It had been at least a week since Jennifer had that memorable visit to Kola's family home.
She had gone over to Mary's place where the both of them were looking over some dress designs on Mary's laptop and trying to arrive at the best one for her engagement party which was in two days time.
Jennifer was seated on Mary's brown sofa, her legs crossed on it and her head resting on the arm. She was looking slightly exhausted after feeding her eyes on so many dresses and yet, Mary had not found her choice still.
"I'm sure you know Pure Bliss wine right?" Jennifer asked Mary.
"What kind of question is that? Of course I know it. Who doesn't know it? It's everywhere," Mary replied, not removing her eyes from her laptop.
"Do you know the owner of the company?" Jennifer asked on.
Mary chuckled. "What's my business with the owner? I love the wine just like other people and I buy it. One thing I'm sure of though is that the owner would probably be a millionaire if not a billionaire, considering how popular the wine is. What's with the questions though. You want to start up a wine business?"
Jennifer couldn't help but laugh at Mary's last question. "Just so you know, Kola's parents are the owner," she blurted out and Mary just had to remove her eyes from her laptop for once and look at her.
"Oh my God! Are you really serious?"
"I am. I just discovered that recently too. I was also shocked, just as you are right now."
"He told you himself?" Mary asked, her mouth still opened in shock.
"Actually, I came to know about it when we had an interview together. The interviewer brought it up. You should see how surprised I was. I later asked him to confirm and he confirmed it," Jennifer narrated.
"Wow! That means his family would be very loaded. That explains the black Lexus that I saw parked outside his flat. I don't know much about cars but I knew that the car was super expensive the moment I laid my eyes on it," Mary thoughtfully said.
"The nice part of it all is that he doesn't even brag about it. As a matter of fact he wanted to keep it a secret but I guess the lady that anchored the interview did her background work very well before coming for that interview." Jennifer chuckled. "You know, I visited his family house about two weeks ago."
"The both of you are already planning your marriage and you didn't even let me know?" Mary playfully said and Jennifer rolled her eyes at her.
"I actually went because of his dad who has not been too healthy recently."
"That's sad. I hope his dad gets better soon," Mary pitifully said.
"Kola said he is doing fine now."
"That's good to know," Mary said and went back to focus on her laptop screen.
"You know there are some people who are doing their business and making cool cash without having too much attention in this Lagos. What I would give to be in that kind of position though." Jennifer sighed.
"That is almost impossible in the entertainment industry. You know that more than I do," Mary stated.
"That's true. The moment you get noticed in the entertainment industry then just get ready for one issue with the media or the other. This bloggers want to know who you're dating or married to, your children, your net worth, the car you drive. The list is just endless." Jennifer sighed again.
"Everybody with their own cup of tea. Just try not to fall into their traps," Mary advised.
"Doing what one loves it's just the best because at the end of the day, no matter how much people try to bring down your name, you're still having the best time enjoying your job."
"That's so right," Mary said with a nod.
"Jennifer I think I've finally found the one I love. Come and see it," Mary squealed and Jennifer immediately sprang up from the sofa that she was sitting on.
"Which one?" she asked, now standing next to Mary, a grid of dresses displayed on the computer screen before her.
Mary moved the mouse and tapped on a white dress. "This one."
"Let me see... The material looks good. The length is okay for an engagement dress and I love the flowery design on the hand," Jennifer gave her take on the dress.
"This is definitely what I'm looking for. I would let the designer know," Mary said and closed her laptop.
"Are you still using the first event center that you told me about or the second one?" Jennifer asked Mary. They were now seated together on the sofa and facing each other.
"I'm hiring the first one. I've concluded with the people in charge already," Mary said and yawned.
"Okay."
"Jennifer tell me you're coming with Kola and not alone," Mary said and Jennifer wasn't too surprised. Mary had always been a huge fan of her friendship with Kola.
"I never thought about that. I was actually planning on bringing my single self alone," Jennifer replied.
"You should come with Kola. I'm totally okay with it." Mary grinned.
"I would ask him when I get back home," Jennifer finally gave in.
"So tell me. What was his parents like?" Mary asked with so much excitement in her round, black eyes.
"Honestly they were really nice to me. They made me feel so welcomed. Both his mom and dad are super nice, his sister too."
"Kola has a sister?" Mary asked.
"Yes he does, a younger sister. Her name is Cynthia." Jennifer laughed before saying, "She almost told her parents about the letter I sent to Kola back in school."
Mary was now laughing uncontrollably. "Are you serious?"
"Yes I am. If not for Kola that intervened she would have just spilt my most embarrassing moment to her parents," Jennifer added.
"Awn, Kola is now your defender and intervener. Isn't that sweet," Mary jammed her hands together.
"Kola is just," Jennifer drew in a deep breath. "He is just so nice and understanding. I Never knew that he has such a beautiful heart underneath his arrogant attitude."
"I can see that Jennifer. From the few times I've talked with him, I can see that he is a really nice guy."
"You're right Mary."
"But how did Cynthia know about the letter?" Mary asked.
"Apparently, she and Kola are very close to each other so he told her about it. Do you know that I thought Cynthia was Kola's girlfriend the first day I saw them together. They were just so clingy to each other."
"That's how some siblings are you know. I already like Cynthia," Mary laughed.
"Why wouldn't you when you love embarrassing people just like her?" Jennifer sighed.
"I don't know what you're talking about Jennifer."
"Why would you know?"
"I mean it Jennifer. I've always been calm and loving and you know that."
Jennifer shook her head sideways. "It can't be me."
"Whatever, let me go and make an urgent call. I would be right back, " Mary said and left Jennifer in the living room.
