Chapter 9

It was the end of the day. I hopped in Axel's car, I was ready for winter break. The last four months had been really uneventful except for the fact that eventually I had fallen for Ryker. We had become friends but I liked him as more than one. It was a mess.

Tonight I was going to Tyler's house with all of my friends for a .sleepover. I always loved going over to Tyler's house for sleepovers, they were always so fun.

Axel began driving. I followed the turns in my head... until one of them wasn't right. "Axel, you missed a turn." I said carelessly, I wasn't worried. "No, I didn't." That's when I realized; we weren't going home. "Where are we going?" I said sitting up. "Ryker's place." He replied nonchalantly. I was screaming inside my head. Why were we going to the most popular, most flirtatious, cutest, not to mention quarterback for the football team boy's house?! He was also the boy I liked. Oh lord, save me now.

We pulled up a long driveway and parked. I got out of Axel's car and straightened my outfit. which consisted of skinny jeans, uggs, and a graphic tee. Axel went up to the door and knocked. His place was huge. The door opened and there was an adorable little girl standing there, "Rachel! Where are you sweetie?" I heard Lyla's voice calling out from somewhere else in the house. Lyla came over to our house a lot. She was a single mother, but she didn't let that get her down. She and mom had become fast friends. Rachel was only five, I had never actually met her until now but Lyla talked about her a lot.

Lyla ran up towards the door where Rachel was and picked her up, "Hi guys, are you here to see Ryker?" Axel and I nodded, "He should be getting home from football soon. He said that your project for biology was downstairs Axel." Axel said a quick thanks and went to go work on it. So that's why we're here, a biology project.

"Oh! I have pizza in the oven, it's probably burning! Would you mind watching Rachel for a second?" "Not at all." Lyla left Rachel with me. "Hey Rachel! I'm Jay." Rachel's face lit up when I said my name, "You mean like the letter? We learned about that in school today!" I smiled, she had the same dark hair as Ryker and the same green eyes. "Yup, just like the letter." I smiled and she stood up, "Do you want to play tea party?" I nodded and she squealed. She grabbed my hand and pulled me to her playroom.

We sat down at a cute little table filled with play dishes. it was adorable. "Would you like some tea Ms. Jay?" Rachel asked me. "Why of course Ms. Rachel." She laughed and pulled out a teapot and poured us some 'tea' (it was actually just water) I drank a little, "This is delicious! What flavor is it?" Rachel thought for a second. "It's flavored chocolate bubblegum strawberry tea." I laughed, "Its positively delicious."

We kept playing for so long that we didn't even hear the front door open. Rachel and I were ballroom dancing with teddy bears. And in walked Ryker, "Your good at that Jay." I paused and turned around. "Yah, I have some major ballroom dancing skills." I smirked. "Ryker! Do you want to play with us? You can dance with me!" Rachel said. Se ran over to Ryker. "Sure." He picked her up and danced all around the room with her. It was adorable.

Later we had to leave. "Jay? Will you come back and play with me again soon?" Rachel asked with puppy dog eyes. "I wouldn't miss it for the world." I replied smiling. Ryker walked up when Rachel went inside. "See ya." I nodded, "Yah. I'll see ya."
