Chapter 34

Brooklyn

After my encounter with one of the workers in the building I walked faster than I have ever walked before, I can't risk another person coming to speak to me. I have a 99.9% chance of being caught in this building full of people working for that crazy lady, Esmerelda.

When I walked down the hallway and turned the corner, I saw that there was yellow tape covering a door, as I walked closer, I realized that that room was the room my friends and I slept in.

I am so grateful that I ended up on this floor so that I could get out quickly and unnoticed. I walked back out of the corridor and hurried through the hallways trying to remember the path that we took before.

I ran down the stairs in a hurry and was forced to stop running when I saw two huge bodyguards standing in front of the building entrance. How am I supposed to get pass these huge men? The only thing I could do was pretend that I was a person working. Let's just say they know how this doctor smith looked like so I need to keep my head low so they wouldn't see my entire face.

I matched the pace of everyone's other work in the building and began to walk straight towards the exit. When I reached the guards by the door one of them stopped me.

"State your business going outside." The gruff man stated staring me down.

"Esmerelda told me to go outside the building you have no right to ask me where I'm going."

That was the worst lie I have ever told, I could hear the shakiness in my voice as I talked. If this works then that would be a miracle.

"Okay, you may pass."

I was quite surprised, to say the least. I walked off out of the building and when I was a few feet away from the building I felt an arm around my neck putting me in a chokehold.

"Dammit I knew that lie was too good to be true." said to myself.

The other bodyguard that was there raised my chin to see my face properly however when he did is face healed utter surprise.

"How on earth are you alive, the gas killed you."

"I don't know either, my body is maybe immune to it, I don't know."

"I'm taking you back to Esmerelda and don't bother to fight we can do this the hard way or the easy way."

Did he think I was going to let him just take me back in there? They both began to pull me back towards the building. I took my foot and arms and tried to pry out of their grip but that only made them grip my arms tighter making their nails dig into my skin.

I kept on kicking and struggling trying to make them let me go. The man who was holding me released his grip from my both arms and places arm around my neck. This was the moment I was waiting for. This is the Maine reason I was grateful for my brother.

I took my last chance of getting away from here. I pressed his forearm against my collarbone instead of trying to pull it directly off. it was difficult because he is much stronger than me but I used all my strength.

I place one hand above his elbow and one hand below it so my hands are on both sides of the elbow. One strong movement step and I swung the entire body around like the arm is the hinge to my body's screen door.

I quickly took my opportunity and kicked both men in the balls crippling them temporarily and grabbed one of the men's guns from his pants. I ran with all my might away from the building. When I looked back 5 men were running after me, what a surprise. I should have expected it since my drama/action-filled life will never end.

When I sprinted off, I tried my best not to keep running in one line, I swerved between tress as I run so that the men following me would lose track. After a while of running, I saw that there was no one behind me so I stopped to catch my breath. I couldn't run anymore my legs ached and the bottom of my feet was beginning to bleed since I had no shoes on but I couldn't stop now I can't let that crazy old woman capture me again, surely, she'll kill me.

While walking through the forest every little noise made my fingers tense around the gun I had in my hand. If I ever live to have children, I'll tell them this story. I do admit though, this is the most traumatizing thing that has ever happen to me. Who knew visiting your friend's house will lead to this, not me?

I was probably walking for hours now, I needed somewhere to rest. If I walked any longer, I'm afraid I'll collapse. I could hear the water from a stream up ahead, it was like music to my ears. I was eager to drink some of that freshwater from the stream up ahead so I walked, even more, quicker than before.

Then I heard a gunshot out of nowhere. A bullet never whizzed past me or even shoot up in the air. I looked down at my stomach and saw blood growing on my stomach. There was no sharp or shooting pain, nothing like what you think you'll feel when a metal object rips through your body; only the hot burning radiating through my core.

The bullet wound looks nothing like I'd expected from my extensive crime drama viewing. Instead of a neat reddened hole, it was oozing with dark congealing blood and the putrid smell was enough to initiate gag reflex.

My body dropped to the ground and I was unable to move a muscle, it was like I was paralyzed. Every time I breathed in, I felt a sharp pain in my stomach. That only worsened the situation because in a few seconds I was struggling to breathe. I moved my eyes around trying to watch my surroundings but everything looked blurry but when I looked down at where the bullet wound was although it was blurry it was evident that red scarlet-colored blood was seeping into my clothing. It all became so overwhelming and the last thing I heard before I saw darkness was a voice shouting my name.
