Brooklyn

I allowed Xander to make the plan since he was experienced but mainly because I needed a break. I still couldn't believe that I almost killed her. What have I gotten myself into?

"So, there are four more people in the red team, one currently looking for our flag and three guarding their flag against us."

"What do you think we should do," Yori said

"Well, most likely there will be someone guarding the flag against the front, and the rest would be on either side of the flag so we would have to figure out a way to distract them and pull their attention away from the flag," Xander said knowingly.

"How about two of us deflect two of their team members so their will only be one person to guard the flag so that it will be one against one. Yori and I can distract them, and you could go for the flag. When you get it, you know what to do."

We agreed to go with the plan, so for the next five minutes, we accumulated anything we could find that could be beneficial in some way. But I queried how the rest of the team was going with that boy we left behind. I hope he didn't cause much trouble. I hope Xiomara wasn't such a pain in the butt. Now I reflected on if I made the right choice in making her stay back there because that decision would affect how smoothly the plan would run. Actually, now that I Think about it, she would probably jeopardize this plan by just standing still.

When Brooklyn and the others left, we went behind a tree and dropped down to the ground with our guns pointed in front of us just in case someone came by.

"I am not lying down on the ground. You'll get me to that over my dead body," Xiomara said, crossing her arms.

Well that can be arranged and I'd be more than happy to do it.

Don't tell me she isn't doing this, is she serious. Why on earth did we agree to keep her? She is definitely trying to get us caught right now. We could always shoot both her arms and legs make her paralyzed and leave her here till the end of the game.

"Sit your butt down Xiomara, you'll get us caught, and we'll have one less of a team member meaning a lesser chance of winning. Don't be difficult," I told her, still laying on the ground. To be honest, we'd probably win without her.

"I can easily hide behind this tree and not get caught. I don't need to lay on the ground to be hidden."

I was so annoyed. My knuckles began to turn white from clenching it too hard and gritted teeth in efforts to remain calm and not say anything I would regret later. My anger came like an impossible build-up of steam, burning on the way out, burning the one on the receiving end.

"XIOMARA! GET ON THE GROUND NOW!" I shouted at her.

"But...."

"I SAID NOW!"

She slowly but surely laid on the ground like the rest of us quaking in fear. Tyler watched me as if I was insane for shouting at her so much, but she deserved it. I couldn't help myself. She just wouldn't listen. All she was worried about was herself, and that kind of attitude would get us nowhere, and I don't intend to lose this game. I know it was just a game, but I just felt the urge to win more than usual.

From about a foot away, we noticed A boy coming our way. Every step he took, he watched around looking for any sight of our flag. I observed him carefully trying to figure out the right time to shoot him because if I shot him too early, I might miss the shot. After that, he will surely be on high alert and might spot us. I can't take that risk.

I glanced at Xiomara, making sure she wasn't doing anything out of the ordinary to blow our cover. Thankfully she wasn't, or else I would have definitely flipped. I removed my eyes and saw that that the boy stopped walking. He watched behind as if he was looking for someone.

"Anika" he shouted

"Where are you?"

No one answered him. Brooklyn and the other must've taken care of her. It was good to know that they were still in the game. The boy's failed attempt of calling the girl stopped after calling her a few more times.

He then began to panic, finally etching upon what might have happened to her. You could see the fear in his eyes. His hands began to tremble as he kept watching around over and over again.

Sweat begins to trickle down his forehead as he brings his gun even more near to him and grips it tightly. His chest heaved up and down by the second.

This boy is weird. This will be so easy just to shoot him. He looks like he is about to poop his pants right here right now. Tyler looked at me, silently laughing at the boy's demeanor.

The boy raised his gun, pointing it everywhere.

"If anyone is here, I have a gun, and I am not afraid to shoot you," He forced out.

I had no time at all to react since I was focused on what the boy was saying. Xiomara got up with her gun in her hand, pointing it at the boy. She pulled the trigger, and it didn't even touch him. He snapped his head in Xiomara's direction, pointing his gun at her.

"Put your gun down," she shouted.

" No, I don't follow your rules."

In the blink of an eye, he pulled the trigger, and it hit Xiomara right in her stomach. Tyler and I quickly came out from where we were, and before the boy could escape, Tyler shot him, making him fall to the ground.

We rushed over to Xiomara. She lay there, clutching her stomach.

"I'm not even mad. You deserved that, you can't follow any rules. Wait till Brooklyn hears about this."

If we weren't busy right now, I'd be rolling on the ground clutching my stomach and laughing butt off.

She refused to answer me. Serves her right. Tyler and I waited right where we were to guard the flag. Although I really wanted to be the one to get the red team's flag, I had to stay here and protect ours, or else it would be at a high risk of getting captured by the other team.

Right now, I really wished that I was at home. I was quite fed up with these games, to be honest. I missed my parents and my younger brother so much. His smile would easily make my entire day brighter. I wasn't tired, but I was just homesick. I'm sure we all are. At least we were getting money out of this. When I get home, my parents would be so proud of me, no doubt about it.
