Headline: Villagers Riot For Better Wages
The lighting is dim and the lights are low. Voices are hushed and there is the occasional embarrassing scraping of cutlery. I am in a cosy turtleneck and simple skirt with a Chanel bag - casual but not scandalous. I can feel my hands turning clammy for some strange reason. Taking some shallow breaths, I scan the restaurant for the man himself - Jeon Jungkook.
I feel my phone vibrate the moment a waiter approaches me. I check my phone first.
Jeon Jungkook: follow the waiter
My brows furrow as I look up to the waiter bowing to me before politely telling me to follow him. I try to focus on the rhythmic footsteps to calm my heart that's beating a little quicker than usually. I notice the hallway we're headed down and a sign that reads "VIP Room 1" outside the first room we pass as the waiter leads me past the other VIP rooms. I chuckle a little.
Of course.
When we finally reach one of the VIP rooms, he opens the door and waits for me to enter before sliding it shut for privacy.
I murmur a thank you to him before I look at the man before me. Jungkook rests his chin on his interlocked hands as he beams childishly. He's in a blazer. Perhaps I should've dressed more formally too.
I shake my head in amusement when I realise he's wearing shades.
"Shades at night?" I question as I take a seat.
"A fashion statement, I call it," he says smugly as he removes them.
"Right, Mr 'kookiesnbunnies'" I nod as I start to pull out the brown file I've prepared.
"It was a childhood thing," he pouts in defense as I slide the file across the table.
"What's this?" he asks curiously as he takes its contents out.
"A request for your company to publish an official statement on the fact that there's nothing going on between us," I smile coyly. His brows furrow as he briefly goes over the materials. There's a few beats of silence as I cross my arms and watch his body language.
"You do realise that Mr Lee is a whole scam, right?" he finally speaks up after placing the papers on the table. My brows shoot up.
"What are you saying?"
"He's going to back out of the case because there isn't sufficient evidence. His company's stocks are falling. And I'm pretty sure you know this but he's picking up this fight over a really minor detail. He wants to win this case because it could give him more money. But we have way more evidence than whatever you have collected. Even if you spend the rest of your life scraping up evidence, it'll never be enough," Jungkook leans back and watches me intently. My eyes lose focus as I try to think rationally.
"Why're you telling me this? You could've just won the case - extra money," I try to think of reasons why he would be telling me this. He pushes his bottom lip out in thought, his eyes wandering around the room before settling on me.
"I guess, this is a thank you for the company you provided me this morning," he smiles bitterly as he pushes the documents towards me. I remain speechless.
"I won't be releasing a statement since it would be useless. Just think about what I said. The ball's in your court now," he finishes his sentence before exiting the room.
What just happened.
I let out a humourless chuckle. Jungkook truly is something.
I take out my phone and dial Mira.
