Fish Out of Water.

Chapter 2

Joy and I pushed open the doors and entered Webster High, the minute you walked in you could tell something was up. Everyone was buzzing with excitement. I picked up my locker number and schedule and headed towards my locker. As soon as I reached it I received a text from another friend of mine; Tyler Banks (okay, so Tyler is a girl, a gorgeous blonde to be exact. I felt like I should mention that).

Tyler: Hey girl! Where's ur locker? I'VE GOT SOMETHING TO TELL U!

I sent her my locker number and unpacked my bag while I waited for her. Soon enough I saw Tyler followed by my black-haired friend Emmeline, but if you call her that she'll reply 'It's just Em. Thanks.' Tyler ran up to me and grabbed me in a hug, "I haven't seen you all summer! How was it?" Tyler was amazing, everyone liked her and she just radiated kindness. "It was great, I finally got the trick I've been working on with my skateboard. How was yours?" Tyler smiled and began to answer when Em cut in, "Tyler! We have something to tell Jay remember?" Em was the beauty queen of our group. She was as good at makeup as I was bad, anytime there was a dance Em was our personal stylist. Em's personality was that of someone who was goal-oriented. She was serious but she could also have fun; the perfect mix. "Oh yah! Okay, so Em and I were walking into school today when this heavenly guy walked in. He is just.... Ugh, perfect." Tyler said. "Huh, I seem to remember someone from last year, what was his name? Oh yah it was Nick Dallas." As soon as Nick's name left my lips Tyler's eyes widened. "Why?! Did you see him?! Where?!" Em and I laughed, Tyler had had a crush on Nick Dallas since she had had a locker next to him in sixth grade. In the middle of our conversation the crowd in the hallway parted down the middle. "Here he comes." Em stated. All of a sudden the most gorgeous guy I had ever seen came walking down the hall with his backpack slung stylishly over one of his shoulders. He winked at a few girls, high fived a few guys, shook his hair out of his eyes, and then... well then I ran into him, literally. I had been trying to walk away, I could sense that I was beginning to like this guy without even knowing him! That was even worse than just liking a guy! As soon as I had stepped out I tripped on someone's foot, lost my balance, and fell on the new guy. "Whoa!" We exclaimed before falling on the floor. "Ouch." I rubbed my head where I had hit it on the floor. "Hey! Watch where you're-" That was when he actually looked at me. "Hey, the name's Ryker. What's up?" He leaned against a locker. "Well let's see... Oh yah! I just got knocked over by a new kid who I've never met before, that's what's up." I raised my eyebrows and crossed my arms. "Hey, you ran into me." He stated, mimicking my stance. I rolled my eyes and picked up my backpack, "I have better things to do, ba-bye." I turned around and attempted to walk off. I say 'attempted' because before I could get far enough I felt a hand grip my arm, "Will I see you again?" He said flashing a smile. Man, he was gorgeous. Wait what was I thinking? I needed to find Tyler and Em. "Yeah sorry Romeo but no." I walked off successfully this time. As soon as I turned the corner I was basically trampled by a red head girl. "Riley! I've already ran into someone today, I don't want you to be my next victim." The red head laughed. She was Riley the last of my group of best friends. Riley ran cross country and always had a smile on her face. She was the happiest person I knew, she EVEN beat Joy. "Hey have you seen Em?" She asked me. "Actually I was looking for her and Tyler." I replied shrugging. "We should just look together!" I nodded and we started walking down the hallway. I was so confused, who was this new kid and why couldn't I stop thinking about him? Jay Brewer did NOT have crushes. Ever.
