Chapter - 27

As soon as she quench her curiosity.Closing her laptop she lay down next to Gianna. The latter was fast asleep.Several things invaded her thoughts together.What if Tom wanted more from her in a relationship?Was she capable of deceiving an innocent human?No she should never degrade her morales to achieve her goals.She promised Xander to hold on to her goodness.Somehow even before entertaining the thought of dating Tom,Azalea realised it was a wrong move.

Suddenly her phone pinged with a message from an unknown number,bringing her out her reverie.

●Hi...

●???

●Your new friend.Azalea rolled her eyes.

●Tom?

●The one and only.

●Hmm

●Was checking whether you have given me your correct number.

"Boys.."Azalea muttered.
●Coffee tomorrow?As friends?He quickly typed.

Regardless of a life and death goal,Azalea promised never to compromise with her inner goodness.
'Come what may..'her mind shouted.
●Time?

●Eleven-ish?

●See you Azalea.Good night.

●Good night.

She relaxed back.Her mind raced with another set of ideas.But her physical strength gave away.Her eyes felt heavy with sheer exhaustion and she fell into deep sleep..

"Xander,don't you recongnise me?"
"I'm sorry ,but you are?"
"I'm Azalea..your Anastasia."
"My Anastasia?"He scoffed.
"I am pretty sure I haven't met you in this lifetime.Now if you'll excuse me.My date is here."
She turned and her eyes burned with unshed tears.
Xander's hand was snaked around Fiona.His ex-girlfriend.She said something in his ears making him chuckle.He then,brought his mouth close to her forehead and kissed it.
"No,Xander dont.I'll die."
"Azalea get up."Someone grumbled.
"Xander....."
"Ugghh..Lea.Tone it down.My head is pounding."Gianna again fell asleep.
Azalea got up with a start.Sweat running down her face.Without a word, she dressed herself in a loose t-shirt and wore her white sneaker.She hurriedly stepped out of her room and sprinted towards her backyard.On reaching the garden,she breathe in the fresh air.
She exhaled loudly.
'It was only a stupid dream.Surely this can never happen.'She chided herself for being ridiculous.
She started running.She ran until she was breathless.She ran until the hovering cloud of doubt and fear cleared off her mind.
She panted and gasps for breath.Running always cleared her mind.With a determined sigh,she went inside her house.
The stench of coffee and breakfast hit her nose.Her stomach grumbled loudly.
"Good morning mom."
"Hey Lea,morning.Baby can you set the table?I'm running late for work."
"Sure."
She washed her hands and set the table.
Then she quickly took a bath and dressed herself in a comfy tee and jeans.
"Hey you up?How are you feeling now?"
"What happened?I don't remember a thing."

"Someone drugged you,I kicked his ass,Tom gave us a ride,scooped you in his arms and helped me sneak you inside my room.Also, I have a friendly coffee date with Tom.Did I miss anything?"
"Woah woah..I was drugged?"She screamed.
"Shh shh..Tarzan.Mom doesn't know."
"Oops sorry."
"You and Tom?Uggh..I missed so many things.Details Lea.You owe me that atleast".Gianna demanded placing her hands on her hips.
Azalea retold the abridged version of the last night event.Gianna doesn't need to know about Tom's private life.
"Wow,so many things happened and I was dead to the world."Gianna mumbled.
"Atleast you are fine.I was terrified."
"Thanks for having my back."
"Forever."
Both the friends hugged each other.

"Umm...something smell so good here."
"Hello Gia."
"Morning Cam."
"Hello,beautiful ladies.I must say,I am a lucky man."Dan winked at Gianna.
Everyone busied themselves with breakfast.
"These croissant are to die for.Cam you're the best."
But Azalea was not listening.Nerves were all around her.
Abruptly she felt all eyes on her.
"Lea,you don't seem well to me.Is something wrong?Its like past couple of days you are in your own bubble."
"I second that Cam."
"Actually I wanted to ask you guys something."
"Go on."
"Mom?Dad?Can I work?"
"Huh?"
"Yeah I mean I would like to work in a corporate sector.No offence,I love my family business but restaurant isn't my thing.I need to extend my boundaries."
She exhaled a breath which she was holding for a long time.
"Azalea Evans what is your age?"
"I'm 21 going on 22."
"Even though I'm glad our daughter still seek our permission.But I guess,maybe its time to make your own choices."
"I totally agree with your Mom."Dan interposed.
"Honey,you don't owe anything to our restaurant.It should always be your own decision.And we will support you no matter what."
Tears pricked her eyes.
How the hell did she get so lucky!
Daniel and Camilla Evans were the bestest parents.
She got up and hugged her mother and father.The rest of the breakfast was followed my laughter amd meaningful conversation.
After the breakfast Azalea ad Gianna did the dishes.Gianna was looking at Azalea in a strange way.
"You okay?"
"Your parents are the best."
"Yeah tell me about it."
"Azalea,is there anything you hiding from me?"
"No."Azalea replied too quickly.
Gianna raised her eyebrow.
"I just want to be independent.Is it a bad thing?"
"No ofcourse not but its strange ,only some weeks before your goals were to travel,meet people etc,etc.Now suddenly this.."

"Geez,calm down mother hen.I still want to travel.But only at my cost.Reliability makes your backbone weak.And I'm everything but weak.There is no option for failure in my life."Azalea was rambling.
"I think I get it."
"And?"
"I think finally you've grown up."
"Haha..very funny."
"By the way who is Xander?You were dreaming about him I guess."Azalea was dreading this.
"Who Xander?"
"Did she again mentioned Xander?I think my daughter is obsessed with this stupid Xander creature."
"Mom!!Don't ever talk about Xander like that."
She bit her lip for being so furious.
"Woah,woah.Azalea what is wrong with you?
Cam was teasing and who the hell is this fucking Xander that you've gone all hulk over him?"
"Don't Gianna...Just don't."Azalea warned her in the most sternest tone.
Both Gianna and Cam were stunned.Never had Azalea spoken in this tone.
She turned around,tears sparkled her eyes.If only she could confide in her family.If only they knew Xander's value in her life..She gulped and again faced them.They were still staring at her.
"I am sorry."She said in a small voice.
"Xander is umm..uh.."
"Your favourite right?We shouldn't have said ill about him.Its just that you've never been so passionate about a celebrity."
"Still Mom,my tone was horrendous.I go mad.Please do not talk about Xander like that,please."
"Oh..oh..my,my she has chanelled all her crush from Tommy boy to this Xander.Now I get it why you didn't feel anything for Tom."

"The Tom?whom she has a crush on?"
Azalea glared at Gianna.
Gianna shrugged,a big grin plastered in her mouth.
"Apparently The Tom has asked her out.Like,right now."
"What?honey what are you doing here?Go get ready.
This is your first date afterall."
"Friendly coffee date.No dating."
"Yes,yes she will only date Xander.
Let me google him."
"Gianna stop."Azalea commanded but in vain.
"Holy moly freaking hell!!"
"What happened Gia?"Cam asked curiously.
"This is your Xander King?"
One look at Xander's picture and she flushed.Her cheeks pink and her mouth dry.
"He is handsome for sure.Anyways you girls chat about your new crush.I'm off to work.Love you both."
"Love you."Both the girls replied in unison.
"Be safe Mom and avoid the highway."
"Uh..why?"
"Uh..traffic.I heard in the station."
"Ah..I see.Okay."
"So when did you meet this sexy meat?"
"Umm Xander?"
"Duh.."
"I've never met him."
Then what were you doing in his bed?Azalea's mind screamed.
"He is handsome scratch that he is like a greek God.And look at those eyes.I bet they are black."
"Its dark grey like stormy cloud."Azalea murmured distractedly.
"You surely have done thorough research on this one.Haven't you."
Azalea's mind was preoccupied.If she does not see Xander she will surely die...
But her first priority was getting into Harvey Corp.
Just then the bell rang.
"Hey Azalea."
"Hello Tom.It's eleven already?"
"Umm..no I was passing by I thought I could give you a lift?"
"Sure."
"Can I come in?"
"I'm so sorry,where are my manners?Please come in."
"Gia..look who's here?"
"Hello Tom."
"Hello Gianna.How are you feeling?"
"Like I've been drugged."
"Ughh..I'm sorry."
"Its not your fault.But thank you so much.Lea told me how you were the knight in the shinning armour."
"Why,thank you milady.But it was Azalea who was the actual knight."
Tom was a real smooth talker.
"Why don't you two sit down.I'm getting us all some coffee."
"Umm..we have a coffee date."
"Right."
"Friendly coffee date."Azalea emphasised.
"C'mon Tom.I'll be back in a couple of hours.You better rest Gia."
"Yes mom."
"Haha.funny."Azalea scoffed.
