Brooklyn POV

I woke up with a splitting headache. My eyes shot open but I was met with darkness. Though my eyes are open I can't think of why; my heart is pounding, mind empty. It's as if a hypodermic of adrenaline has been emptied into my carotid. I strain into utter darkness, breathing rate beginning to steady.

Why was I even awake, didn't I die? If I didn't die then, where am I? I tried moving my body but it seems like I was in some kind of compact area. There was a blanket covering my entire body so I took it off. It now came to me that I am still in the building. Everyone thinks I'm dead.

I tried to push my way out but I just wasn't working. I was probably in one of those metal draws that they put dead people in.

"O God, that would explain why it smells awful in here."

They've killed people. My heart rate was beginning to spike again and my breathing became rigid and uneven. Sweat dripped down my face and all over my hair. I kicked and pushed but it wouldn't work.

I lay back down trying to regulate my breathing. I can't make progress like this. Breathing in and out slowly definitely calmed my heart but it did not stop the panic that was still there.

Xander and the others left me and now I was all on my own. It wasn't their fault that they had to leave but I was still annoyed that I was left behind.

I bent my knees enough that when I pushed myself self the draw should come out. My body was now folded in half. I counted to 3 and I pushed my body as hard as I could. The entire draw did not slide out but when I looked above my head, I could see a little crack in it. I placed my fingers in the crack and slowly but surely, I was able to push myself out.

When I climbed out of the draw I was blinded by bright lights. I place my hands over my eyes trying to block out some of the light. The room is filled with white hospital beds and metal tables. The metal tables however caught my eyes.

They all had a red liquid that covered it. I went closer to the table and saw a tray with bloodied knives. My hand flew to my mouth when I realized that someone's blood-covered these tables. My stomach churned and I began to feel sick just watching it.

Were there more contestants? Did they kill them like they tried to kill us? All these questions swarmed inside my brain. I walked over to the metal door and watched through the glass part of it. There were people in lab coats constantly walking through the hallways. It clearly wasn't early in the morning anymore and it looks like the gas has been contained.

I need to figure out a way to get out of here without anyone noticing. The only way I could make this work is pretending to be one of them

I need to draw one of their attention and when they come in, I have to knock them out to get their uniform. On the other half the room it had a huge wooden Kane so I went over to it and picked it up.

I stood against the door looking at everyone on the outside. I saw a short brunette woman with the glass coming down the corridor close to the door, this is my chance. I patiently waited for her to get closer to the door, when she did, I hit my fist against the door, not had enough for everyone else in the corridor to here, just her.

The woman quizzically looked inside the room through the glass. My back was against a wall, ready for when she comes in. I took the Kane in my hand and poked the door. This is sure to raise her attention.

Next thing you know the door creaked open. I quickly stood up and hid behind the door. The woman walked in nervous watching around and as her eyes were about to come contact with mine, I swung the cane and git hit her in her head. I quickly closed the door as she fell to the floor unconscious.

I frantically took off her lab coat and pants. I put my hands under her body and lifted her. I would admit it took all the strength out of me to lit this heavy woman. I placed her into the iron thing I was previously in and covered her mouth with duct tape.

I took off my t-shirt and pants and put on the white lab coat and pants. I took the hair tie that I always had on my wrist and tied my hair in a high bun as neat as I could. We all know that one hair tie wasn't going to do any justice to my frizzy hair.

As I walked up to the door my heart involuntarily began pounding in my chest. It stresses me out how much I get anxiety attacks. I took a deep breath in and out and twisted the knob pulling the door open. At first, no one paid any attention to me because of the rush they were in so I took that as my queue to start moving and stop standing around staring at people.

I lowered my head so no one wouldn't see my face and walked down the hallway along with the other people. Suddenly I felt a tap on my shoulder which caused me to halt. I'm definitely going to get caught now.

"Miss Smith you are being requested to go meet Esmerelda to talk to her about your findings."

"Okay no problem," I said trying to not let my voice break.

"I was told to escort you there so let's get going."

"Umm- Umm I can go for myself, here's no need for you to escort me."

"I was told to escort you miss smith I cannot disobey orders from Esmerelda."

O God I'm so dead. My heart was already racing and now I feel like passing out. I just can't get a break, can I? Everyone rushing at the side of us was just making everything worst. I bent over trying to catch my breath.

"Miss Smith are you alright?"

"I don't feel so good, I need to go to the doctor."

"Alright, miss smith you go to the doctor I'll tell Esmerelda you aren't able to come."

"Thank you."

Although my heart was breathing rapidly a little over-exaggeration always does the trick.
