"Kola stop it with the staring. It's becoming really creepy," Jennifer had to whisper into Kola's ear or else he wouldn't hear her due to the loud music playing at the background. She had asked Kola to attend Mary's engagement party with her and he had not hesitated a bit in accepting the offer, he was more than excited.

"You're looking like a whole meal and you're asking me not to stare. Things don't work like that Jenny," Kola whispered back and she couldn't help but blush. She had decided to wear a simple, straight, red dress and she couldn't really see why Kola was making a huge deal about the dress but then, she was loving the attention.

"They are coming over here Kola," she said as she saw Mary in her white dress, walking next to Kayode who was on a tuxedo. They were both heading over to where Jennifer and Kola were standing.

Jennifer went over to hug Mary and Kayode. "Congratulations you two."

"Thank you so much Jennifer. You're the best friend anyone could ever ask for," Mary replied first and Kayode also thanked Jennifer, along with a smile that showed his attractive dimples. Kayode had an average height and he was lighter in complexion compared to Mary.

"Kayode meet my onscreen partner, Kola," Jennifer introduced Kola.

"Not onscreen partner. I'm her onscreen husband," Kola said before stretching out his hands towards Kayode who happily took it.

"Kola you're funny. Just have it your own way," Jennifer said, after giving Kola a nudge.

"I'm really glad that the two of you could make out time to celebrate with us." Kayode's arm was on Mary's waist all this time while Mary's face was radiating a lovely smile.

"Don't mention. You know how I am with Mary. We've been there for each other ever since we were just teenagers so it's really nothing," Jennifer said and her face immediately fell as her eyes settled on the couple standing far behind Mary and Kayode.

Kola placed his hand on Jennifer's shoulder as he noticed her mood suddenly change.
"Are you okay Jennifer?"

"What is he doing here?" Jennifer asked, her eyes not moving away from the spot it was settled in. Kola followed her gaze and finally saw why Jennifer was looking shocked. Before him was Felix and another lady.

Mary and Kayode had to turn around to see who Jennifer and Kola were staring at.

"What is Felix doing here?" Mary asked in confusion but no one could give her an answer.

"Who is that lady Mary?" Jennifer asked, her eyes not leaving the couple.

"She is my colleague. We were together in my last project. I hate to say this Jennifer but she is the same lady whose birthday I met with Felix," Mary said and went ahead to whisper something to Kayode's ear and he started to walk towards where Felix and the lady were standing.

"Jennifer is she the same lady you saw him with when you went over to his place? The one he cheated on you with?" Mary asked.

"No, it was another lady," Jennifer said and swallowed.

Kayode walked back towards them.
"She said Felix is her boyfriend," he revealed and Jennifer's heart suddenly felt heavy at hearing that.

"I'm really sorry Jennifer. All our guests were permitted to come with a date and I really didn't know that the two of them were together now, but then it explains why he was present at her birthday party. They must have been seeing each other long before you caught him cheating," Mary said and went ahead to hold Jennifer's hand.

"It's okay Mary, it's not your fault in anyway and it's not an issue," Jennifer replied.

"He knows that you would definitely be present here and he still went ahead to come which means he is trying to get at you but don't pay him any attention okay."

Jennifer forced a smile. "Yeah Mary. Stop worrying about me. Go and greet your guests. I'm okay."

"Alright then, would check up on you two later," Mary said and with that she left with Kayode to meet with the other guests.

"Felix is the worst person to ever come into my life," Jennifer said with so much bitterness.

Seeing how sad she looked, Kola picked up her hands. "You remember what we both agreed on right. We promised to forget about our past and move on."

"Yes, I remember." Jennifer nodded.

"Good, now cheer up okay." Kola gave an encouraging smile.

"This would help." Jennifer took a glass of champagne from a server nearby and Kola followed suit.

Jennifer was in her second round of champagne when she finally locked eyes with Felix who was dancing with his new girlfriend. He placed a kiss on the lady's lips the moment he locked eyes with Jennifer, making her to immediately get disgusted by the sight.

She took a gulp of the remaining content of her champagne and stretched her hands to take another glass again when Kola quickly gripped her hands.

"Stop it Jennifer. That's enough!" Kola said with a serious look.

"It's nothing Kola. I can handle it," Jennifer replied.

"The drink is already affecting you Jennifer. It would get worse if you take another glass," Kola spoke with concern.

"I want to dance Kola. Let's dance." Jennifer smiled. Her smile looked weird to Kola and he knew that the drink she had taken was beginning to affect her.

"Come on Kola, almost everyone is dancing." Jennifer took his hands and dragged him up.

A slow music was playing at the background so Kola was prompted to wrap his arms around her waist and bring her body closer to his while she began to move her hips to the rhythm of the song.

"Never knew that you can dance this much," Kola said, following Jennifer's lead.

"Now you know," Jennifer said and laughed hysterically. Kola was shocked when she moved his hands lower, towards her hips and then buried his face on the base of her neck.

"Jennifer?"

"Kola?"

"Are you doing this to make Felix jealous? You know I have feelings too right?" Kola asked and Jennifer stopped moving her hips as Kola looked deep into her eyes.

"I'm not trying to make Felix jealous Kola. I just..."

"You just what Jennifer?"

"I just want us to have a good time. It's my best friend's engagement party and I want to have fun," Jennifer replied, her speech was getting slurry.

"Alright then. Let's have fun," Kola said and brought her even more closer to himself, running his hands on her back as they danced.

"I love your scent," he whispered sweetly into her ear, causing her to shiver at the impact of his breathe on the skin of her ear.

"Thank you." She smiled into his shoulder.

"I know I'm saying this for the umpteenth time this evening but you're looking really gorgeous in this dress," Kola said and showered a trail of kisses on her neck, making her to hold tighter unto him.

"Be careful Jennifer." Kola steadied Jennifer who had stumbled.

"I'm fine, I'm fine," Jennifer replied and continued to move her hips against Kola.

"Jennifer let's go and sit down. Mary and Kola are about to give their speech," Kola said as he saw Mary and Kola mounting the stage.

Kola helped an already staggering Jennifer towards their table as they waited for Mary and Kayode to give their speech.
