Chapter 34 (The End)

It was the last day of school. Ryker and I had been on a few dates but we still weren't dating officially. Autumn had replaced Joy, we all adored her. Life was good but I was still confused about Ryker.

I looked at the last text conversation that we had.

Jay: So we go out together but were not dating?

Ryker: Nope, not yet ;)

Jay: Okay. Sorry I'm sort of a fish out of water at this.

Ryker hadn't replied. It worried me, had I done something wrong? I began emptying my locker. someone came up behind me. I turned around to see Ryker. "Hey stranger." I slapped him on the arm, "We haven't even talked for the last two days!"

He laughed, "Okay you're right and I'm sorry. But to make it up to you I got you something." I gave him a quizzical look. He rolled his eyes, "Yes I know. I'm cheesy. Just close your eyes." I laughed and did as he said. He put something into my palm and told me to open my eyes.

Inside my hand there was a necklace that had a balloon charm on the end. "Ryker, that's awesome! But why a balloon?" Ryker crossed his arms a leaned against the locker next to mine. "Remember how you called yourself a fish out of water? Well I figured maybe now you could fly higher or something like that and the balloon, you know, represented that." I smiled, he was trying to make me feel like I was going to succeed at this whole 'relationship' thing.

"Thank you. Can you help me put it on?" He grabbed it and helped me clasp it around my neck. We waved goodbye and walked to our last classes of tenth grade.

After that I grabbed my bag and my skateboard. I met my friends outside and made plans for the summer. Tyler was going to be busy practicing in the band, she had become a full-fledged member. Riley was going to be taking college courses and Em was going to continue achieving her dream. That left Autumn and I. Since she was my neighbor she pretty commonly came over so I would see her plenty of times.

Will ran out if the building and ran up to Tyler. She hugged him and said goodbye to us all. Their relationship had only grown. Will loved Tyler and would give her the world if he could. And Tyler... well she was finally happy.

Riley and Autumn went home together and Em caught a ride with them. I hopped on my skateboard and started to skate off when Ryker yelled my name. I turned to look at him and almost got hit by a bus. I jumped out of the way just in time and walked over to him. He looked at me and I looked at him.

"Hey Jay? I just have a question." I sighed, "I almost got hit by a bus for THIS?" We laughed and he asked his question, "Will you be my girlfriend?" I shrugged, "Yeah, I guess so." I smirked and he put his arm over my shoulders and this time I let him keep it there.
