Chapter - 44

"Psychologist say when your heart is broken.You cannot breathe properly."
Azalea was reading breakup blog in a magazine.

"Ughh..Azalea are you still moping for that selfish..?"
"Don't finish that line."Azalea warned Gianna.
"I was stating the truth."Gianna mumbled.

"No,you weren't.You want me to hate him,you want me to get over him.But deep down even you know what Xander did wasn't a selfish decision.Given,he didn't reciprocate my feelings.But that doesn't make him selfish.You and I both know Xander King maybe everything but selfish."

"Still defending him?Gosh..you're crazy about him aren't you?"
"Tell me about it."Azalea grumbled this time.
"Anyway how are you and Xavier going?"
"Well,we have started dating."Gianna sing song,her cheeks turning pink.

"Dating?And you're telling this now?"Azalea glared at her best friend.

"You just had your breakup with Xander and with my newly found relationship.I didn't want to rub it in your face."
"Aww..Gia.You're ever the considerate.But darling,you must know it will only make me happy.Xavier is like a brother, I never had.I only hope you both,end up happy together."

"Well keeping aside that ego of his,he's kinda likable."Gianna had a small smile.
"Yeah,those Kings' men have that aura.I can totally relate.Or I could."Azalea whispered the last line.

"See,that is the reason you have to start dating.Quit the moping already.
With Xander being gone to where the hell,and you lamenting like a lovesick puppy.I don't even know what to think anymore?Aren't you both miserable?"

"Xander and miserable?"Azalea scoffed.
"Whatever."
After few moments Gianna spoke sternly.
"Okay so listen up missy.I have set you on a date with Tom."
"What?You didn't even bother to ask me?"
"Geez..give me some credit will you?
This is just a friendly date.No strings attached I promise."

Azalea looked at Gianna for any sign of insincerity.Finding nothing,she exhaled a long breath and gave a timid nod.
"Good."Gianna quipped.

"Now,be ready and off you go."Gianna shooed her waving her hand.

"Useless to say,you look lovely Azalea."Tom complimented earning a soft smile from Azalea.
"Why,thank you Mr.Harvey."
Then they fell into their normal conversation.The cuisine was wonderful,the ambience romantic yet her heart was not in her body.It was far far away with him.

"Love is all but a fairytale Azalea.It destroys us.Its just an illusion of a trifled mind."

Her eyes shone with tears.She blinked rapidly.
"Lea are you alright?"
"Something got inside my eyes."
Tom shot her a look.
"Here take this."He passed her a clean handkerchief.

Then he looked past her and his eyes widened,as recognition dawned on him.
Azalea looked bewildered at Tom's weird expression.
A huge figure loomed out of the shadows,and her own eyes went saucer-like.
Her breathing quickened rapidly.
"Xan..Xander."She said a little breathlessly.

"If you don't mind can I have a private audience with my wife?"
"Wife?How dare you Xander King?I am not your bloody wife."Azalea glared at him.
"Wife?"Tom asked pulling his brow in confusion.
"Long story Tom.I'll explain you later."
"Please Lea.Atleast here me out."Xander pleaded.

"Why should I?You don't want me,you don't love me,end of story Xander."
She gritted her teeth and replied angrily.
Xander looked at her with pure determination.
Azalea was fuming with anger.
'The nerve of this man.'Her mind shouted.
"Excuse us."
"Sure Xander.But a word with you before that?"
Azalea puffed and left the restaurant.
"Look Xander,I am not trying to take your place or whatever.Just a word of warning.If you hurt her again.I swear it won't be good for you."
"Trust me mate.There won't be another time.By the way thanks for looking out for her."Xander replied coolly.
Tom hummed a response and both of them made their way out of the restaurant.

Azalea was walking alongside the road.Her heels hitting the floor with a clickety clack sound.
"Lea..wait up."Xander sprinted towards Azalea breathing heavily.
"What now Xander?"
Her face was red with anger.
He didn't blink,he didn't speak and he stays that way for several seconds until his arm finally draped around her shoulder and she was yanked into him,his hold far more possessive than he realised.
Then he kissed her passionately,devouring her mouth.
She went rigid at first,Xander stroked her cheeks and kissed her fervently.Relishing her taste after weeks.
Now,Azalea's eyes were filled with tears.

"I didn't understand what love is.Maybe because I've never felt like this before.Maybe because I was determined not to feel like this.Is this is it Lea?"

Her features showed caution?Is he implying the physical relationship?
"Is what this?"She whispered.

"Is it the certainty that I would lay down my life for you?Is it a need to obsess over every detail which I want to tell you,which I want to share with you?Is it the way you have become so much a part of me that even unconsciously I see you in every vision
of my future?
When I look into the mirror,I'm never alone Azalea..you're there,always there,right by my side."

Azalea looked at him with so much love and adoration that his heart could burst into several thousand pieces.
What a moron he was to leave her?

Gathering her in his arms,he whispered:
"If the flip side of love is hate,then I've hated myself every single day since you left.Hatred for myself,my actions,hatred for my life without you in it.And now,after seeing you,for the first time since that evening I've felt whole again."

Her strangled sob was one of happiness.

"Is this love?"His question was more like a demand which made her laugh shakily,her eyes penetrating his sincere warm eyes.

"What do you think?"

"I think I cannot live another day without you.I think you are all my dreams come true.I think you are my next breath,my body,my soul,my reason for being,my everything.I think I want you to be my wife for real,infront of the whole world.You're mine Azalea."

"I am yours Xander.I never signed the divorce papers.I couldn't bring myself to sign it."
Xander eyes shone with that of gladness.
"This time,we get married for real.You walking down the aisle with Dan and me eagerly waiting for my blushing,gorgeous wife."
He exhaled loudly.
Azalea kissed him softly.

"You still haven't said you know?"
"Said what?"Xander feigned innocence.
"Xanderrr."Azalea pouted.
"I love you Azalea King.Always have.Always will."

"I love you Xander.Don't you ever leave me or I'll cut your ball this time."
He laughed at his beautiful Azalea.His Azalea.
He sighed contentedly and together they walked hand in hand towards their new promising future.
