"This can't be happening!" was the first thing Jennifer said to Mary the moment she stepped into Mary's house. She was looking all annoyed and furious.

"This your anger can burn my house down, please calm down," Mary who was holding an already bitten apple said.

"Was with all the drama?" she asked.

"Drama? Seriously?" Jennifer landed forcefully on the sofa, just next to Mary.

"You know that I can tell when you're seriously angry and when you're not," Mary said and bit into her apple, unperturbed about her friend's supposed anger.

"I can't believe you. I came straight to your house after signing my contract. I mean, I didn't even get home first. I am angry and I'm serious," Jennifer raised her voice.

"Okay, I'm sorry. What's making you angry?" Mary finally inquired.

"Do you think we summoned him by talking about him when you came to visit me?" Jennifer asked and Mary's brows got raised in confusion.

"Who exactly are you talking about?" Mary asked.

"Kola."

"Oh my God! You don't mean it," Mary said with wide opened eyes.

"I was surprised, just as you are right now when I saw him in the conference room," Jennifer said, now calmer than she was before.

"Does he like work there as a staff?" Mary asked.

"That would have been much better," Jennifer replied and drew in a deep breath. "He is the model I'm supposed to work with," she dropped the bombshell.

"Really?" Mary asked in shock. "How come he is just appearing from nowhere. I mean I've not even for once stumbled upon his profile on any social media platform before."

"That's because he has been out of the country for some years. He just came back from London where he had attended a modelling school according to the managing director, Damilore," Jennifer explained.

"That explains it because I know I've not heard anything about him ever since he left school a week after your proposal." Mary ended with a wink.

Jennifer arched her brow at Mary. "Do you have to taunt me now with that silly mistake that I made years ago?"

"I will continue to say that the both of you look perfect together," Mary said, a knowing smile on her face.

"Thank God you said 'look' because that is all it can ever be. I mean, he didn't even recognize me when we met." Jennifer sighed.

"Are you serious right now?"

"Yes, I am. He didn't recognize me at all." Jennifer sadly said.

Mary was silent for some couple of seconds before speaking. "But you can't really blame him though."

"Are you seriously taking his side right now?" Jennifer said, on her feet already.

Mary pulled her hands, making her to seat again. "Listen to me, it's been twelve good years if I'm no miscalculating—"

"It was the same amount of years for me too but I still remembered him the moment he stepped into the room," Jennifer interrupted Mary.

"I know, I know, but try to reason with me. He couldn't recognize you because number one; it was the first time he is seeing you after that day he came into our class to look for you. Number two is because he left the school soon after that," Mary said and with a smile she finally added, "You're no longer the thirteen-year-old he saw that day. I mean look at you," her eyes trailed over Jennifer. "No more braces, no more glasses and no more babyish look. You're a full grown lady now and a really pretty one at that. I wouldn't even recognize you too if I were to be in his place."

Jennifer smiled at Mary's words which were soothing to her. "You always have a way of making me feel so pretty although you exaggerate it most times but thanks anyways."

"You're welcome."

"Now, let me check Instagram if I can search up his name at least," Mary said and opened her phone while Jennifer rested her back on the sofa.

"This is serious," Mary said and laughed.

"What is that?" Jennifer asked curiously, now seated uprightly.

"Gossipmillnaija blog is carrying the news of your contract signing already," Mary said, looking amusingly into her phone.

"I was expecting that since the media was present there, but I wasn't expecting the news to be out so soon," Jennifer said, not too bordered. It wasn't the first time she was appearing in a blog's news.

"I'm sure Kola is the one beside you right?" Mary asked.

"Yeah, he is," Jennifer replied and finally looked into Mary's phone.

"Everyone is busy with commenting about his good looks," Mary said after she opened the comment section.

Jennifer sighed. "Can you imagine that? Kola just came back to Nigeria and he is already taking the spotlight."

"Nigerian girls can be funny sometimes, they've already started shooting their shots at him. They tagged him the most eligible bachelor in Lagos." Mary laughed, even as she got more intrigued with the article before her.

"They can go for him for all I care," Jennifer said, unbothered.

"Looking at this picture here, I really think that the both of you would make lovely babies. You are fair in complexion while he is dark. I've always loved that combination," Mary said, making Jennifer to open her mouth in shock.

"You can't be serious right now. Kola is my enemy at the moment and you still have the guts to talk about us having babies together. That rude Kola, the same one who gave me the biggest disgrace of my life," Jennifer bursted.

"I'm sure he wasn't rude to you when you met him today. Was he?"

"No he wasn't but that doesn't change anything," Jennifer replied.

"Well, you would have to put the past behind and learn how to love your husband," Mary said and stopped to look at Jennifer whose face was now in a grimace. "I mean onscreen husband," Mary rephrased, her facial expression looking all innocent.

Jennifer sighed. "Better."

"Have you been able to talk to Johnson?" Mary asked, changing the topic.

"Yeah, I have. He had promised to stop keeping late nights but you know how he is. Today he is promising not to do it again and the next day he is at it," Jennifer said, talking about her younger brother who was twenty-two.

Mary laughed. "Your mom was really angry the day she called you."

"Johnson can be really stubborn sometimes. He is still bent on being the next Hip Hop music icon in the country, hence the late nights at different events."

"Let him explore his talent, you can never tell what would come out from it," Mary said.

"Everybody have their own problems. I'm here with my own too. Let Johnson take care of himself. I'm even tired of talking to him," Jennifer said, after a small yawn.

"So what is your own problem?" Mary asked.

"Kola of course."

"You're something else Jennifer," Mary said and went back to scrolling on her phone.
