Chapter 17 Yuya's POV

Reiji and I stared at one another as we sat across from each other in his office. Sora sat in the chair next to me, across from Reiji's desk in front of us. I could tell Sora seemed a bit uneasy since this seemed to be more between Reiji and I. I can't stand this little game of apparent intimidation, I hate a quiet room, of course, if it's for a good reason, then it's not so bad... intimidation is definitely not one of those 'good reasons'.

"So, is this because I ran out earlier? If not, is it because you have new info on Z-ARC?" I spoke up.

Now that I think about it, if it was because I ran out, does he think Z-ARC made me do it? No, he's too smart to think such a thing... right?

"Where is Mrs. Hiragi?"

"What? Uh... at home?"

He stared at me another moment. What the heck! I don't see how this ties into any of what's going on! He's got to have a reason other than asking 'where's Yuzu at?', spit it out man! Wait, did something happen to her?

"I see... it seems you have attained a new piece..."

"What are you talking about? What do you mean, 'where's Yuzu'!?"

" Do you know who Crow Hogan, Kaito, and Jack Atlas are?"

"Yes?" I answered slowly.

"Yuya, what's he talking about?" Sora asked, breaking the chain of back and forth between Reiji and I.

" You must created him when you refused..." Reiji said to himself as he stood up and began pacing behind his desk, staring at the floor.

"Reiji?" I ask.

He continued pacing as he thought aloud.

"You don't seem to have any recollection of the events from the school, so since you said that you had forgotten things when your counterparts took over... which means if Z-ARC had survived, he might have become one of you counterparts..." he ranted.

Sora and I stared at him, trying to figure out his train of thought

"Hasn't Z-ARC been gone for a while now? Why's he being brought back up again?" Sora asked.

"I'm more concerned about the line 'Z-ARC might have became a counterpart'. But at the same time, that can't be possible. We're pieces of Z-ARC. So Z-ARC can't be a piece of himself." I commented concerningly.

"Another question is the whole 'school thing'. Did something happen at school today?" Sora asked me.

I shrugged, unable to think of anything truly significant enough to be called here in the middle of the night for.

Reiji's eye twitched slightly as Sora and I interchanged the info between the two of us.

"Where were you a half hour ago?"

"With sora;" I answered casually with a shrug. " we were taking a walk around the city. Is that a crime?" I asked with a hint of sarcasm in my voice.

"I can vouch for it to! In fact, it was my idea to take a walk in the first place."

"So you both just so happened to be walking around in the rain and decided to walk together? Why were you out in the rain in the first place?" Reiji questioned, obviously not believing our words.

"I was bored and needed to grab something from school, but I was procrastinating.." Sora answered with a sheepish smile spread across his face.

"And I was playing in the rain, and yes, I know it sounds childish."

"I noticed Yuya in the park, so I figured we could walk around together."

"But why in the rain?" Reiji questioned again.

"Why not in the rain?" Sora countered.

"Well at least you won't have to worry about getting caught in the rain again on your way home." Reiji stated plainly.

Sora stood and grabbed my wrist, pulling towards the elevator.

"I'd rather have a second shot out there than in here, thank you. You obviously don't know anything yourself, so we'll be on our way." he said as we reached the elevator and pushing the button.

Reiji sighed and then walked over to us.

"I'm sorry, Sora, Yuya. But until I'm convinced you're not a risk to the city's stability, Yuya, you will be staying here. As for you sora, you may leave, but once you're out, you will not see Yuya until I deem him stable."

" Who are you to decide that?" Sora growled, while I stared confused and a little scared at Reiji.

"As the head of the Lancers, it is my duty to protect this city and all whom reside in it."

I have a really bad feeling about this...
