Brooklyn

Inside the bunker was large. When we entered we had to go down some stairs to get to it. It was much bigger than I had expected because I thought that the bunker was totally above ground.

Keith put on the light for the entire area and there was 50-inch tv hanging up on the wall and a enormous table with chairs surrounding It. I limped across the room and in the hallways.

There were a few bedrooms in the bunker. Not entire bedrooms but rooms with beds in it. When I walked further down the hallway I spotted a room marked food supplies. My heart lept inside my body knowing that there was food inside that room. I opened the door and noticed shelves  were everywhere packaged with food.

"Guys get over here, there's food" I squealed.

Everyone rushed inside of the room like a stampede of cows.

"Holy, moly that's quite a lot of food, looks like we're gonna have a feist inside here."

I walked towards one of the shelves and talked out something from the box. In a clear sealed plastic bag, there was a sandwich, it looked like it had cheese and sausage inside of it. I ripped open the plastic off of it and took a bite.

It was like heaven in my mouth. The most enjoyable thing I've ever had in days. When I looked around everyone was eating something different and seemed like eating was the best thing in the world right now. I took something else to eat and went back to the main area and sat at the table.

A huge delicious slice of pizza was before my eyes. Now, this is what you call pizza, I don't know what Esmerelda gave us but I would never in my entire life classify that as a pizza that would well be underdog food.

If I could open my mouth wider I would have eaten the pizza in one bite. I ate like if the food was going out of style. I crammed it in my mouth quickly relishing every taste, from the cheese to the green pepper, to the pineapple and pepperoni.

After I was finished eating my full share of food I'm sure a food baby was presently in my belly. My usual flat stomach turned into a pouch. All I needed now was a good rest. I advanced into one of the bedrooms. The walls were grey and there was a small bed in the corner of the room along with a diminutive wooden table to accompany it. I wasn't expecting anything more from a bunker below ground to be honest.

I had forgotten that my stitches in my stomach had ripped because I was so absorbed in food and how magnificent it tasted. I went into the room that Keith was in an told him about the stitches, so he stitched it back again.

I came back into my room and just laid down on the bed staring into space. It was so good to know that all the running away and getting hurt was finally over. We're in a safe place and will be leaving this place for the next two days. My mom must think I'm dead right now, when she sees my face she'll be the happiest woman in the world, no doubt about it.

When I was just about to go to sleep there was a knock on my door. Before I could say come in the person welcomed their self. Yori's head popped through the little opening between the door.

"Can I come in?'

I nodded letting her know that she could come in. As she came into the room I sat up so she could get space to sit on it.

"Why aren't you in your bed." I asked.

"I can't sleep I just needed someone to talk to and you're the only one here that I'd actually want to chat with."

"Well what's up, what did you have in mind?"

"Well I was just thinking about everything we've been through and now we're finally getting to go back home but I don't know how my parents would feel when I get back knowing that I sneaked out and haven't even been back in an entire week. They will surely kick me out, and I have nowhere to go."

"When you get back home just explain everything to them I'm sure they'll hear you out.  Don't think about it too much just get some sleep for tomorrow, we're gonna be here for an entire day more. When that time reaches then you can think about what to do next. Don't stress yourself.'

"Thanks for the talk, see you in the morning."

When she left the room I fell back onto the bed in exhaustion. Everyone was going through things maybe even Xiomara. I've never really gotten a chance to talk to her since the beginning of all this mess when she pushed me off the building.

Even though I was exhausted it only now dawned on me that I haven't taken a bath in days, now that I think about it I feel even dirtier.

I come off of the bed and walked out of my room in hopes of finding the bathroom. No one was outside, everyone seemed o be sleeping. I walked down the hallway where the food room was and saw a door marked bathroom on it.

Thank goodness I found it this quickly I don't think I would want to rome this place any further in the dark. When I opened the door the room was pitch black so I put on the light, I was met with bright white walls, a shower, sink, and toilet. There were clothes and towels folded on a bench.

I stepped into the shower and turned the water temperature on the hottest it could be. Although the water was extremely hot the warmth it brought on this chilly night was amazing.

The water pours down, it drips by my side, as my mind fades into dullness and everything is a foggy illusion. The sensation of the steamy water calms me; it takes my mind off things. All the things I honestly want to forget. My mind swirls, and its like I'm standing under an everlasting waterfall. Ever so beautiful, but it can never last, I know that now.

I bathed my skin lightly, taking careful notice not to touch the bruises that scattered my body. After my shower ended I put on the clothes that I found in the bathroom and slumped to bed feeling satisfied by the bath I just had. I certainly feel clean again and ready for the events of tomorrow. I shut my eyes and immediately drifted off to sleep.
