"Guys?"
The feminine voice came out from the entrance as Lena was having breakfast in the kitchen with Josh and a few of the other housemates. Instantly, the boys smiled before getting up to greet their guest, and Lena followed, unsure if she should do the same, as she was also a guest. She stopped at the door frame, smiling at the friendly hug between Josh and a cute blonde girl. It's only when the two of them broke the embrace that Lena noticed she had seen that girl before.
Her heart dropped as images of her and Tyler at the barbecue party flooded up her head. How could she forget that girl, she had no idea. She was beautiful. After hugging her friends, she turned to face her, and for a minute, Lena thought she would get mad or suspicious as to why she was even here, but instead, the girl opened up her arms.
"Hey, Lena right? Nice to meet you!" She said nicely before taking a step towards Lena and hugging her like an old friend.
Lena mentally facepalmed, half regretting that the girl wasn't some psycho bitch that she could easily hate. But why would she hate her, anyway? She didn't even know her name, and the fact that she was probably dating Tyler wasn't a good enough reason. Right? Lena was about to ask what her name was when the girl shrieked happily, making her jump with surprise.
Tyler had barely set foot downstairs that the girl was already in his arms. He hugged her tight, burying his nose in the crook of her neck before lightly kissing her on the cheek. Lena's guts were making knots and she put her hands on her belly to make it stop - maybe she ate too much? - but the sinking pain wouldn't go away.
The whole clique slouched down on the many couches of the living room and the conversations were flowing from all sides, but Lena's main focus was on Tyler's arm around the girl's shoulders. How could she feel weirded out by such a simple gesture? It wasn't like they had something together. He didn't owe her anything and she knew she shouldn't feel saddened by that. But she did, and she didn't know why.
"So, ready for shopping Ty?" the girl asked him, and Tyler pouted like a kid.
"But I don't wanna go!" He exclaimed, to which the blonde rolled her eyes.
"Someone has to! Otherwise you'll all end up eating cold pizza and tacos every night and..."
"I'm fine with eating pizza and tacos, girl..." He interrupted with that arrogant smile of his. The girl sighed, smiling nonetheless, then turned to Lena. Her cheeks instantly turned pink from getting caught eavesdropping.
"Wanna come, Lena?" The girl asked.
"Uh... I mean... I don't wanna ruin your date, he just came back and..." Lena started, but she was interrupted by the girl's laugh.
"Date? I wouldn't date that guy for the world!" She chuckled, already getting up from the couch. "So, you're coming?" she asked again, turning to Lena.
"It's settled then!" Tyler answered before Lena could have the time to open her mouth. "You girls go buy food for your men" he continued, switching places in the couch so as to take as much place as possible, laying his feet on Josh's lap while rubbing his belly. His grin was interrupted by a pillow thrown at him.
"You dork!" The girl shouted before shuffling towards the door. She then turned to Lena one more time. "I'll wait for you in the car, girl!" And with a wave, she was gone.
Lena wasn't sure what had just happened. She was confused. Was that cute lovers bickering, or were they actually not dating? She turned to Tyler, who had already barged in his mates conversation, totally oblivious to Lena's presence. She shrugged. The nature of Tyler's relationship shouldn't matter anyway. He was a grown man, and he was allowed to date - or not - whoever he felt like dating.
