Sam Wilson X Reader

Warnings: look I'm sorry I wrote another one but I just think it's so cute. This one takes place before the other two.

(Y/N) plopped herself down on the couch. An oversized T-Shirt pulled over herself and a bowl of pasta in her hands. She'd just settled down and scooped her first mouthful of pasta onto her fork, when the doorbell rang scaring her half to death. Pasta tumbled down her shirt leaving a trail of red sauce in its wake.

She grumbled to herself as she shoved some books over onto the floor to make space for her pasta bowl. She stood up and headed to the door, it was probably Timmy from upstairs bothering her about that damned cat.

She yanked the door open.

"For the last time Timmy I haven't seen your cat- Sam?!" She asked, shocked as her brain registered who she was talking to.

"Who the hell is Timmy?" He asked with a laugh.

"Timmy is- he lives upstairs. What are you doing here?" She rushed out.

"A mission went sideways and Tony's being an ass. I know this is short notice but Cap gave me a couple of days off. Can I stay here?" He asked. He'd never stayed overnight at (Y/N)'s house before, and he probably should have texted before hand.

He gave her a nervous smile.

"I can sleep on the couch" Sam stated.

"I can barely sit on the couch at the moment. I'm sorry, everything's a bit of a mess at the moment, but you're welcome to stay" she smiled awkwardly.

She always told Sam her apartment was a mess, and it was always tidy, spotless even. This time it was in fact a mess.

The entry way was a scattering of shoes that had been haphazardly kicked off on the way in.

"You can um just leave your shoes anywhere. I'm really sorry about all the mess. I haven't had time to tidy and I wasn't expecting people this week" said (Y/N) as she jumped over a pile of bags on the floor.

"It's uh- it's fine" Sam assured as he followed her down the small path she cleared by kicking objects to one side.

She cleared a small space next to the one that was available on the couch so both her and Sam could sit down.

"Have you eaten?" She asked as she picked up her pasta.

"I had a sandwich on the way here" he confirmed. She stabbed a forkful of pasta and pushed it towards him. With a smile and a laugh he opened his mouth allowing her to feed him.

"Do you wanna talk about your mission? Or Tony?" She asked.

"No. I don't think so" he hummed "what happened to your TV?" He asked, gesturing to the space where her TV and TV stand used to be but was now occupied by cardboard boxes, screws and wood.

"In the kitchen. I got a new TV stand from IKEA but I can't figure out how to put it together" she grumbled. Sam perked up as he stole another forkful of pasta from her.

"I can help" he said around a mouthful of food.

"Close your mouth when you eat, no one wants to see that" she laughed as she reached a hand up to nudge his jaw shut with a grin. "I don't want to make you work on your days off" (Y/N) argued. Sam swallowed his food.

"It's not working. It'll be fun" he confirmed. (Y/N) leaned her head on his shoulder as they shared pasta in a comfortable silence.

"Do the washing up, and I'll try tidying a bit?" She asked.
