Her silent crying filled the dark air and I bent down to her level. Wrapping her folded body into my arms.

And I held her.

The walk back to where all the jets were was a silent one. We split up since the two squadrons initially landed in different places.

I scowled at the engine in front of me, it would be simple enough to recharge the central wiring. The damage wasn't dramatic, only the main power had malfunctioned- which was strange considering it happened to all of the jets.

As everyone worked busily on getting their X-Wings working again, Anj has her back to everyone, hiding her face and her feelings.

She broke.

I looked hesitantly from the engine to Anj who folded over in her own grief.

I pondered on wether to abandon my work just to comfort her, but from a stern look I got from Vella Nost in the corner of my eye was enough to answer my question.

Unable to speak. Trapped in her own frozen mind. I peered to take a look at her face and what I saw would break me a thousand times.

Tears began to spill quietly from her helpless eyes onto the newly growing grass that we escaped to. Her gaze fell from bloom to bloom. In that moment the sure knowledge that life would go on without Aimee, that time was only stopped for her and it undid her completely.

The usually bright, positive girl was on the edge of her tipping point.

"How is she holding up?"

The comforting voice of my mom came from behind me, calmly I turned to face her. I dipped my voice to match her whisper.

"I'm not sure" at least I was honest, even if I tried to comfort her, she was quick to shoo me away. My mom put a firm arm around my shoulder and held me in a sideways hug.

"She needs time, trust me I know" by the tone of her voice I could tell something was picking at her heart. A lost light was still set in her mind.

"How would you know?" I didn't mean to sound rude when it came out of my mouth but then she unhooked her arm around me.

"A long time ago I," she chuckled solemnly, a strange, half-hearted laugh.
