I sit in the waiting room tap tap tapping my foot on the tiled floor. The sterile smell of the hospital fills my nose and I am brought back to that night.

"Where is he? Can I see him?" I scream at the doctors who are forcefully holding me back.

"Ma'am you have to calm down. Right now, only family is allowed to see him," the doctor says calmly, irritating me even more. How the fuck am I supposed to calm down?!

"You don't understand, I'm his sister," I lie.

He cocks his eyebrow, obviously not believing me entirely. But he looks drained, not wanting to fight with me any longer. "Fine. He's down the hall in 201."

"Thank you sir," I say, my breath heavy from my tantrum. "I appreciate it."

I sprint down the hallway, my feet carrying my tired body at lightning speed. As I see the number 201 pasted on the door, I rapidly swing it open, desperate to see him. I enter the room, but I am not met with the man I was in love with recovering in bed. Instead, I am met with six people, doctors and nurses, circled around a lifeless body, all frantically working as his heart monitor beeps uncontrollably. One of the nurses sees me and her face lights up on alert. "Ma'am, you can't be in here. I need you to leave," she orders me sternly.
