Xander POV
It didn't take long to find everyone since they were basically hiding and not running away from the drone. When they heard that I had found a shack they were so thrilled because being tired, hungry, and getting no sleep was torture.
When I came back and saw the men trying to kill Brooklyn I hoped into action. Earlier I had taken her gun just in case I ran into trouble and that was the best idea. Brooklyn has enough going on in her life right now, she's been through a lot. Even though I wrapped her injured back and stomach to stop the bleeding she was getting worse. We needed a doctor to take the bullet out of her and to see what was going on inside f her.
A few moments after I came back with the others, I noticed that she was getting problems to breathe. It was hard to see her like this but I couldn't do anything about it. I don't want to try to fix her and then damage her even more.
I put her back onto the bed and told her to rest because the next day we will have to get out of this shack, it's not prudent. Esmerelda probably already figured out that the two people she sent is dead, she will most likely send an entire team of people which we would definitely not be able to take on.
When Brooklyn fell asleep Tyler, Lucas and I moved the dead body and put it in the fiver, however we had no materials to clean the blood so it stayed on the floor like a muddy puddle.
"How are we going to get help?" Xiomara noted.
"The only way we can get help is by getting on higher ground, this might be our only chance because we can't wait here."
"Esmerelda will surely send more of her people to have us killed, no cap," Lucas declared openly.
"Brooklyn doesn't look like she is doing alright," Yori said shakily.
"She isn't, she got shot in her back and it went straight through her stomach, as a matter of fact, she's getting worse.
The only doctor that there probably is around here is in that building we just left and they want to do the opposite of saving her life."Everyone sat on the ground in total silence. I guess they were thinking about life because this is the only time we've had since we came here to really think. With everything going on right now its been kind of depressing because I have never in my life went through this kind of situation, not even in my job.
We don't even know where we are, we could be halfway around the world. The only way is to get on the higher ground quickly and just hope that there is someone close by to see us. If there isn't we indeed toast because I am sure that there is a lot of people working for Esmerelda that she would send out to kill each and every one of us so her secret wouldn't go out into the world.
Whether or not we get out of here I'm going to make sure I put her behind bars if its the last thing I do.
It only had one bedroom and Brooklyn was lying down on it, so the rest had to sit on the floor or partially broken wooden chairs. If this was going to be the last sleep I'm going to get before we leave this place I think I should make the most out of it.
I laid down on the ground and turned on my side using my arms to cushion my head. Everyone slept differently but one sleeping position that surprised me was Xiomara's. Her head was on the ground and her hands were let loose everywhere. That's just weird, looks like a crime scene to me.
I closed my eyes and drifted to sleep however was awoken by Brooklyn screams coming from inside the room. Everyone else was in a deep sleep so they didn't even flinch but I was quite the opposite, every little noise could wake me up. I quickly ran into the room but no one was there.
Brookyn's face is covered in sweat and she was breathing heavily. I went over to her side and rubbed her back to calm her.
"Don't worry it's just a nightmare go back to sleep."
I continued to rub her back whispering words to calm her down and eventually she was completely calmed down. Honestly, I knew how bad nightmares could be, almost every time it feels like it's real when it really isn't.
When my family died and I had to live with my aunt, I went through a lot of therapy sessions because of my nightmares and attempts of trying to kill myself. It isn't easy to get past them but with help, you can.
I tried going back to sleep but I couldn't fall back asleep so I sat down in one of the wooden chairs anded waited for the sun to rise indicating that the next day had begun. My hopes of having a good sleep was gone.
I didn't want to wake up Brooklyn and the others but I had no choices we needed to get moving before Esmerelda's puppets come rolling in.
"I'm in pain, I can't believe I even slept on that hard wooden floor," Xiomara confessed
" Same girl, I think my spine is crying out to me," Yori answered.
I went into the bedroom Brooklyn was in and woke her up. I wrapped my arms around her torso and shoulder to help her get up and walk out of the room. It was tempting to ask how she was going because she was silent the entire time but I already know she wasn't doing okay so I decided not to say anything.
"Could you lend me a hand, this girl is heavy."
"Hey, how dare you call me fat," Brooklyn mumbled jokingly.
Although she was thin she was quite heavy. Lucas saw that I wasn't joking so he came on the opposite side of Brooklyn and copied my actions.
I gave Tyler the gun I had in my hand so that if he noticed anything he'll deal with it and alert us because Lucas and I had the responsibility of carrying Brooklyn around since she couldn't walk properly or even stand on her own.
We exited the shack and began to walk along the river stream. When I went to look for Lucas and the rest of them last night, I saw ranges of mountains in the distance, it was really far away from here but it was our only chance. One major problem is food because starving to death is not one of my top priority.
