, but you have to wonder how much of that is the media. I think we've all been focusing on how much they screw up a bit too much, I mean they save sooo many lives. Even Bucky Barnes is a good person" (Y/N) let out a sigh, hoping that maybe she'd at least convinced Natasha. The last thing the Avengers needed right now was another person that disliked them. "If there's one thing I'm certain of its that Sam, Sam Wilson, he's a good man. Just wants to do what's right"

Natasha listened intently as the pair walked, it wasn't all that often she heard someone defend the Avengers as politely, yet passionately as (Y/N).

"Well this is me, thank for walking me home" (Y/N) said, planting her feet and pulling out her door keys with a light jingle.

"It's been a pleasure" Natasha said as she turned and made her way back to the tower.

"WILSON!" Natasha yelled as she stormed into the living room. Sam shot up from his seat on the sofa, unsure of what he'd done to insight Nats wrath.

"Y-yes Natasha. Please don't hurt me whatever I did, it was Bucky!" Sam pleaded.

"Hey!" Bucky yelled, before swiftly exiting the room out of fear that Natasha would believe him.

"YOU LEFT THAT SWEET LITTLE FRIEND OF YOURS TO WALK HOME ALONE. IN THE DARK!" She screeched, suddenly feeling far too protective over (Y/N).

"My friend?" Sam questioned.

"(Y/N), (H/C) hair, (E/C) eyes, adorable little face. Or have you already forgotten about her after you left to go on your so called mission" Nat snapped.

"Woah in my defense Cap made it sound urgent! Wait did you say her face was adorable? How do you even know her?" Sam barreled out. Natasha did her best to keep herself composed and focus her anger on Sam.

"I walked her home, she was scared after you left her alone. In. The. Dark. She could've been killed. She so sweet and innocent, she even defended Tony for crying out loud!" Natasha wasn't really thinking about her words, she was just focused on her worry for (Y/N) and Sam's stupidity.

"Someone defended me? Sounds stupid if you ask me" Tony commented from across the room. Natasha turned to him with a death glare.

"Call her stupid again and I'll end you Stark. You should greatfull" Natasha said, but her voice was now eriely calm.

~

"Hey Sam" (Y/N) greeted as she sat down across from Sam, setting her coffee on the table. "Where's that friend you brought with you?" She asked.

"She just left for the bathroom, should be back any second now" Sam just managed to get his sentence out when Natashas hand came to rest on his shoulder. At first (Y/N) didn't recognise her, as her face was shrouded in darkness the last time they met. That was until she greeted her with a 'nice to see you again' and her voice was immediately familiar.

"Oh my- Sam- Sam?" She whispered harshly in his direction, he laughed in recognition "I think she walked me home after you abandoned me last time"

"I did, and I came to make sure this asshole apologizes. Idiots, all of them" she muttered with a soft smile and an omph when (Y/N)'s small frame knocked into hers, pulling her into a hug.

"Told you she was a hugger" Sam commented.
