Chapter - 35

"Now do you people understand.Its true that I proposed Azalea yesterday but we didn't plan to marry any time soon.And certainly not without you and my family."
Xander's calm voice somehow convinced Camilla and Daniel.
"So you two are not married?"
"Hell no."
Azalea's parents breathed a sigh of relief.
Camilla's eyes filled with tears.
"I'm sorry Lea and Xander.I yelled at you both.Lea is our only child and I always had hopes and plans for her marriage."
"Understandable."
Azalea got up and hugged her parents in a giant hug.
"I am sorry Mom."Her voice cracked.

In any other situation Xander would consider this family reunion as some sort of emotional drama.But not this.Somehow,he himself has been invested in this family.

Xander cleared his throat.
"There's one more thing.I'm taking Azalea with me to New York.
Suffice to say family play an integral part in one's life.Hence,my family desperately wishes to meet her."

Camilla and Daniel looked at each other and nodded solemnly.
"If that's what Azalea want."
Azalea chewed her lower lip.
"Xander can I speak to you for a moment?"
"Lead the way."
He ushered her inside her room.
With a click she locked her room.
"What the heck Xander?How did you got us in this situation?"

Azalea was down right pissed.From getting engaged to being married in National television.This was not how she envisaged her future.Yet,she forgot that it was fate who has been playing with her.

No one has ever spoken to him in a harsh tone.
"Watch your tone."
"Or what?"She gave him a challenging glare
Xander smirked.
She stomped her foot like a five year old earning a wolfish grin from Xander.
Her mind raced with ideas.She needs plan.Full proof plan.
She quickly rummaged through her drawer and took out a fresh diary.
She started writing the pros and con.
Xander's lips twitched in amusement.
This was yet another side of Azalea which unfurled right before him.
Though he liked the way she is a controlling freak just like him.No wonder he likes her so much.

Moving aside her personal diary.He looked into her eyes
"What is your dilemma?"
Taking a deep breath she stared into his eyes.
"You've already proclaimed that I am your wife."She spoke as a matter-of-fact.
"And your point being?"
"My point is now I have to act according to your wife in front of your family.
Listen Xander I'm not an actress."
After a beat she continued:
"Remember the day when you commended on my acting skill for impersonating your fiancee?"
She chewed her bottom lip.
Xander nodded.
"Frankly speaking I had a crush on you.I knew who you were.And watching you up close I lost it and hugged you."
Xander hummed a response.His eyes has softened,they do not possess the same calculating and hard look.
"I was exhilarated initially.But the reality of the situation made me realise this is my life.And I can't toy with it.I like you Xander.But that doesn't mean I'll let anyone play with my feelings."She pushed her chin defiantly.
"You are a confirmed bachelor,a billionaire,the most handsome man I have ever seen.But I also know you are kind and understanding.Your behaviour with my family was impeccable.But..you're also..."
"Also?"
"A manwhore."She whispered under her breath.
"Childish as it sounds,I want my man to look at me,not other woman.I want him to adore me just as I am..."
Her confession made his mouth dry.
This mesmerizing,bewitching and confident women who could have any man running to her willingly ,is choosing him?

As he watched,Azalea's face lifted towards the door and her eyes lanced his.His stomach clenched with desire,hot and undeniable.But her vulnerability tug his heart.
He was used to the effect he had on women,but it was unusual for a women to stir those same feelings of powerless attraction in him.In fact he prided himself on his ability to remained detached from almost any situation.

Whooshing out his breath,he constructed a plan in his head.
"Here's what is my plan.Firstly you are accompanying me to New York.You will be playing the role of my wife staying at my mansion and working for me in my company."His plan was more like a command.
"You know that's the thing you're not understanding.I don't want to lie anymore Xander.
To my people,to yours.I'm sick of lying."
She blinked her tears rapidly but those traitors streamed down her face.
Wiping her tears,Xander conclude:
"You didn't hear my full plan."
"Oh?"
"I'm not asking you to lie anymore.Infact I loathe liars.My mother lied to my father.And look at what happen to them.All I'm asking you is.."
"Hmm..?What are you insinuating exactly?She raised her brow.
"Will you marry me Azalea?"
