Xander Pov
I watched as the men began advancing towards us. We had no other choice but to fight for our lives, we wouldn't have any time to escape and by the way, this ratio looks like 0.01% that we will get out alive. It was 6 of us against 20 of them. They walked slowly towards us and we walked slowly backward not knowing what to do.
"You all need to stop walking and come towards us and we would not harm you."
The bulky one with a thick mustache.
"We don't stand a chance against these men we need to jump off the building"
"Are you crazy we'll die you, idiot; do you have a brain in that little head of yours?" Lucas angrily exclaimed.
"What do you rather, being killed or jumping off a building you might survive the fall of."
"Wait a minute, where's Brooklyn."
We quickly scanned the area and there was no sign of Brooklyn, their friend. These men couldn't have taken her because they just came and my eyes were on them the entire time.
"We need to jump Because we have no chance of getting away if we go back, we're all dead meat and I don't think you want to die this young"
Everyone looked quite fearful at the time but they all nodded their heads agreeing with me. That meant that I would have to leave Juanma and Alvaro behind because they were nowhere near the edge of the building.
"On the count of 3, one, two, three."
We all ran as quickly as we could and jumped off of the building. It was indeed higher than I expected it to be but I've dealt worse. Everyone was screaming for their lives, I mean, I wasn't afraid to die, I had nothing to lose.
We were near the ground now and I tried to brace myself for the hit but my butt didn't implant into the floor as I expected it to. As I opened my eyes, I scanned my surroundings and I was indeed not by the hospital or anywhere near it. I was in the middle of nowhere, with trees and bushes everywhere.
Lucas and the rest of them weren't here anymore. I was so confused. This is not magic; this is not magic I repeated over and over in my head to keep my sanity in check. It was best that I at least try to find the rest of them or find out where I was because this didn't even look like I was In California anymore.
I didn't even know where Brooklyn was, this is another reason I don't do relationships, you'll get close to someone, and then when something happens to them you may not see them again and now you will have to cope with the grief of losing someone you love and I will not let that happen to me again.
Losing both my parents and little sister was more than enough grief that I could take so I shut myself out to everyone, even my friends. Losing someone else would have ended me.
Even though I don't know Brooklyn I know that I'm already catching feelings for her. And I don't do relationships as I said before so I had to get myself together.
I just started to walk in any direction not knowing where I was going. One thing I knew was that I needed something to eat as soon as possible. I was walking for hours now because it was beginning to get dark which was bad.
I didn't have anything to eat, I was hungry and it had nowhere to sleep. All of a sudden, I heard a noise in the bushes nearby. I slid my gun out of my pocket and pointed it towards the bush.
A rabbit flew from the bush and leaped for me, I got so frightened that I shot at it twice in the stomach. I watched down at the dead rabbit that lay right beside my feet. There wasn't any place nearby that had food so I knew that I had to improvise. I collected a few twigs and placed it on the ground in a heap, I then took two rocks and rubbed them together so that it could spark. It took about five minutes before I finally got the pile of twigs to set on fire.
It now dreaded me that I had to take apart the rabbit, which I haven't done before, I'm a detective, not a chef. I took my knife out of my pocket and started with taking off the skin of the rabbit and then began cutting out all the parts of the rabbit that are in the chicken that is the most delicious.
By the time I was finished my hands were all bloodied up. I had no idea what I was doing at this point, I took each piece of rabbit and held it over the fire being careful not to burn myself and that's when I realized that I should have just taken a large stick and push it through the rabbit and then put it over the fire. But who cares it'll taste the same, I'm guessing?
In about half an hour the rabbit was fully cooked and I'll admit I was indeed proud of myself. I knew I couldn't survive on food alone and I needed water. I can only survive a week without water and I don't intend to stay in this place for a week anyway but just in case I'll have to find a fresh water source.
I was surrounded by trees; it was like a forest. It looked like it didn't have any wild animals near me and I didn't hear any animals so I slouched under a tree and shut my eyes.
Before I knew it, I was fast asleep.
