Anastasia walked through the thick glass doors to the executive-level suites.The entire office reeked of money,old money- mahogany reception desk,crystal chandelier,Persian area rugs and original artwork with perfectly positioned lighting.The King's surely know to work in style.

A beautiful young woman met Anastasia in the hallway.
"And you are?"She pointed her perfectly manicured hand towards Anastasia.
"Hello,I'm Anastasia personal assistant of Xavier King."
"Oh..so you are the latest recruit of Xavier King?"
"Excuse me,are you insinuating something?"Anastasia narrowed her eyes at the women.
"Meh..ofcourse not."She replied tilting her chin up.
"Can you atleast give me the direction to his office?
Never mind I'll help myself."
Anastasia retorted.She is done with her fair share of drama for the day.

The other woman caught hold of Anastasia's arm rather harshly making her flinch.
"Now,you listen,flavour of the month.Xavier changes his personal assistant as he changes his suit.If you think you are here to impress him,you couldn't be more wrong.You..."

"Damn it Paula.Stop right there.."Xavier stormed towards them.
"One more word and you will lose your precious job.Not to remind you that bullies like you won't be provided with a letter of recommendation as well."
"But Xavier..she is the one to blame." Anastasia's eyes widened.This Paula women was something else entirely.Lying her ass off.Anastasia wondered.
"Don't Xavier me,its Mr.King to you."
"Ana..I'm so sorry."
"Xav it's absolutely fine."
"No fucking way,no one should speak like this with you."
"You two seem pretty close huh?"Paula replied nastily.
"Not talking to you evil barbie.FYI she is my sister-in-law aka wife of Xander King.Surely you must have known her?"
Paula gulped noisily.
"Xand..Mr.King's wife?"
"But ofcourse."Xavier smirked.
"Ana come with me.
Paula bring two hot coffee in my office."
"Did you ask me to bring coffee?I'm the head of the accounts department."Her face was red with anger and embarassment.
"And your point is?"Xavier raised his eyebrow.
Never has she seen Xavier so serious and angry.Unlike every other Kings' men Anastasia thought Xavier was the epitome of calmness.
Without speaking a word Xavier guided Anastasia inside his office.
His office oozed warmthness unlike the dark ,cold den of Xander.The walls were painted in soft and warm colours.His office was spacious and the furniture was high-end.
"Nice..."
"You're most welcome."
"Huh?oh right.But I could have handled her myself."
"And I don't doubt that.But Paula can be handful.Scratch that she is the numero uno bitch of this office.Yet since her work speaks volume hence she is the head of her department." Xavier replied in a bored tone.

"Which reminds me I need to learn the ropes before you hand me with serious responsibilties."
Xavier waved his hand dismissively.
"You'll nail it."
"How can you be so sure?"
"Because I'm damn smart and a perfect judge of character.Thank you very much."
"Added with arrogance and cockiness."Xavier displayed his infamous smirk.

"Did you speak to Xander?Everything cool I guess?"
"Yes,everything went smoothly."She hid the part where Xander pretty much insulted her.
"Hmm..good."Xavier said sarcastically.
Anastasia shot him a look challenging him.
"For a smart woman you are an awful liar."
"Firstly you called me naive,then liar.Am I here for your jibes?"
Xavier laughed humorously.
"I'm sorry..Did I insult you?"
"Xavv..."
"Fine,fine let's get to work."
The next couple of hour went in a blur.Xavier gave her a tour of the entire building.
"And finally this is your workspace."
"Wow..but is it necessary?I mean a desk and a small cubicle would suffice.Not that I'm complaining."She rambled on with a small laugh.
"You should definitely have your own personal space to work."
"Thank you Xavier.."
Before he could reply the door to Anastasia's room opened.
"Kings' meeting in the conference room."An elderly woman Mrs.Sutton whom Anastasia met a while ago informed them.
"Kings' meeting?Now what on earth is that?"
"This is a family meeting summoned by Dad."
"C'mon I'll explain you everything later.
Dad and late comers do not thrive well."

"Umm..you sure I should be there?Maybe he has just called you people?"
"Ana... let's go."Xavier said sternly leaving no room for her to argue.
"Yes boss."Anastasia grumbled making Xavier chuckled loudly.

Anastasia and Xavier entered together.The whole family was present including Roxanna,who was looking very pale and Regina whose expression held that of surprise then something else.
"My,my this is a surprise.What are you doing here my child?"
"Good evening Dad..I um working with Xavier."
"That's good good.Come and sit."
Lastly,Xander entered the conference room.
"Hey Dad,Regina."Xander nodded towards both of them.
"Rosa how are you now?From the looks of it.You require more rest."
"Yes,I do."She groaned loudly.

Bruce King cleared his throat.
"I have an announcement to make."
Now everyone was listening attentively.
"I'm soon going to retire."
"But Dad.."Xavier intervened only to be stopped by Bruce.
"I'm not finished yet.I have had the most wonderful experience running this company.My grandfather started from scratch.And now we are running a multi- billion dollar company.It didn't come easily..Nothing comes easily.Each of us have to pay a price for it."Now his voice became wistful.
"I paid a price for it."He cleared his throat again.
"But that is everything in the past.Now I have a beautiful family,a successful company and a beloved wife,who has been with me through my ups and down.I'm a happy man thanks to you Regina."
He covered his hand on hers.Regina smiled at Bruce.
"Also I made a promise to my wife,that when my sons will be grown enough to replace me.I'll handover everything to them and all my time will be family time.
So,hereby.."He flit opened the pages of the file in front of him.
"I transfer 50% of the company to my elder son Xander King.
35% to Xavier King.And the remaining 15% to my daughter Roxanna King."
There was dead silence.The first one to break the silence was Xander and Regina.
"Dad but.."
"Bruce..50% to Xander?"
Bruce King raised his hand and stopped both of them.
"You all know I love all my children equally.This is nothing personal.Roxanna wanted nothing to do with the company yet being my child I'm entitled to give her part of my inheritance."
"Also,Xavier is still learning to swim amongst the shark,hence 35%.He will also inherit my mansion at Sicily."
"What?No way.."
"You don't want Xavier?"
"I mean yes Dad.Thank you so much.I loved our mansion at Sicily.And honestly,Dad I don't have any problem if Xander is to inherit half our company.He is more experienced and more responsible.I totally support your decision."
"I have a suggestion Dad."Xander said rather abruptly.
"Go ahead son."
"Why don't you divide 40-40% amongst me and Xav.And the remaining can go to Rosa?"
"Are you questioning my decision son?"
"No Dad.."
"Let me be absolute clear with you.
After me you will be the head of our family.No offence to my wife.You all will definitely abide by her rules.But all the financial decision would be taken with your consent.You are my eldest son.You are the most responsible amongst my other children."
Both Rosa and Xav said 'Thanks Dad' in unison making the environment light.Bruce smiled and continued..
"So I hope I'm clear to everyone?"
"Dad we should celebrate this over drink."
"No way,a party is in the order."Roxanna replied cheerfully.
"We will definitely have my retirement party."
Bruce got up while the others followed.He hugged both his sons together.
"You two are my pillars.Never think your Dad was unjust.Never.If you have any problem with my arrangement you speak now Xavier"
"Never Dad."
Both of them hugged their father.
"And here I thought Dad loves me more."Roxanna pouted.
"You are my babygirl,come here."He hugged his daughter and kissed her forehead.All the while Regina was inexplicably quiet.
Anastasia's eyes brimmed with tears.She sighed visibly...Life is good.
