Chapter - 10

Memories are the only thing withholding me.They can take away the person but not the memories....

Anastasia was remembering things.It has been two days since she returned from the hospital.She was always surrounded by either Roxanna or Xavier.Xander was a no show.They cared for her deeply.Only yesterday she was watching some vampire series when she was interrupted by Xavier.

"Seriously you too?Doesn't this chick die in the previous season?"
"Hello to you too Xavier.And I'm surprised you even watched it."
"When you have a sister like Roxanna you're bound to watch all the chicklit."Xavier replied irritatingly.
"This series is not focussed to a particular gender.Many guys dig in it too."
"Then they are not real men.What's that egoistic man name?... Damn ,Devil whatever.He keeps on blabbering about the same chick throughout."He dramatically flicks his hand.
"That is called love you duffo.And his name is Damon Salvatore."
"Whatever."Xavier muttered
"You know what,you're simply jealous."
"Jealous and me huh"..Xavier scoffs.
"Ian Somerhalder is oh so good."Anastasia replied dreamily.
"Ookay stop with your fangirling.And give me the damn remote."
He flicked on to the business channel.

"So you see..this is what real men should be focussed about.Business
Though I also love sports."
"Ugghh not fair..I was watching.
Elena will kiss Damon."
"Go kiss your husband."Anastasia's eyes bulged out.
"You're incorrigible." She tried to snatch the remote back.
"Ww..wait..The sensex has gone up..let me watch and concentrate.If you can understand."Xavier teased.
"Excuse me..I know what they are talking about.FYI Economics was my major in university."
"Really?"
"What?What did I say?"Anastasia but her lip, confusion marring her face.
"Does this means you are recapitulating things?In this case your memory?"
"Uhhm..I think so.Wow how did that come out of my mouth?"
"Can you remember anything more.Try and concentrate."
"Okay."She closed her eyes and focussed.Xavier closed one of his eye and squinted the other playfully.
"Not helping." Anastasia mumbled.
Xavier cleared his throat.."Sorry."

Anastasia closed her eyes once again.This time the image that went through her mind was one that made her skin crawl.
A man was hovering over a girl.She could not make out his face but he was a stout man,his protruding belly touching her lower abdomen.
"You're my wife and darn it I'll have you."
"No please stop.Don't do this."

"Ana..Anaaa.." Xavier shouted bringing her back from the morbid memory attack.
"Hey you alright?What did you see?You were hyperventilating again."
"That m.man.".Her words were incoherent.
"What man Ana?You know what stop right there.You look pale.Just calm down."
"Here drink water."
"Thank you."
She looked at him with her innocent face.
Xavier drew in his breath.She looked so beautiful.Her beautiful eyes filled her whole childlike face.Xavier looked elsewhere.He flicked onto the channel she was watching.After sometime he said:
"You're not to talk about this man to Xander."
"But why?"
"He may get jealous.Xander is a very powerful man and his wife dreaming about another man can definitely make him jealous."
Despite herself Anastasia laughed as he hoped she would.
"Xavier...Only you can do this.You're seriously a devil incarnate."She gushed ruefully.Xavier was like her younger brother.He always made her smile.
"But ofcourse,angels are overrated,Devil is in."
He gave her his signature wicked smirk.
Anastasia shook her head in disapproval.

Xavier was glad that atleast for the time being Anastasia forgot her disturbing dreams or memories whatever one may call it.

"Hello to my two favourite people."
"Hello Rosa."
"Ughh..Correction one favourite people."
"Does that mean you do not like Ana?So mean of you Rosa."Xavier joked.
"I was talking about you.I thought you were Xander."

"You forgot missy..Xander is out of the city.But don't worry I get that a lot.We look alike although I'm the handsome one."
Before Roxanna could intervene.As if she could not help herself Anastasia replied quickly.
"I beg to differ Xavier.Xander is very handsome."
Both the siblings looked at her raising their eyebrow.
Anastasia's eye fell before them.Suddenly she felt shy at their scrutiny.She realised when it comes to her character she is not the submissive, quiet girl.She has an outspoken mouth and a very imaginative mind.
"Looks like someone his harbouring crush."
"Why the hell not?Xander is her husband."Roxanna replied her hands on her hips.
"Yeah,yeah."
"But my dear Ana,I'm very sorry to inform you that when it comes to looks.I've got the perfect classical features amongst the King's men."
Xavier boasted making both the girls sigh visibly.
"Ana avoid this man and look what I've got for you."She presented a beautiful gown in front of her.
"I added the extra tulle and extracted the goddy lace which you pointed out."
"This looks amazing.Thank you so much Rosa."Anastasia enthused.

They discussed the necessary accessory that would go with it.Roxanna informed that both Christi and Leo would help her out.They were very concerned about her health as well.Xavier noticed Anastasia yawning.
"Rosa don't you think Ana needs rest?With Xander being gone out of city we should look out for her."
"Yeah sure,I'm sorry Ana.I didn't tire you,did I?"
"Nonsense, you can never do that,I should be the one thanking you guys."
"Anytime."Both the siblings replied in unison.
"See you tomorrow.Good bye.Take your beauty sleep."

Anastasia nodded then hugged Roxanna and Xavier.
"If you need anything,I'm just a call away remember that."
"Thank you for looking out for me."
"No need to thank me,its part of the job description."Anastasia smiled at Xavier.
When both the sibling left,Anastasia felt lonely.She kept thinking of the upcoming event.
"Tomorrow is going to be a long day." She murmured.
