Headline: CEOs and Leaders Alike Make Their Way to Paris for Summit
Mira's slowly making our way to the airport since we always get lost. But my mind is anywhere but on the summit. I should be memorising the script we wrote so I can practice with Mira on the jet. I should be calming myself down. I should be bubbling over with excitement for Paris. But I'm not.
I'm skimming through every memory of lunch with Ara. It was a nice get-together. I was just put off. I am put off. And I refuse to admit it's because of Jungkook practically melting in front of Ara. I don't even know why it bothers me.
On top of that, I'm in the grumpiest mood. It's a dark moody 5am flight. And it's twelve hours. By the time we reached Paris, it would be 10pm because of the time difference. The whole jet lag was already looming over me.
"Are you okay?" Mira breaks the silence I didn't know was happening. I start a little.
"Oh, nothing," I mumble.
"How was lunch with Ara and Jungkook?"
Way to hit the nail on the head.
"Fine," I say.
"You haven't met Ara in so long. How is she like now? I vaguely remember her," Mira remarks as she turns into the valet.
"She's the same," I smile a little at that.
"That's nice that fame and money didn't twist her," Mira says and I giggle.
"You seem bothered though," she notes as she starts to unbuckle her seatbelt. The valet is walking towards us to take the car.
"I'll tell you about it on the plane," I say. She eyes me before ducking out of the car.

We're escorted by staff to the private jet. Well, not quite. It's a first-class commercial airline with private suites abroad - I nerded out about it last night with Mira so we're less hyper about it today. We're sharing this plane with about ten other CEOs and their staff.
Mira takes some orange juice (no alcohol on flights for me) and passes it to me as we take a seat in our seats. We're still waiting for more to board so Mira sits on the edge of my bed. I always take the right side since she likes the left.

"I'm still freaking out about this suite," Mira barely manages to squeak and I nod numbly. She seems to jerk out of her daze when she senses how off I am.
"Okay what happened at lunch?" she asks.
"I don't know why but I felt annoyed during lunch. Even now. They were acting so mushy gushy and I just- I don't know. I felt left out?" I confess, looking at her for some explanation. My heart's a mess but I'm too tired to deal with it. And the storm of feelings has subsided.
"Does Jungkook have a crush on her?" she wastes no time beating around the bush. I wince without meaning to.
"He mentioned them spending a week in Spain?" I say. She tilts her head in thought.
"Do you like him?" she asks and I laugh out loud, a little too forced.
"What? No. He's my close good friend," I say. It's true.
"So I'm not your best friend anymore?" Mira pretends to be hurt. I roll my eyes.
"He's like a brother," I rephrase my sentence.
"Uh huh," she nods slowly before her eyes light up. I stay quiet, not wanting to continue the conversation about why I'm somehow upset about the lunch. Mira knows this and starts looking through her phone.
"What're you doing?" I ask.
"Trying to get your mind off this," she says.
"Why-"
She turns her phone to me and starts scrolling. My jaw drops.
"It's gorgeous," I say, taking her phone and looking through the pictures of our hotel. I can feel her swell with pride beside me.
(A/N: im sorry, i actually researched about this hotel and it truly is drop-dead gorgeous. i couldnt decide on what pictures to include because the hotel is just mAGNIFICENT so heres the link to the website. check it out. it's so worth it. https://www.shangri-la.com/en/paris/shangrila/)
"Can you believe that we afforded a week at that place?" she asks, eyes wide.
"Wow. We've really come far," I say, somehow tearing up. We really have. I remember taking up many part-time jobs with Mira in high school whilst juggling our law majors.
"Why're you crying?" Mira laughs but she's starting to cry too. I know she's recalling our old days too.
"We worked so hard to get to where we are today," I say, wiping at my tears and laughing too. She gives me a tight hug as our door swings open.
"Oh, sorry- Hana?"
I jolt and look up.
"Jungkook?"
There goes the mood. He breaks into the biggest smile.
"We're on the same flight!" he exclaims and I nod slowly.
"I texted to ask you what flight you were on to see if we'd be on the same flight but you didn't respond," he pouts slightly and my heart goes sour, beating quickly. Then I realise I may be overacting.
"I didn't see it, I guess." That's a lie. I saw the text come in, I just didn't want to read or answer it.
"Jungkook?" I'd recognise that voice anywhere - especially after yesterday's lunch. Ara comes into view and it's the most awkward interaction. Jungkook senses something's off with me but before he can ask, Ara's hugging Mira.
"It's been so long!" Ara grins happily and Mira smiles back. Her smile's a little tight after knowing what went down at lunch.
"Are you crying?" Jungkook suddenly asks and I chuckle at that.
"We were just really thankful for having this opportunity," I say, realising how formal I sound. Jungkook realises that too.
"We just cry randomly," Mira backs me up and laughs, trying to twist this into a joke. I laugh along.
"Good morning passengers, this is your captain speaking. Please prepare for takeoff," the pilot's voice crackles over the intercom.
"We should get to our suite," Ara suggests as she walks off. Jungkook pauses for a beat before following her. Mira closes our door.
Our? They're sharing a suite?
Mira offers a sad smile.
"Let's just get this plane off the ground and we can catch up on sleep, yeah? Or do you want to practice the speech?" She knows me well enough to not ask about my deflated mood anymore.
