Chapter 23

My Mom and I were outside her work office waiting for Lyla and her family to show up so we could take a taxi to the hotel. I saw a minivan drive up and out hopped Lyla, Rachel, and Ryker.

Ryker saw me and ran up, "You're coming too? Oh well, this will be fun then." I smiled "Yeah it will, if we ever get there." I looked at my mom. She rolled her eyes, "We're working on it!" Ryker and I laughed.

Finally the taxi pulled up and I threw my luggage into the back, I was ready to go. I liked things to move fast.

We got to the hotel 2 hours later. I hopped out and raced Ryker across the giant grass field that faced us. When I won my competitiveness took over, "Oh yeah that's right! What's wrong Mr. Varsity quarterback? Can't beat a girl at running? Oh wait! That's not just any girl, that's JAY BREWER! And she wins everything!" Ryker laughed, "You really like yourself huh?" I winked, "Almost as much as you like me babe." We laughed and I jumped on his back for a piggy-back ride.

We grabbed our luggage and put it in our rooms. Ryker and I asked if we could explore and our moms said we could. As long as we took Rachel with us. Ryker grabbed Rachel and we ran down the stairs to the giant lobby.

After exploring the grounds surrounding the hotel we sat down by a lake. Ryker was standing by the lake and I was sitting down with Rachel. I stood up and accidentally bumped into Ryker. He went crashing into the lake. Rachel and I laughed.

"I am so sorry." I said in between laughing. Ryker glared at me then got out of the lake. "It's okay. Can I have a hug?" I screamed and he chased me around while Rachel laughed. Ryker picked me up bridal style and threw me in the water. I swam up and splashed him. "Uh. I hate you." We all laughed. "We should probably head back." I nodded in agreement with Ryker but before we could leave I threw a slimy algae ball from the lake at him. I winked, grabbed Rachel's hand and we ran.
