It had been three days already since Jennifer attended the farewell party with Kola, but still, she couldn't get the words of Caleb out of her mind. No matter what she did to distract herself from his words, she found herself recalling them over and over again.

She sat in her bedroom, sketching some dress designs on her sketchpad; a sorry attempt to free her mind and thoughts from what Caleb told her that day.

"Hey pretty," Kola whispered from her back, startling her immediately.

"Why are you looking so surprised? I'm shocked you didn't even notice me walk into the room. That's unlike you," Kola said to Jennifer who had turned her seat around to face him.

"I was just carried away by my thoughts." Jennifer sighed.

"You're making new sketches I see." Kola looked over the sketchpad that was on the white table before Jennifer.

"Yeah, just keeping myself busy," Jennifer replied from her seat.

"You work too much Jennifer," Kola murmured and walked closer to her. He stretched his hand towards her and she took it and stood up to face him on her feet.

"Why don't we do something to take your mind off things." Kola removed his tank top, revealing his well defined abs, making Jennifer to drool at the sight before her.

"Something like?" she asked in a low voice.

Kola wrapped his arms around her and brought her body to himself, giving her an opportunity to breathe in the manly scent of his perfume as she held onto his back firmly.

"Something like this." Kola kissed her bare shoulder and slowly moved his lips towards a very sensitive spot on her neck and nibbled on it, causing her to shut her eyes and let out a soft moan as a bolt of electricity ran through her skin. Kola slowly ran his two hands along the length of the exposed skin of her arms, leaving a chilly sensation at every spot that his hands touched.

"You're my addiction Jennifer," Kola whispered and immediately captured her lips with his while she wrapped her long and slender legs around his waist as he carried her to the bed.

Dropping her slowly on the bed, Kola caged her with his two legs kneeling next to the sides of her hips and then he bent down to kiss and bite lightly on her ear, causing another chill to run down her whole body.

Her eyes closed, Jennifer held on tightly to Kola's back as he started to kiss her lips again, more hungrily this time around, taking his time to savor the sweet taste of her lips in his mouth. Jennifer kissed him back as his hands roamed all over her body. There was a hitch in her breathing as she felt his hand on the skin of her stomach underneath her top, slowly moving upward.

Caleb's words suddenly played back in her head and she immediately opened her eyes with a jerk, trying to catch her breath.

"Jennifer what's wrong?" Kola asked in concern but Jennifer didn't say anything in reply. "It's okay if you don't want this now. I would be okay with it. You just have to tell me."

"Kola we need to talk," Jennifer finally spoke and Kola removed his legs that were by her sides and sat on the bed which was covered in white sheets. Jennifer went ahead to take her seat just next to him.

Kola ran a hand through his hair. "What do you want to talk about Jennifer?"

"It's about us Kola. The future of our relationship. I'm worried about it," Jennifer finally spilt the issue that had been on her mind.

Kola faced Jennifer. "You think that I don't love you enough?"

"No, not that Kola. I know that you love and care about me."

"Then what are you worried about Jennifer?"

Jennifer played with her fingers. "Kola I know
that you don't have plans to stay permanently in the country since you don't even go along with your dad so much and you don't have plans to take over his business because doing that would automatically make you to stay behind."

Kola took her hands. "I don't get it Jennifer. I know that I've not made up my mind about staying or not but I know that I love you very much. We can worry about me staying or not later. Is that not okay with you?"

"It's just... I went through a lot when I broke up with Felix and I don't want to go through that again. I don't want you to make the decision of leaving the country when things have gotten more intense between us because it would break me down. I've cut out a niche for myself here and this is where I want to be but you..." Jennifer trailed off.

Kola cupped her face. "Look at me Jennifer. I love you very much and I would never do anything to hurt you. Is that not enough?"

"That is not enough Kola. I want to look beyond the present and see into our future. What reason do you have to stay behind in Nigeria? Is not like you even want to forgive your dad for what he did years ago and fulfill his wish of taking over the family business." Jennifer felt herself already breaking down, she was at the verge of crying.

Kola sprang up from the bed. "What's with the family business Jennifer? What's in for you?"

Jennifer's brows furrowed in utter surprise at Kola's question. "Are you serious right now Kola. Are you trying to say that I'm with you because of your family business? You're unbelievable!"

Kola bent down and cupped Jennifer's face again. "I'm sorry Jennifer. I don't know what came over me. I didn't mean that."

Jennifer quickly removed his hands from her face. "But you indirectly said that just now!"

Kola paced around the room. "What is going on with you and Caleb? What did he tell you at the farewell party Jennifer?"

"Is that your problem at the moment? You just insulted me right now and you have the guts to ask me what Caleb told me!" Jennifer's voice came out loudly.

"I said I'm sorry already Jennifer. And about Caleb, I know he told you something that you're hiding from me. I knew that you were lying when you bit down on your lower lip Jennifer. That is something you do when you're about telling a white lie or you're nervous and that is why I'm demanding for the truthful answer right now." Kola did his best to bring his voice down.

"I can't believe this." Jennifer stood up. "Kola we both need a break. We both need it right now. You need to think about what you really want because I really can't subject myself to the same pain that I went through just few weeks ago."

"Are you serious right now?" Kola could not bring himself to believe what Jennifer had said.

"I am Kola. Just give me some space please." Jennifer plopped onto the bed, her hands supporting her head. She knew it was a difficult decision she was taking but then she wanted Kola to make a definite decision before things get even more intense between the both of them.

"I can't believe this!" Kola picked up his shirt from the floor, wore it and left the room.

The next sound Jennifer heard was the sound of Kola's car as he drove out of the compound.
She tugged herself into her bed cover and pulled a pillow to her body, holding tightly onto it and trying her best not to cry.
