Yuri... Venom? I... Do they mean my Yuri? I don't know his last name, but-... 'Venom'... 'Venom'...That's it! 'Starving Venom Fusion Dragon'! But I didn't think that'd be his last name?
'Yuya.' Phantom thought, interrupting my thoughts.
'Do you think it's them? The 'Newby duelists'?
'I'm not sure... I guess this is a bit of karma for thinking we could assume something...'
I looked away from the three below us and pulled away from the edge.
'Yuya!?'
'I know I should listen, but I just feel like I can't...!'
He stretched his arm out to me, pulling me back to my spot beside him.
'We need to know if it's them or not, they may still be a part of us, even if we can't talk to them.'
'But it is true! That's why we can't talk to them! I know it! I wanted to believe that they were still here, but I just can't!' I screamed in my mind, closing my eyes.
A moment later warmth surrounded me. My eyes flew open to see Phantom holding me in place. I hugged back, visibly shaken.
After a minute or so, he pulled away. I gave a nod of thanks.
"What are you three doing! You are on guard duty, this isn't leisure time!" a voice broke from the silence below.
Phantom and I turned our attention back to the area below.
"It is quite alright." a painfully familiar voice rang, soaked with malicious intent.
From around the corner, a boy with violet and pink hair entered. He wore a semi-formal dress shirt, with a long purple cape that reached to the top of hif calf-high boots. The under-side of his cape was a deep, yet vibrant red that clashed with all the purple and white. His deep coral-pink eyes surveyed the three students as he stood by the teacher who had caught the three.
The boys were frozen, even the teacher seemed a little unnerved. Yuri lifted his duel-disk on his arm, leveling it perfectly with the students.
"I'd be more than happy to relieve them of their posts!" He said, grinning maniacally.
The boys watched in horror as Yuri pressed the button on his device. A bright, violet light leaked out. The students' bodies began to glow the same color, then, in a single bust, their bodies dispersed into tiny orbs of light, fluttering around the area, and scattering to the wind. Now, in place of them, three cards lay face up on the ground; each card holding an image of one of the three boys.
The teacher sighed and then collected the cards. He began walking back to L.I.D. when he reached Yuri, he placed a hand on his shoulder, whispering something to him before walking away. Yuri stood in place until the teacher was gone, then he turned to leave himself. I couldn't stand it any longer. I jumped down into the alleyway.
"Yuya, wait!" Phantom called, jumping down as well.
He stopped walking and turned to us.
"My, my, what a pleasant surprise! We've been looking for you two all over!" Yuri exclaimed, though in a taunting tone.
Wait... both of us? But he's never met Phantom! Unless this is Phantom's Yuri.
A shadow suddenly washed over me. I looked up to see that Phantom had stepped in front of me in a protective manner.
"How much do you know?" Phantom asked, his tone sounding like both a question and a warning.
Yuri gave a slight chuckle and then locked eyes with Phantom.
"Is that anyway to treat your brother?" He asked, bringing his index finger to his lips while his other hand slipped under his elbow.
Phantom froze.
'So... he's my Yuri? That doesn't make any sense!' Phantom thought to himself.
I stepped out from behind him, placing my hand on his shoulder. He nodded, relaxing a bit.
"Which one are you, really?" I ask.
He knows Phantom, but a part of me is telling me he knows me to...
"Whatever do you mean?" He responds in his usual sarcastic tone.
"You're both" Phantom spoke softly, staring at the ground.
He shifted his gaze to Yuri.
"You're both my brother and Yuya's counterpart. Aren't you?" Phantom asked.
Yuri chuckled. A moment later his chuckle grew into a maniacal laughter.
"Smart as ever, my dear brother!"
"Wait does that mean the other two are here as well!?" I asked loudly.
Yuri reached into his pocket and pulled out a small white clip. He walked to me, stopping a few inches from my ear, causing me to flinch.
"Why don't you see for yourself?" He said, placing something in my hand before backing away slowly.
I looked down at the small clip he placed in my palm. As he pulled away my vision blurred and my body felt light. After a moment, the world became a black void filled only with darkness.
