A Dream Come True

Chapter - 12

He raised his head and the look his face held was unfathomable.But it was suddenly replaced by a hard look.He clenched his fist tightly.
"We're getting late."With that he drove her almost forcefully inside the large hall.
Her face was flustered yet she appeared perfectly poised.

"Quite the show you put up bro."Xavier came beside Xander and drawled in his typical Xavier manner.
"Ain't I suppose to be affectionate towards my wife?"His voice betraying his sincerity,which Anastasia did not fail to notice.
"But ofcourse brother."
"Now,now, Xander are you
embarassed?"Xavier asked jokingly.
"Fuck off,I have people to meet.Don't you have your plus one?Go and charm her."
"Gosh..No need to get your panties on a bunch.I'm off."
To Anastasia he said:
"Ana if you need me,I'm just a call away."
Xavier was about to leave them when they were joined by a dashing man.
His lips smiled but didn't reach his eyes.
Xander and Xavier both stiffened beside Anastasia.
"James.." Xavier said stiffly.
"Who do we have here..? The mighty ambitious beast Xander and his minion Xavier King..Isn't that your name Xavier?"
Both the brothers clenched their fist and hardened their jaw.As if a twin reaction in a movie.
"James Fucking Harvey...Isn't that your name?"Xavier snarled.
"Careful junior.."James nod his head in Xavier's direction.
Anastasia could feel the thick tension in the air.
"Mighty definitely..Ambitious never."Xander replied loftily.
"What's wrong with being
ambitious?Ambition to be omnipotent,all powerful.Isn't what men aspire?"

"I think over ambitious can lead to one's own destruction."Anastasia cut in.
"And who might you be?Surely I wouldn't have missed such an enigma?"
She went on as if he has not spoken.
"Look at Julius Caesar.His thirst for power led to his own death.History bears testimony for over ambitious fool."
"Watch where you're going lady."
"Oh..I'm sorry..Was I impertinent?"She feigned innocence.
"You.."
"Next time you better watch out before you speak in that tone with my husband and brother-in-law.Have a nice day Mr.Harvey."

She clutched at both Xander's and Xavier's arm and nudged them forward with her head held high.
When they were earshot.She looked at both the brother's face.
They were dumbfounded.
"Did you just manage to make.. James Fucking Harvey speechless?"
"I did what I did.That man gave a very negative vibe."

"I must congratulate brother.She's got spunk.Just as you prefer."
Xander still didn't say anything for his eyes held admiration for Anastasia.
Realising now,Xander hasn't spoken.
"Did I do anything wrong?"She looked into his eyes.
"No..not at all.You were good.That man deserve it.But I must warn you Sia that man is a serpent."
"Ofcourse she will be..And besides what are we for?"Xavier cut in proudly.
Meanwhile Roxanna joined in the crowd.
"Hey guys..Did I miss something?"
"You definitely have sister,for our very own
Ana has thrown all caution to the wind and gave Fucking James the taste of his medicine."
"Stop with your idioms and tell me exactly what happened."Roxanna demanded.
After giving a brief summary of the incident.Xavier exclaimed.
"I still can't wrap my head around it."I need a drink.
"Okay stop now, both of you."
"He deserved it trust me."
"Guys..I think we should settle in.Our table is right infront."
"Why ever not?Aren't you the CG?"
"What's a CG?"
"Chief Guest bro...You might be the beast.But sometimes you can be so shallow."They all laughed at Xander.
"Yeah, yeah whatever...."
All their laughter was attracting a lot of attention.
As they walked towards the ballroom where the charity gala was to be held.All eyes were on them.Men and women both were envious for no one has ever witnessed such a handsome couple.
Women looked at Anastasia with contempt and disdain and possess starry eyes for Xander.While the men looked at Anastasia with pure lust.
Her dress was beautiful and modest,yet it brought out her sinous figure.Add to that, was her pale whitish pink complexion and her height.
After that, the events passed in a blur with lots of dancing,champagne and enough denomination for the charity.
Throughout the event Xander was conscious of his beautiful wife.He paid her little but honest compliments,and stayed glued to her.
Anastasia was elated.She realised her life is moving on track.She enjoyed herself immensely.

Somewhere between the event.They were joined by Bruce and Regina King.
"Hey son.."Bruce hugged his sons.Then gave a kiss on Anastasia and Roxanna's cheek.
"You look wonderful Anastasia.No wonder my son is whipped.You look exactly like Regina when I met her."Seeing the angry look in Regina quickly Bruce continued.."Though I must say she surpasses any beauty."
Regina's stiff posture relaxed.
"Bruce!!.Hush..children."
Everyone smiled warmly at their parents.Even Xander had a small smile on his face.His usual strict demeanour somehow changed.
"They ain't children anymore dear."
"You're incorrigible."
"Still you love me."
Regina was quiet but her eyes confirmed the love she bore for her family with the exception of Xander.
"Xander will you kindly escort me to the ladies room?
"Sure."Xander was apprehensive.
She should have asked Roxanna which made everyone bewildered.
Bruce thought satisfactorily that maybe Regina would finally mend the fences between her and his eldest son.
He thought wistfully how Xander's mother has chosen someone else over him and never even looked back at her son.
Growing up Xander remained aloof of motherly love.He was always a quiet and disciplined child.But he was always too serious for his age.He needs love.And looking at Anastasia he was sure this was the woman who can change him.He can see the reform Xander already.

"You're good for him Ana."Bruce complemented her taking her by surprise.
"That's very kind of you."
"I mean it.I know initially I didn't like Xander marrying someone without our knowing.But after meeting you,I realised all my inhibitions were wrong."
"But I must warn you my dear.Xander can be very stubborn and very challenging.He had a very difficult childhood.A child without mother,a child without love and an absent father."
He looked shamefaced.
"You have to hold on to him.He will prove you wrong then and again but you will have to hold on."
"Promise me Anastasia."
"I promise."Anastasia replied solemnly...
Despite of it all Anastasia had a perceptive mind.She understood exactly what Xander's father was confiding in her.It was a herculean task to tame the beast but not impossible.
She felt a pang of sadness thinking about Xander's childhood.
She resolved to help her husband...
