Headline: No Statements Issued by JC Yet, Investigation into Shootings Continue
The moment we screech the car to a stop at the hospital's entrance, guards are ready to receive us - holding off a few reporters who were lingering outside the hospital. I waste no time, jumping out of the driver's seat and meeting Jungkook on the other side. I stick close to him as we are briskly escorted to a twin room.
The place reeks of 'hospital' and my heart is pounding.
Mira's going to be okay. I believe in her.
Suddenly, the doctor stops walking in front of the door. He does a formal bow before starting to speak.
"Apologies for the late update. Miss Lee and Mr Kim are in this room. Miss Lee suffered an asthma and anxiety attack. She is extremely exhausted and her energy levels are low. As for Mr Kim," he flips to the next page, "He has sprained his ankle and inhaled too much smoke, so we're keeping an eye on him."
I gasp in relief, leaning against Jungkook in exhaustion. He hugs me back tightly and I can feel so much stress being lifted off his shoulders. I quickly hug him back tightly too.
"Both patients are asleep right now, I would suggest you keep the volume down," he advises before quietly opening the door. We silently tread in as the door closes behind us. My hands fly to my mouth when I see how many tubes Mira is linked to.
In high school, she experienced multiple severe asthma attacks so this scene isn't new to me - I just had not seen it in so long. Taehyung's left foot is in a cast and he seems to be breathing just fine. I rush to Mira's side and I hold her hand.
"You were so brave, Mira," I keep chanting as Jungkook walks to Taehyung's side. His words to Taehyung are soft and I don't catch all of them, I don't intend to - it's their privacy. We linger for a while longer until we are told we have to leave. The sun is still in the sky, but about to touch the edge of the world. After saying our goodbyes, we hop back in the car.
"I'm so happy that they're fine," I instantly say when the car doors shut. Jungkook nods back instantly. My fingers are about to twist the key when I pause.
"I..." I trail off and Jungkook's brows raise.
"Can you stay a while longer at my place?" I mumble in embarrassment. He grins softly.
"Of course. Let's drop by my place so I can get some clothes," he suggests and I nod.
His place is close to the hospital so we get there in no time. Unfortunately, his house is about an hour away from mine and with evening traffic setting in, an hour and a half. He also felt safer at my house since it was more heavily guarded by security - so it isn't an option to stay at his place.
Since we're both relatively hungry (what with only having eaten some noodles in the morning), Jungkook drives us (he noted that I was too sleepy to drive back) to a drive-thru so we can pick up some dinner. We grab two acai bowls since we're not ravenous but still have to eat. In between driving, Jungkook eats a little while I finish in roughly 10 minutes.
I nap for the rest of the car ride.

I become aware of the fact that the car is rolling to a stop but my eyelids are heavy, refusing to open.
"Hana, we're here," Jungkook's warm voice floods the silence as his hand rests gently on my shoulder. I furrow my brows in exasperation as I groan softly. He turns the engine off as I rub at my eyes, the light coming back in splotches. He unbuckles himself and comes over to my side to open the door for me.
Reaching out his hand, he waits for me to take it (which I do) and pulls me out. I stretch a little as he locks my car. Yawning, I reach my hand out for him to pass me my phone (which he gives) and I look at the time.
11.15pm.
"Did it take that long to come home?" I ask tiredly as we walk towards the lifts.
"Some road was shut off," he explains. I hum in response.
I'm practically leaning against the mirror in the lift, struggling to keep awake.
"We're going to have to start with our statements tomorrow, huh?" I yawn. I peer at him through half-closed eyes as he nods. I watch lazily as the number displayed on the top of the lift keeps increasing - there is an unspoken agreement to remain silent.
"Sleep in my bed tonight," I murmur out of nowhere. He straightens up a little, eyes a little wider.
"The couch isn't meant for sleeping," I finish. Before I can hear him reply, the lift doors open and I walk out.

By the time I open my bedroom door, Jungkook's already on the left side of my bed, scrolling through his phone. I shiver a little at how cold it is as I close my door.
"Made yourself comfortable already, huh?" I smile crookedly. I swear he blushes - or maybe the lighting is just too dim and warm in here.
"You offered," he retorts as he stands up to close the curtains.
"Let's leave them open tonight," I suggest as I get to work increasing the room's temperature. He nods as he returns to the bed. While Jungkook's in a simple tee and some sweats, I'm in a hoodie and some shorts.
"Do you always wear a hoodie to sleep?" he teases as he gets under the blanket.
"It just gets cold," I nag, switching the lights off. I sigh as I sink into my bed.
"Why can't we just stay in bed forever," I mumble as I grab a pillow to hug.
"You wouldn't get to see me then," he replies sleepily.
"Are you not already next to me?"
That question lingers in the air as we fall asleep.

I groan a little as I stretch my arms, whacking Jungkook's face in the process. He yelps in response and that makes me laugh tiredly.
"I'm sorry, I didn't know you were still in bed," I say sleepily as I chuckle.
"I am still in bed," he whines silently. Just for good measure, I whack him on the head again.
"Oops," I drawl. Before I can find another sassy comment, his body does a fantastic turn that sends me clinging on the the edge of the bed. I let out a screech as his arm swings over my waist.
"Jeon Jungkook, we're going to fall off the bed!" I shriek as my hands claw at the edge of the bed (like my measly hand will stop two full-grown adults from falling off the bed). There's a confused "huh?" from Jungkook before we're both sent over the edge.
Gravity had to be having a good laugh - and truthfully, we were having a good laugh too.
We tumble down with happy screams. I end up landing on top of Jungkook.
"What were you trying to accomplish with that turn?" I chortle at the ridiculousness of the situation, clutching onto my stomach that's seizing with laughter.
"I was trying to make a statement!" he cries out below me. I laugh even more.
"Make a statement about what?" I'm wheezing.
"Good God, stop moving it's hurting my abs!" he yelps. I pause as my hand fumbles its way to his face to hold it.
"Are you ticklish?" I ask quietly. He freezes even more and I think my happiness explodes. My grip on his chin vanishes as my hands quickly move to his torso. He starts to curl up into a ball.
"Stop! Stop!" he manages to get out amongst laughs but I don't.
After a good minute, I collapse onto my carpet, exhausted. Jungkook is breathing heavily.
"That was a whole workout," he breathes out unsteadily. And for the millionth time that morning, I laugh.
